      New Journal...in 5 Seconds

A friend of mine clued me into these 5-second movie things on Facebook. I've been watching them instead of working on papers and they're pretty good. But this one cracked me up...for obvious reasons.

      Halo 3. Campaign. Legendary. Alone.

And I'm all shiny and sexy in my new EOD/Security armor. Now for the roommate to get XBox Live so I can round out my armor selection.

      I liked it.

Only thing was, I watched the version where they all died first, not realizing there were 3 endings. And I almost started hating RvB right there. Good thing I kept an eye on the comments, or else all kinds of bad happenings would have...occurred.

I certainly hope they go for another hundred with Halo 3. Hopefully they'll bring Tex back too. It was nice to have one person whose only neurosis was tending to be extremely violent.

In the meantime, I guess I'll content myself with 1-800-MAGIC. It'll always live in the shadow of RvB, as will most of their future stuff, but I think I'm ok with that. Don't know what the deal is with The Strangerhood though. Ah well.

      I'm...back?

So I just noticed the last journal I posted was from before my trip to Europe. In March.

So in case anybody was wondering, yes I did get back safely and not missing any vital papers. And a girlfriend too, but that's an entirely different story.

      Going International

In approximately 1 week, I'll be making my first international trip in all my 21 awesome years of life. One of the music professors uses some of his tenure money to take 30 or so students to the Czech Republic in March and I'll be one of them.

The trip's 15 days (March 8-22) and only cost about $2300 pro vsechno (for everything). I did have to pass a language test of 75 words/phrases and the numbers 0-9, but that went just fine.

I'm skipping class on Thursday to head to DFW Airport in the afternoon. From there, we'll fly Lufthansa to Frankfort, Germany and then make another flight to Brno, Czech Rep. Most of our time will be spent in Brno, with side trips to various places around the country, including Prague a few times. There'll even be a visit to Vienna, Austria where some of us will see the famous Lippizaner Horses. I'm planning on making a trip to the Terezin concentration camp, Capucin monastery/coffee shop, and even a dinner boat cruise down the Moldau River.

All in all, this is gonna be a rockin' good time. There are 4 other people I know going, 2 of them very good friends, 1 of which will be turning 21. She's like my sister though, so no getting sloshed for her!

I'll see you again after I get back and if you're good, maybe there'll be some pictures involved.

Will I EVER Get to Go to Class?

Ok, so I got back to my apartment on Sunday.

      We had Monday off.

I don't have any classes on Tuesdays.

And today...it fucking snowed (or ice flaked or whatever) and the university's closed.

I mean hooray and all but seriously. Sooner or later, I want to actually do stuff.

      Making a Stand

I'm going to say something right now and it may be controversial. I may lose friends and people I don't even know may hate me. But sometimes you just have to stand up for what you believe in, regardless.

      Pirate cake.

      'Nuff said.

  • About Me

I get paid to go to college. No, really

Hey, click here to help me a little on this little RPG.

99% of all RvB users have some kind of crappy made-up statistic in their profile. If you're one of the 1% that hasn't succumbed to this fad, copy and paste this into your profile. Then realize you're now one of the 99%. Dumbass.

Rule of thumb, Hassan...you can't kill the Messiah!

I actually really liked the Jack/Norrington/Will fight. I thought it was very well choreographed. It could have looked completely goofy and fake, but they were always busy (as opposed to just standing around waiting for an attack while the other two fought).
And yes, the dog at the end was pretty retarded. I can't believe I stayed for that, but everyone kept telling me to. They got me all excited so it felt like a big let down.

You were right; the show was great! Everyone did a fantastic job, I think. Valjean had a gorgeous voice.
Little Eponine doesn't have any lines, so you might not have known it was her. She's in that same scene, before Mme. Thenardier sends Cosette out to fetch water. Little Eponine comes in wearing a nice dress and a bonnet, and Thenardier fusses over her a bit. They basically use all of Fantine's money on things for Eponine instead of Cosette.
I cried so many times. But I had a hard time getting into the second act because a guy had moved to the seat in front of me and he was really tall; he kept moving around so that I kept having to shift to see over his head. Which is unfortunate, because the second act is my favorite.
Oh also, you might not know, but Gavroche actually has/had his own song in the first act, but it got cut out for some reason. How sad. They gave him a revised version of it though, when they capture Javert ("Little People").

The two kids meaning little Cosette and Gavroche? Because there's also a little Eponine, but I don't think she has any lines. Generally they rotate the girls playing little Cosette and Eponine so they both get to sing. But Gavroche is one of my favorite characters in the show, so I'm glad he's good.

You went to see Les Miz, too? I'm so proud of you!
I JUST bought tickets to see it on Friday night. I hate having to wait so long to buy them, because I had to get seats all the way in the 3rd balcony, but the day we could go was so up in the air. But at least I'm going. I've seen it twice, so again, it's more to hear it than to see it, I suppose. The tour is supposed to be closing, so this is the last time an official tour will be coming through, and I very much wanted to go see it one last time. It has 2 wonderful female roles (and a fantastic male role as well), that it makes me so sad to see it go.
