Kimichi stood waiting in the center of the dance floor wearing a slimming pair of black jeans and a tight white shirt that pulled over the powerful contours of his large chest. He nervously swept his dirty blonde hair back, tapping his dock martins on the hardwood floor. What if Mindok lied, and didn’t show? Kimichi trembled with fear at the thoughtâ€'and hardly anything scared him anymore. And yet something loomed in the back of his mind. Was he really ready to move on? She had meant so much to him…
As he stood there in his endless pool of thought, Mindok slipped through the French doors, his skinny jeans emphasizing flawless legs and his tight black shirt seductive against ivory skin. His bronze hair hung around his elegant face in wild disarray and brought out careful but excited amber eyes.
“Kimichi? You just gonna stand there looking handsome or are you gonna come here and take me out to a movie?†Mindok asked almost sweetly. Kimichi spun around and lost his breath in awe. They stood there appraising each other eagerly, time melting away for a moment. Quickly, Kimichi strode across the floor and took Mindok up in his arms.
“You look lovely.†He complimented, tracing his nose along Mindok’s jaw, mouth watering at his heady scent.
“You…clean up well yourself.†Mindok returned, stiff in his grasp and trying not to tremble; he hated betraying his facade.
“I love you, Mindok.†Kimichi said tenderly, kissing his hair and holding him close. For a moment, Mindok leaned silently into him and allowed the kind gesture to vibrate through every cell in his undead body, pulling at silent heartstrings and making them sing again. He recovered, though, and pulled away.
“Yeah, well, I’m here, right? Let’s go.†Mindok pulled away, flushed. Kimichi chuckled.
“Can’t you say you love me back?â€Â
“I told you that can change.†Mindok crossed his arms severely.
“The fact that you’re here, promising to go out with me, is proof that’s not true. You easily could have left me here tonight.â€Â
“Oh, shut up.†Mindok sighed, “I’m not a prick, I wouldn’t do that to anyone.â€Â
“That just makes me love you more.â€Â
“You said this wasn’t going to be too mushy, and I’m about ready to throw up. Are we going or is this poetry hour?!†Mindok hissed. He seemed so angry, yet his cheeks were almost pink in his embarrassment. Kimichi smoothed his palm over the small of his back and smiled warmly.
“I’m sorry to keep you waiting.†Kimichi slid his large hand down the marble skin of his arm and clasped Mindok’s hands, interlacing his fingers and finally tugging him to the door. “I just get so caught up in your expressions. You’re very entertaining, you know.†Kimichi added cheerfully. Mindok muttered profanities under his breath, but allowed himself to be towed outside into the brisk air of the waning night and almost smiled as he watched Kimichi bound out joyfully, tugging his arm in his enthusiasm.
“Where to?†Mindok drawled, gazing out upon the little town with soft eyes. He had already begun to love this town; it would be time to leave soon, regardless of the outcome of this night.
“The small movie theatre at the end of town…it’s about a ten minute walk.†Kimichi looked at him curiously, amazed as Mindok’s mood abruptly changed before him, from anger to love to sadness in a matter of seconds. Kimichi led him in silence, beginning to second guess himself and his affections for Mindok after all that had been said, but when he gazed on Mindok’s sad face, his silent heart ached and broke for him. He yearned to kiss him, to hold him, to erase that pain from his perfect face with whatever he couldâ€'someone so beautiful should never wear such a wretched expression such as the one that he wore. They strolled down the badly paved road under the shade of large willows, the light rapidly depleting and sparkling softly off their diamond skin; finally Kimichi spoke, his voice heavy and sad.
“Why did you let her do that to you?â€Â
“Who are you talking about?†Mindok looked at him, mystified.
“The woman who changed you. How could you let her destroy you? Look at you, Mindok, you’re miserable. I love you, and you love me…but you won’t open up to me because of this mistake. How could you let one mistake take over your entire life? I’d think you of all people would fight back harder because of how difficult it must be…but yet you run. How could you let that happen?â€Â
“My life is gone.†Mindok’s rage began to boil, his copper eyebrows pulling angrily down his forehead and furrowing, “There’s nothing to ruin. Kimichi, I won’t drag you into this. It’s none of your concern.†Mindok stalked forward, but Kimichi yanked on his arm his arm and pulled him into his stone figure. He pet Mindok’s hair softly, affectionately, and watched the anger and defensiveness melt away into an endless abyss of pain and sorrow in those clear, almost innocent topaz eyes. Mindok’s icy lips trembled and he hid his face, ashamed of his weakness and ashamed that he could not hide it from this overly-friendly, eternally young man. He tried to tug away, all in vain naturally, only to have his cheek kissed.
“You’re my business. Everything that has to do with you is my concern…what a silly thing to expect otherwise! It’s been too long since I felt this way, and I won’t let another love escape.†His voice was sweet, and full of understanding as he gently ran his fingers through strands of shimmering copper, watching as his locks tumbled from his fingers back to the wild disarray that surrounded Mindok’s handsome alabaster face. Kimichi’s crystal-colored eyes followed the lines of Mindok’s strands to his cheeks, and finally into butterscotch eyes, deep and rich in color; also saturated with humiliation and sadness this weakness had caused him.

Kimichi sat, attentive and blank as he awaited the mystery of why his love seemed to hate his affection so passionately; Nyara smoothed out her skirt and cleared her throat, unsure of where to begin.
“Mr. Kimichi, please don’t be judgmental of Mindok when you hear…this started when we were still human. You see…Mindok was always the beautiful boy, the one the girls wanted. We had money, and a lot of it. But he was never happy, never interested in anyone or anything…he was always seeking thrills.
“So one day, a beautiful womanâ€'and she was gorgeous! There was nobody this woman couldn’t seduceâ€'and her eye fell on my brother. He wasn’t interested in her in the slightest until she gave him a thrill.â€Â
“He told me he was a virgin.†Kimichi’s voice cracked as the thought of a seductive young woman, kissing on the slender human throat that would drive him wild, his body belonging to another before him…it was true that he himself was not a virgin, but the idea of Mindok, the sweetness the promise of his purity held…wasted...
“He is. She never appealed to him sexually. Kimichi, she supplied him with crack cocaineâ€'my brother was a crack head. She addicted him to it so he’d continue to come back to her. In her eyes, it meant that he belonged to her…but one day, she asked for sex in return for the drug and he refused her, took up his things and went to leave…She was the one who changed him, you know. She changed him right then and there. Unfortunately, I was foolish enough to come looking…
“He attacked me in thirst. He didn’t have any control yet, and truthfully, it’s a miracle I didn’t die. She pulled him off of me, laughing…it made her revenge all the sweeter to her. She then took the remaining drops of our bloodâ€'crystallized into little jewelsâ€'and claimed us her servants. I stole mine back, but she still has his. If she catches up with us, she’ll kill me and enslave my brother. To protect me and to stay free, we run, forever, perpetually homeless. So he forces himself to stop loving, to stop feeling so that we can continue to run without getting attached and ultimately getting destroyed by our own hearts. It’s not that he doesn’t want to love you, Kimichi. It’s that he doesn’t want to hurt you.†Her voice was so strong with wisdom that his mouth hung open slightly as his brain tried to absorb the tale. To think that elegant creature in the other room had once been so human, so foolish was foolishness within itself.
“To sum up what you just said…he’s punishing himself for a past mistake so that you can live and he stays free?†his asked flatly. She nodded twice, her golden curls bouncing around her serious alabaster face.
“So…this woman is hunting you two down and she wants him to be hers?†his voice dropped to a growl.
“Sucks for her. He’s already mine.†Kimichi’s eyes were full of fire as he crossed powerful arms over his broad chest, defiant and angry.
“But he said…†she protested.
“I don’t care about what he said. He admitted he loved me after telling me he hated me. He didn’t anticipate meeting me when he made the decision to run, Nyara, and I’m not letting that man slip through my fingers over ONE female vampire. I don’t give up anymore. I can’t bear to lose him to this woman.†He spat, his eyes now slits. He was preparing for a fight. As he spoke, the bathroom door opened with a quiet squeak and Mindok stepped out, his alabaster body sparkling with water and a yellow towel hanging from his prominent hips. Kimichi spun around to declare it to him too, but stopped short, his mouth popping open in surprise and let out a delighted sigh as he beheld the seraphim before him.
“Oh…!†His eyes were abruptly lighter, burning now with a new resolve as they raked interestedly over the planes of a hardened chest and long marble-smooth legs. Mindok was even more beautiful now, with nothing but a towel to hide his slender but magnificent body from the excited eyes of the vampire dancer. Kimichi didn’t dare try to touch him, though he longed to; that would be a disaster after what had been said.
“What were you saying, Kimichi? I dare you to repeat that to my face.†Mindok hissed, hands on his hips just above the towel, as if daring Kimichi to look.
“I’m not going to lose you. I’m not letting you leave.†Kimichi was able to grin, but was unable to catch his breath, it seemed; his cool breath came out as quiet gasps.
“Hello? How are you going to stop me? I’m an adult and holding me here against my will is considered a crime. I’m leaving, I’m going to make money, and I doubt you’ll see me after I pick up my sister.†Mindok spat, gathering a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, a plain black shirt and a studded belt on his pale arm. Kimichi’s deep voice came out injured and rough, and his liquid\sapphire eyes pleaded with the stubborn immortal.
“But you said you loved me.â€Â
“So what? Even love can fade in time. I’m a vampireâ€'I got lots of time. Kimichi, you had to have known I was going to leave you eventually.†Mindok leaned against the bed frame, ocher eyes serious.
“I was hoping…that maybe I could change your mind. Maybe…maybe if you just gave me a chance? Come to the studio tonight, please. Give me just one night to change your mind.†Kimichi pleaded, using his sweet voice against him, praying to whatever deity that might exist that Mindok would be unable to resist him in this as well. He hesitated, deliberating on the offer.
“Well…what are you planning?†Mindok asked slowly.
“Just a date, that’s all! Maybe just a movie, and a quick dance? Nothing overly mushy, of course.†Kimichi promised, beaming.
“Fine. One date, Kimichi. But unless you make me fall head over heels, there’s no way I’m staying with you.†Mindok warned, going into the bathroom and locking the door.
“Still, there’s hope.†Kimichi muttered, grinning.

sorry it took me so very long to get this out...i promise i'll catch you guys up. thank you to those who are still with me! i love you guys!
“Shut up, girl, or I’ll throw you out.†He snapped. She let out a bell-like laugh, clapping her tiny white hands together. Kimichi was dazzled by her simple delight and he beamed at her.
“Sweetheart, do you mind terribly if your brother and I went on a date tonight?†he asked, his voice husky as his giant hands stroked Mindok’s back softly, daring him to interject. And shakily, he met the challenge.
“Do you mind asking ME first?! I have plans!†his voice was weak, but still defiant. Kimichi ignored him and waited for the perpetual child to respond.
“I don’t mind at all. It might be nice to have Brother go out for once.â€Â
“Then it’s decided! Your brother and I will go to a movie tonight. Then we’ll come home, maybe cuddle on the couch…†Kimichi declared dreamily. Mindok rekindled his old fire and pulled away, rolling on the floor and standing up in a blink of an eye and began to yell.
“EXCUSE ME!! Don’t I have a say?! I said I already have plans!†Mindok’s face almost had color he was so livid.
“What could you possibly have planned that’s more important than playing with me tonight?†Kimichi teased.
“I have a concert tonight. I absolutely must be thereâ€'the ladies can’t just go on without me or change the date. Speaking of which, I should start getting ready.†Mindok growled indignantly at him and headed for the shower. Before he could step foot in the bathroom, his icy body was pressed against Kimichi in the doorway, and he found himself looking into rapidly darkening eyes.
“Ladies? You’re going to ditch me tonight for a group of women?†Kimichi’s normally sweet, carefree face was clouded by a darker emotion; his vampire nature finally showing itself as his broad lips curled over pearly fangs, now dripping with a fresh coat of venom. Mindok was startled at the sudden change in his demeanor and blurted the truth.
“Yes. The orchestra that hired me tonight is entirely female. Why should that bother you, oaf?†his voice was still cold, but his eyes were somewhat frightened. He was at the mercy of a vampire twice his size in weight and nearly a foot taller who was rapidly becoming more and more dangerous.
“I don’t want you to go. And if you absolutely must, wear my clothes.†Kimichi growled.
“What?! Why? I have a perfectly good tuxedo in the closet. I don’t need to go around looking like I couldn’t afford to even wear jeans!â€Â
“To show that you belong to ME. You’re far too beautiful to hang around a bunch of women all night and I don’t want anything to happen.†Kimichi said slowly, forcefully.
“You’re JEALOUS?! I can’t go make money to stay here at the inn because you’re JEALOUS?!†Mindok demanded hotly.
“You can stay here for free. You can come live in my room, and I’ll hold you all night like last night. Don’t go, Mindok, please.†His disposition changed again; pleading now.
“I don’t belong to you. I can’t stay here forever even if I do…love you and all. I’m going to leave some day, and never come back. Why do you think I won’t have sex with you? It’s bad enough I let you touch me, hold me. I can’t let you keep melting me!†Mindok pulled away and slammed the door in the blonde vampire’s face, stunning him in broken horror. Kimichi looked sadly at Nyara, whose round face was twisted into a mask of pity and sadness. She touched his large hand softly with her fingers and they stood silent; lifeless as marble as the sun began to wane once more.
“Mr. Kimichi…there’s…another secret I never told you.†She whispered once the shower water began to rain down on the copper-haired beauty inside the bathroom. “The true reason we never stay in one place, the real reason he’s so reluctant to love. It’s not just the oath he made to me…there’s a world more.â€Â

Mindok squirmed in vain, hissing like a cobraâ€'and spitting almost as much venomâ€'swearing to destroy him if he was not released immediately. Kimichi closed his eyes and held him until finally he got bored and gave up, realizing just how futile all his fighting was.
“Kimichi, let me go.†Mindok insisted.
“I really don’t feel like it, my love.†Kimichi purred seductively in his ear, thrilled as he felt the shiver dance down Mindok’s spine.
“I’m thirsty.†Mindok growled. Kimichi burst into a rumbling peal of laughter, the deep booming sound close to a melody in Mindok’s finely tuned ears. The tone was so rich and beautiful that Mindok closed his eyes, composing a tune out of just his laughterâ€'he quickly stopped himself, horror washing over his features as he realized just what was happening to him. His so carefully constructed guard was easily torn down by this man; he was becoming quite susceptible to his charms. The years of building ice around his heart was ultimately for naught when this cheerful man was around. Mindok had found his own weakness, and it was constantly coming back for moreâ€'he was completely melted now. This knowledge nearly made him scream, but he swallowed it into his depths as he trembled from the force. Kimichi gazed down at him, icy eyes curious at the sudden change of emotion from his captive.
“Min-chan, what’s wrong?†his deep voice was sweet, almost too innocent.
“First of all, NEVER call me that again. Second…I-I’m really thirsty. Let me go.†He lied shakily. A soft knock came from the door and the wide-eyed Nyara stepped in, her twinkling laughter swelling through the room.
“Why hello. I see you two made progress.†She teased as she glided into the room with such poise that the both of them could not help but gawk. She was dressed up in a lavender dress, hemmed with intricate lace and seemed to be made just for her tiny body; she was positively radiant before them, playing the part of the angel rather than the monster she was cursed to be. Kimichi beamed at her, embracing her disgruntled brother tightly to his chest.
“We certainly have! Your brother finally confessed himself and now we’re lovers.†He declared with such grandeur that she giggled in delight.
“We’re not lovers! We’re experimenting!†Mindok argued hotly, a deep frown twisting his lovely face. She laughed again, ignoring his attempts to free himself; refusing to help.
“Brother, don’t be a sourpuss.†She scolded, one ivory hand on her hip and the other waggling a finger disapprovingly at him.
“A sourpuss?!†he exclaimed, outraged, “I’m a bloody captive and you don’t want me to be SOUR about it?!†Kimichi grabbed his chin and tilted it to look at him. Flashing gold eyesâ€'wide with fury protecting a deeper, secret emotionâ€'a scowl distorting marble lips…he was breathtakingly beautiful when he was upset. Kimichi lowered his face and kissed those venomous lips softly, his love pouring out of him to douse the flurry of violent words about to be hurled at him. As he was beginning to expect, Mindok couldn’t say anything nasty to him directly anymore. He couldn’t bring himself to pull away, regardless of the fact he was pinned. Get any vampire angry enough and he’d find away to escape, as Kimichi was well aware and frightened of, but Mindok stayed still in his muscular arms. Kimichi lowered his face down to Mindok’s slender throat, and heard his strangled gasp. He chuckled to himself as he kissed him, feeling Mindok’s body twist and writhe in unwilling pleasure against his own.
“Mindok,†he purred in a sultry, low voice, “You don’t REALLY want to get away from me do you?†he kissed Mindok’s snowy neck coaxingly, brushing his cold skin with long eyelashes.
“N-not anymore…†Mindok confessed. Kimichi smiled at the little Nyara who was standing with her little mouth in a wide “o†of surprise.
“You’ve tamed my brother!! Kudos to you, Mr. Kimichi!†she giggled. She gained a deadly look from her brother, but the effect was dampened by the odd brightness in his eyes and his utterly defenseless state.
