      JasonThePink

So after debating for a while now, I think I am officailly done on this site. As with Facebook, I find it sucking too much time IRL and also causing me to feel obligated to keep it updated. Not to mention the lotsa updates I have to attempt to keep up with. The moment this site started becoming obligitory to me was the sign it was time to hang it up. I jsut flat have too much going on in my life anymore to try and keep up.

I don't think I will delete it outright (at least for a while), but my time here will become very narrow. I will be leaving my current employer near the end of September to go back to school full time, and like many other parts of my life I am cutting back to the core items that are truly important. Namely my wife, and my boys.

With that all said I cannot overstate what this site has meant to me both in general and more specifically when I had cancer. I received a tremendous amount of support and love from many people here and I will never forget it or take it for granted. It is just time for me to move on me thinks.

Hope you all are well and continue to remain so (except Nick...I hate you, you dirty fuck you), and I will miss you all. Enough sentimentality....fuck off love you bye.

      -Jason

P.S.---IF there are those of you that would like to keep intouch with me via whatever means, send me a message I will provide the details.

So sorry for the delay folksies, but but has been a journey. Nothing can ever go to plan in my world I guess. My wife and I welcomed our second munchkin into the world on Friday July 9th. He was 19.75 inches long and 6 pounds 10 ounces which makes him just slightly bigger Grayson was. And that is where the normality ended.

As soon as he came out my wife was wheeled out into the operating room (not normal) because they could not get the bleeding under control in her nether regions. 4 hours later and many, many drugs she was wheeled back in having been sewed back up successfully. Doctor comes in to inform me that they almost lost her twice on the table and had to give her 3 transfusions. I was never informed of the seriousness of the situation at the time so needless to say I wanted to kill and eat her doctor, but I abstained as my wife was still alive and okay and my beautiful son was amazing.

So with that said it has been a long 13 days or so but things are normalizing now. All my time has been spent on the 2 kids and the wifey care for obvious reasons, hence the delay. So without further adieu....pics:

I will be posting more again here in a couple days as we get back into the swing here. Wife is just around walking again, so it is time for her to get back into the kitchen where she belongs.

A nearly 40-year-old board game is getting a lot of new attention because of eerie similarities between the scenarios of its play and the 78-day-old BP Gulf oil disaster.

The game BP Offshore Oil Strike, which came out in the 1970s and is adorned with an old BP logo, revolves around four players exploring for oil, building platforms and constructing pipelines â€" all in the name of being the first to make $120 million.

But like the real-life oil game there are some big hazards, too. Players have to deal with the possibility of large-scale oil spills and cover cleanup costs. You struggle with "hazard cards" that include phrases now part of our daily vernacular, including: "Blow-out! Rig damaged. Oil slick cleanup costs. Pay $1 million."

Sound a little familiar? The similarity has led to discussions all over the Web. It's prompted people to dig in their attics and put their old games up on eBay â€" many of which have promptly been snatched up.

One copy of the game was donated to the largest toy museum in England, the House on the Hill Toy Museum in Stansted, Essex.

The museum's owner, Alan Goldsmith, told CNN he was shocked when he saw the donated game.

"It was sort of uncanny how it was similar to what's happening really," Goldsmith said. "I thought it was odd that it was a game in the '70s, which has basically now come true. The interesting thing is that it was in dollars, even though it was a European game. The cleanup bill was $1 million, which we now know isn't nearly enough, but it is a weird colorful circle."

The game came out during the oil crisis of the '70s â€" and perhaps it was an attempt to drum up support for U.S.-based drilling.

Goldsmith said as a part of the game, players work to amass a drilling empire. But the game comes with all of the scenarios of the present Gulf disaster. Even the game board and cover resemble images from the Gulf these days â€" with rigs attempting to reach far into the ocean depths.

The game has many people online remarking about whether it eerily foreshadowed the current BP disaster.

"It's strange, you've got this fictitious board game with fictitious drama â€" but it couldn't be any closer to the reality of what's happening now," Goldsmith said.

I honestly never removed you from my friends list. Hell, rune is still on there. I had no reason to delete you man.

Here's the problem though, this whole thing isn't about her. It's about the way comm stats works. I simply want to see other people on there. And if you have a ton of watchers (most of whom are moronic) every stupid-ass thing you do will get up there. No-one needs three journals up there on one day (or two, for that matter). All I'm asking for is a change to the way comm stats picks the top five journals so it's fair for everybody.

      Also:

Bob thought it prudent to delete me as a friend cause we disagreed about the journal?

Side note: where is that fuckin kid already?!

    • Ninjen13

This is where we will have to agree to disagree.
-I can count on one hand the time times where I have double posted, and to be honest, those double postings were near the beginning of my user-ship of the site. I learned how annoying that is and stopped.

      - The actual journal in question (+60 ditto on that right now would say others agree too) had no hate towards the user that wrote it. It was the outcome. 3 journals by one user. Ridiculous. If it were any other user, the journal would have still been posted.

      - The name calling, ya, uncalled for and rude. . . however, it was not Bob. It was Chef. In fact, out of any of the comments I read, I failed to see anyone except Chef to be putting her down (tho he was so harsh it could be equal to tonnes of people putting her down)

      - Its not a popularity contest. This discussion has nothing to do with popularity nor does the journal. No one is butthurt over someone's popularity.

At any rate. I'm over it.

Hmmmm, okay I am now caught up with said current events.

I can see why the journal was posted Jason. Multiple journals a day are a cry for attention. Look at KWierso! I have bitched at him for posting multiple journals a day. She does the same thing. It gets old and honestly, I enjoy looking at top posts. Until its the same fuckin user for multiple things. Kind of like when you only see LFTO or grifball posts in top forum posts.

      Thanks. ^_^

I basically have my computer and the internet to thank for that, really. Before I had my computer, basically all I had for music was a couple rock stations on the radio and whatever CDs I and my siblings had... which was mostly alternative rock.

But now with everything on the internet, youtube, and such I left alt rock behind for the most part.

Oh btw, not all those songs I liked in the first paragraph (or the earlier paragraph) are strictly downtempo. I described it as downtempo because they were similar to downtempo. Burial, Ital Tek, and Clubroot are dubstep, Architect is industrial, Access To Arasaka is IDM, and Hecq is... uhm, a mix of IDM and ambient I guess.

That's the thing, a lot of artists I tend to like tend to be a mix of genres combined as well as being straight forward. It's hard to put them in a box so people know which box they're getting. And really, I kind of hate having to put them into a box in the first place but the box has it's uses either way.

And this reply took forever to get to you because for about an hour RT wouldn't load my comment page. It was accumulating annoyance until I gave it a break for a bit. I hope this reply actually loads at any rate.

Oh! I totally forgot about The Flashbulb! His new album is good one as well.

    • Tetrameth

I've been listening to electronic music for a few years now and I still don't know every "proper" term to call subgenres and the like; so don't worry if I get something wrong as well.

Listening to those Digital Witchcraft songs gives me a better idea as to what kind of music you're looking for and discogs tags it as breakbeat/progressive house. I can see how it's tagged as progressive house; though I rarely listen to any form of house music besides maybe deadmau5 and a couple others. But from off the top of my head I can't think of anything too close to DW at the moment, unfortunately. Unless you consider Solar Fields and Ultimae artists close to DW. I can recommend artists that are similar to Solar Fields if you would prefer that also.

For chilled stuff I think you're looking for, I would recommend Blackfilm, Subheim, Ametsub, Diaphane, Access To Arasaka (maybe not all that chilled), Architect (more industrial than downtempo but one of my favorite songs from him), Burial, Clubroot (really like this one lately), Ital Tek, Hecq... okay I think I'll stop there for now. My mind is going in twenty different directions and none of them are probably the direction you are looking for.

I have heard of St. Germain and Bonobo. In fact, Bonobo is one of my favorite artists, especially with his most recent album Black Sands (very good album). And I think RJD2 is similar to Bonobo beat-wise. RJ's first album Deadringer is probably still his best album, imo. The other three after are not bad and have their own moments but Deadringer is a classic.

If you like instrumental/abstract hip-hop, I would suggest listening to Flying Lotus, J Dilla (RIP), Madlib, Dimlite, Dorian Concept, Prefuse 73 and others that refuse to surface up in my brain.

    • Tetrameth

It would help me better to suggest artists if you said what two electronic artists you said you liked. I've never heard of Digital Witchcraft before either.

But I'm going to guess which ones your referring to... Benn Jordan (The Flashbulb) and Amon Tobin?

The thing about electronic is that it's a very broad and general term for supposedly describing the music under its name; I could suggest an artist that flies under the electronic banner that you may very well not like.

When you mentioned "the more chilled out side of things" and I am immediately reminded of Solar Fields. I wouldn't say he's electronic in the general sense of electronic but more downtempo/ambient than anything else. He's about as chill as you get. Well, that's not exactly true but pretty much anyone on Ultimae Records is chill. Hol Baumann, in particular, is about as close to electronic out of all of them (I believe) and he has a great album out thus far along with tracks on various compilations. But I love everyone on Ultimae, it's my most favorite record label.

But it all depends on what you like. The more you can describe to me what it is exactly what you're looking for, the better I am able to help you (I hope). Since, I like to think that I listen to a very different variety of music than most on here or anywhere, for that matter.
