    • Friday the 13th...

So I'm standing around in the rain yesterday (along with the rest of my school because some idiot didn't learn his lesson), and I'm trying to think of something to write in this journal when my friend Stephan walks over and points out that tomorrow (which is now today), is Friday the 13th. So I'm like "Okay... Is someone going to try to cut my head off with a machedi?" (which could happen because one of my friends is named Jason and he has a fetish with sharp things...)

Stephan goes "Could happen man -it's Friday the 13th. Means its bad luck." And I'm like "Please... Bad luck is tripping over your own shoe laces, falling down a flight of stairs, and landing on the star football player of your school and breaking his arm which means an automatic loss for the team and an automatic death for the person who caused it." (By the way, Greg, if your reading this; it wasn't my fault man- It's the damn shoe lace company's...)

So this morning on Friday the 13th I wake up and it's my usual morning -cloudy sky, birds chirping, little bit of snow falling, me cursing at it- nothing unsual happens. I go to school-nothing happens. Well, except for someone suposidly telling stories of how someone (not naming who) tricked someone into licking a frozen flagpole last week. You know, come to think of it, that's pretty usual...

Anyway, I come home and nothing happens. Big suprise there...

My point is Friday the 13th is just a day. Nothing really superstitious about it. Just another day in another month. Infact, today was actually kind of good. Right now the sun is shining for the first time in a billion years and it actually resembles this season called Spring. (I know it may sound strange to some of you, especially if you live in the Northeast, but there is actually a season after winter called Spring).

I also have a party to go to tonight so if your one of those superstitious Stephans out there who say that Friday the 13th was just going easy on me today and will probably do something horrific tonight; let it. Judging by what it did today, I would welcome Friday the 13th to the party and let it get its groove on.

Well, spring break's over for me (for all those still on break; you suck).Go figure that the moment I set one foot inside my school the sun came out. I guesse it was winter's last chance to piss me off... It's still cold and by noon the sun was hidden once agian behind the rolling clouds and that dreaded white stuff began to fall once more...

Spring break was over for most of us today. However, there was a select few in my school who tried to snatch it back in what I consider the most stupid way possible; writing a bomb threat.

I had just come from lunch and was sitting by the window watching it snow and talking to some kid about how winter's only good for freezing things and tricking people into licking flag poles and other frozen metalic objects when the alarm went off and we all took a trip into the beautiful northeastern weather...

You would think that during a bomb threat they would have us as far away from the school as possible. They don't. Infact me and a few other guys were throwing snowballs in a second story window some idiot left open (hey, if your stupid enough to open a window during the winter, then you deserve to have snowballs land in your room).

So anyway, long story short, it snowed, I complained as I froze, some kids got in a shit load of trouble, and a desk full of ungraded labs in a second story science room became mysteriosly wet and illegible... Personally, I blame it on condinsation.

    • Merry Easter

Ah, yes... It's that time of year again. The time of year where the easter section in Wal-Mart is so jam-packed with people desperatly trying to find that perfect chocolate rabbit that you just want to take out the loaf of french bread from your buggy and beat people over the head with it just to get through to the section with the Doritos... Easter time is here agian.

If you ask me, it looks more like Christmas around here than it does Easter. Snow is gently falling from the sky, two red birds are on the feeder, deer are by the shed; it's a Norman Rockwell world out there.

Around Halloween it was about 56 degrees and sunny, for Thanksgiving it was about 48 degrees, and for Christmas it was 45 and there was no snow whatsoever over any of the holidays. ...Except for Easter, the holiday during the spring time where it's supose to be nice, warm, and sunny. Not 20 frickin' degrees out with a blizzard...

Let me ask you all something because this is a question that has plauged me for years. Why do we associate eggs with rabbits? I'm no brainiac in biology, but I don't think rabbits lay eggs. Who came up with that anyway? Caboose?

Don't get me wrong, I love Easter. I love the candy, games, visiting family, and not to mention watching little kids fight over the last Easter egg. It's just with the weather like it is and all the hassle you have to go through just to get some Doritos at Wal-Mart, I'd rather say Merry Easter instead of Happy Easter.

Now to get some Fiery Habanero Doritos and to enjoy some Easter cheer, video game style.

Did the sun decide to back away from earth by about a million miles today? Snow, and lots of it, is falling down agian from the heavens... Where is this global warming I keep hearing so much about? Right now I should be outside in my bathing suit soaking up sun rays for my muscular body (ok ok ok it's an exaggeration but hey, its nice to dream sometimes...).

Maybe if I pretend that it is 75 degrees outside with a partly scattered cloud cover and a U.V. advisory, then it shall become just that. Yes... I shall wear my bathing suit and lay down on the beach towel in the front yard by that dumb kid with his tougue stuck on the flag pole...

...But on the other hand if I go outside wearing nothing but a swimsuit I'll likely become a frozen geek-cicle -and that just would'nt be cool (pun not intended).

Looks like I'll just have to wait till the weather gets warmer to break out the swimsuit... That or go outside and start spraying hot sauce all over the place... Maybe that would work?

Two days ago it was 75 degrees outside. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, the flowers and the leaves were coming out, and you could hear the little fan in the back of my Playstation 2 humming in the distance. Life was good. Not only because of the weather or my PS2. It was because I was on Spring Break (And I still am but that's beside the point).

I had thought winter was gone for good and dont get me wrong; winter is okay for about the first three weeks but after that you start to get tired of the constant cold, the back breaking work of shoveling heavy wet snow because your snow-blower decided to crap out on you that day, and the constant lack of badly needed and even more badly desired snow days. I was so happy it was spring I nearly sacrificed a cow to the spring gods to celebrate (but I didn't, and maybe I should have).

Yesterday it got cold... Real cold. The kind of cold that seems to pierce right through your skin no matter how fat you are. The kind of cold that turns the snot in your nose into snot cicles everytime you breath in. The kind of cold you used when you were little to trick the dumb kid in your neihborhood into licking a flagpole resulting in a funny joke and good memories. It was then I saw it. That tiny white speck of certain misery and loathsome gloom that could only be produced by snow...

Now the ground is covered in it and all the signs of spring are now burried beneath an oppressive layer of cold ice crystals. No longer does the sun shine but hides behind these dreary gray clouds which emite my enemy. The birds are still out though (and thank god too because if they weren't then you'd know something like The Day After Tomorrow was happening).

Looks like today is going to be one of those days to just turn my PS2 on and go outside and see if I can't get that kid to lick the flagpole agian.

      Damn you snow. Damn you...

The quote is in the "Planning to Fail" PSA. It's about zombies and is funny as hell. You can't go wrong with zombies.
