I completed all of the daily & weekly challenges for Halo: Reach today. I feel content about how the majority of my evening was spent. :-)

    • A journey for comics

I drove over to Pensacola yesterday and made the pilgrimage to TBS comics. We don't have a comics shop in my city that is open during the week. The one that we have is in the flea market, and has a mediocre selection. I love that we at least have something, but still- it doesn't compare to an actual shop. So I drove for about 2 hours round trip- 150 miles total- to go to this comic shop. I was able to meet the owner and have a conversation. I'm going to try to go over there once every couple of months to sate my appetite for comics. The limited selection that Books-A-Million and Flea Market Comics have just doesn't cut it anymore.

While I was there, I got the hardcovers of X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills and Daredevil: Born Again for $10 each

A Commissioner Gordon figure from Batman: Dark Victory, and the Stealth Jumper Batman figure from Batman: Hush

I also picked up these following issues: Green Lantern #1 from June 1990 (GL vol. 3, issue 1), all 3 issues of Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters, all 4 parts of Batman: Going Sane, Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne part 5, Detective Comics #864, Batman: Hidden Treasures #1, Batman: Odyssey #3 & 4, Batman and Robin #15, Batman Beyond #4 & 5, Detective Comics #686, Detective Comics #786, Legends of the Dark Knight #79, and Green Arrow #80.

As some of you know, I work at a Sears call center, where I take calls from customers and clients all across this great nation of ours. As a reward for making pretty great sales, I was presented with a Sear gift card and a pat on the back- "keep up the good work."

At first, I was indecisive about what to buy. After my weekly visit to the blog of Mr. Patrick Rothfuss, I decided to remove my copy of The Name of the Wind from my shelf and give it another read. Sadly, I noticed that my copy of the book was very tattered and worn. So I decided to buy a new copy.

And as it turns out, I found the first edition/first printing hardcover of the book on Sears.com.

      XNX61.jpg

And so, I decided to purchase it. And of course, I'll package it up and send it to Mr. Rothfuss for him to sign (along with something cool that he requests is enclosed within the package as tribute).

I also decided to buy the first two books from George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series- A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings.

Presently, while I am awaiting delivery of these books to my door via UPS, I am letting my girlfriend read The Name of the Wind while I read the first 3 books of the Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi series. I need to seriously catch up on this series anyway. I need a Star Wars fix.

Other than buying new books and reading copious amounts of fantasy & science fiction literature, I haven't been up to much else new. Working, going to college, spending time with Constance, and playing Xbox when time allows.

    • A fine day for doing nothing.

I woke up early this morning- early for an off day, at least. Got a shower, made coffee, ate breakfast, and sat down to watch Boyz N the Hood and play a bit of Halo: Reach multiplayer.

My girlfriend came over later in the day. We watched Cat Ballou and Dirty Harry. Now playing more of Red Dead Redemption while the first season of Deadwood is downloading.

So yeah- I don't really do much of anything on my off days, except sit on my ass.

    • Update- 9/20/10

      Wow...

So, it's been a while since I posted an update. Sorry for that. Life has been busy with work, school, hanging with my girlfriend, and as usual, playing Xbox.

Life has been good recently. No major complaints to speak of. I'm happy enough, I guess. There is a reason for my happiness of late- my girlfriend, who is awesome. She is beautiful, smart, creative, funny, and just has a great personality all around. Every time I get to hang with her is awesome. She's the best.

      Jobson4c71849accf13.jpg

I'm trying to get her to play more video games. Haha. She has a Playstation 2, so I bought Devil May Cry for her. I also loaned her Dragon Quest IV on the Nintendo DS, and she received a DSi, Dragon Quest IX, and Pokemon HeartGold for her birthday earlier this month.

I'm trying to find someone who has read it.

It was his first novel, it tells the stories of six different people in November in the same region of England going from 4000 BC to 1996.

I found it going to get a copy of Endless Nights from the Sandman series, it was right next to the Neil Gaiman graphic novel section despite it not being a comic. I've been trying to find someone who has read it, so far without success. It's Alan Moore, so how could it be bad? But I don't really understand the point of the concept.

Chilled out with this chick that I'm talking to on the side.
