Hey, RTX Weekend.
I know it's only been a day since we last saw each other, but I already miss you. There are so many great things about you. Not only are you pretty on the outside, but you're beautiful on the inside, too. It's like you've got 30,000+ smiling faces inside you. Or something poetic like that.
RTX Weekend, you were a great way to close out my 25th year. 40 miles walked in 5 days, countless hours on my feet, mostly serving with the incomparable Bravo Squad on Response Team, lots of high fives, dance parties, pointing to escalators, directing to panel rooms, escorting to registration, answering questions, signing autographs, shaking hands, pacing in front of elevators, communicating via memes, laughing at inside jokes that were only days old, and watching tons of people having the time of their lives. It was an unbeatable weekend.
I've got to give shoutouts to Chris, Mary, and Dan for leading the Guardian army, Patrick and Lauren for keeping the Response Team in line so that we could keep everybody else in line, Mama Duck for bravely taking on a rowdy bunch of loose cannons in Bravo Squad (Boss Duck, Independent Duck, Mean Duck, Strange Duckling, Ugly Duckling, and DUCK), and Bravo Squad itself for being a beautifully weird family of loving/hating siblings like all the best families are.
Additional kudos to the team leads and squad leads I got to work with on loan to other areas: Kevin at the Hilton, the wonderful lady leading the ACC reg (I never got your name, I'm so sorry!), Dooby (if I'm spelling that right) at the OTS panel Saturday night, Echo Squad Lead (thanks for having your squad and posts organized- made relieving them a lot easier!), the Expo Guardians at the 343 booth, the Lines lead at the Twitch booth, Mitch the Lines Lieutenant, and anyone else I'm forgetting because I was in so many places this weekend. You were all a treat to work with.
Again, it was a fantastic weekend. I'm really hoping to be back again next year. But in the meantime, I've got to say, it's not half bad sitting down at a desk again for the first time in a week...
