    • MEGADETH, TESTAMENT and EXODUS

      LOST687

BLEW ME AWAY last night. Exodus played first, and they were alright, their sound was terrible, which was what I was expecting, the sound of the first band is always the worst. They kept trying to start moshes and stuff and it wasn't really working, haha, it was pretty funny. They kept the energy up though, it was pretty cool to see them keep playing so fast. I guess that because I don't really know anything by them I kinda got bored with them fast.

Then Testament came out and man, they were insane. I've only listened to a little Testament before and they were tearing it UP. Although Alex Skolnick wasn't there they still blew Exodus out the water with former MEGADETH lead guitarist Glen Drover, who was a lot better at playing Testament stuff than he was at playing MEGADETH stuff, and their legendary lead guitarist Eric Peterson as well. Their set got insane loud towards the end of it all, Chuck Billy was right on everything, it was good to see him doing so well now that he's recovered from his cancer, and the whole band was pretty well on top of things.

And then MEGADETH came out, they opened up with Skin O' My Teeth and just tore into the set with all the fury of a lion trapped in a cage. Then In My Darkest Hour was played which was followed up by "I would talk, but I know why we're all here!" which started Holy Wars... The Punishment Due, and began all of Rust in Peace in order from Holy Wars to Rust In Peace... Polaris. Then after RIP was played Dave turned to the crowd and went "Someone asked me a couple months ago "Hey, the twentieth anniversary of Rust in Peace's tour is coming around, do you think you can play that album?" So I turned to them and said "Hey, I wrote that album fuckhead."" Then he said "Alright, this next song, all you've got to do is say two words "HEAD! CRUSHER!" Let's try it!" he played a bit then got to our part and sang it with us, stopped went "Now it's your turn on your own." And started Headcrusher. Which then led to Dave Ellefson into starting The Right to Go Insane, which was AMAZING live. That lead into Trust and Dave Ellefson's bass solo was right on target and then Chris Broderick's solo was absolutely PERFECT. Trust then lead into Symphony of Destruction and then they walked off stage. The crowd started screaming "MEGADETH! MEGADETH! MEGADETH! MEGADETH!" and Dave Ellefson walked and goes "Hey, you guys having a good time tonight?! *crowd screams* Oh, no no, let's try that again, YOU GUY'S HAVING A GOOD TIME TONIGHT?!?!?!?! *crowd screams so loud it's heard on the microphone* Alright, well I'm gonna take you back to some old stuff here right now, we've played here in Lubbock a few times and uh, first time we were here we were almost kicked out of town for this song." And he started playing Peace Sells which was the closing song of the night. And man, it was AMAZING.

I bought a MEGADETH shirt with Dave Mustaine on it and then a MEGADETH necklace, I didn't have enough for a Testament shirt, which made me pretty sad. :'(

Next band I wanna see live is Lamb Of God. :-D

Sorry, I just kinda noticed this and felt like it was an odd thing and that I should mention it because it sort of disturbed me that my favorite website is becoming more and more lame every updated version of the site... What happened to the originality of this place? I loved the old system, the first one... It was the best to me... Always was... :-\ Sad day...

See now that's a good test of whether peeps are good friends or not. I get texts and messages from three of my good friends like every other day - by the way, if you're thinking of getting a BlackBerry, I recommend it. But you just gotta be patient with it sometimes.

Aww man! Quitting video games should be a crime. Although I must say most of my gaming lately has been on my handhelds (DSi mostly) - now I just need to find a game that my girl and I can both enjoy. lol.

    • Player_Calo

      Nah, it's not necessarily practice.
I just stopped using my wit so much after I dropped out of college - looking forward to going back this Fall though.
Never is a LONG time, I may not be into the new RVB series much, but that doesn't mean I'd completely forget about the fun I had on here - or especially the fun I had making comics for peeps. The only person or people who really reads them now is my late friend's little bro and then whoever else I show them too.
Overall, I've been really good lately. Living with my girlfriend and working in a new town - about the only thing I miss from my old life is friends, but then of course there is chatting online and online gaming to stay connected.
      How about yourself?

    • Player_Calo

Been sort of back for the past few months, but been remaking my comics, along with the few new ones, since last Fall.
The one about Miley Cyrus is probably one of my favorites, originally it was going to be Chris Crocker. But that's another story.
I really enjoyed revisiting those early comics, I feel like now I have difficulty though because my sense of humor isn't as good as it used to be.
Thanks for leaving the comments and friend request!

    • Blade54

yea dude, i love Dime to death but fuck take a break from him. let it all rest. he'd want that.
i would still buy his models, just the ones King Dime actually had in hand ya know? its not a signature model if he didnt use it. and the fuck is up with Dime Razorback V's?

    • Blade54

not often enough dude, not often enough
yes Dime was an amazing player and loyal to Deans in the beginning and end, but still. dont over-do it for him
he wouldnt like how they are taking advantage of him

    • Blade54

      its kinda getting outta hand
i dont want the guitar company i love to be feeding off Dime for selling their guitars

    • Blade54

i agree man. they should only have the models HE used, not these random ones Dime has never touched. i believe the models that should remain are the Dean from Hell, Dime Slime, Stealth, BlackBolt, the original Razorback(Dime designed it), the Dime-O-Flame, the tribute ML, and the Rebel Flag. thats all off the top of my head, and those Dime ALL used, besides the Razorback, he designed it
oh, and they need Original Floyds too

    • Blade54

      thats pretty sick dude
id get an ML shape(if they can do that), 22 frets, set neck, 2 volume 1 tone, 3 way switch, and an ultra thin neck with mahogany wood for the body and neck. id add the Bill Lawrence thats on my Dean to the custom along with a DimeTime neck pickup and a Floyd Rose bridge

    • Blade54

      yea D standard
dude customs cost a shit load. just for the hell of it i filled out a custom order form. it was $5000 for what i wanted
or are you talking about not a complete custom made guitar

    • Blade54

ive got my dream guitar pretty much too!

    • messenjah

      yep
and they figured that because iron maiden could do it they could do it too
      not quite
koz iron maiden is something special, plus its more bombastic, almost operatic, so they can pull it off but thing is cliff knew how to make 8 minute songs work and the rest of the guys didnt

    • messenjah

yeah its always kinda weird to wonder what could have been if cliff hadnt died
i have an issue of Metal Hammer magazine where they explored that, a bunch of hyothetical situations about how cliff could have maintained metallica on track

the problem with DM is simply that it drags out, its too long, some of the songs once you get past 4 or 5 minutes you're like "ok please wrap this up and move on to the next song"

    • messenjah

i think the killer for metallica was losing cliff
i know they did some good stuff after his death but its like when cliff was there they were killer (kill, lightning and master) and then justice was really a raw attempt at paying tribute to a fallen brother and it was good but then the black album was already them on their way down, there was some good stuff but it was already much less thrashy than before, i think bob rock had a lot to do with that, i really dont like him and i do in part blame him for metallicas downfall
i think DM had some good stuff but it also had some stuff that kinda makes you cringe... especially the chorus lyrics to "Broken, Beat And Scarred"

You rise, you fall, your down, then you rise again
What don't kill you make you more strong

whenever i hear that i feel like someone is scraping nails down my fucking skull

    • messenjah

the whole "not changing" thing is the reason i like them (or at least one of the main reasons) because they have their sound and they just fucking stuck with it which, in my opinion, is the metal way. im not against experimenting but when you get bands (**coughcough**metallica**coughcough) who go out of their way to change for reasons other than musical evolution (such as more commercial success) then i lose pretty much all respect for them
slayer do their thing and its kinda like "yeah people say we're still the same and who cares"

I'll have free rent and board if I get the business degree... but the illustration degree requires a dorm.

Gas mileage is very important to me, because I don't make much money in the winter. The olds got like 17-20 all the time. The MR2 is getting 30-32 in the city after new plug wires, fuel filter, and oil filter... The plug wires died completely, but that's another story.

Ah yeah, that would suck. I've never been to the east coast at all. I hope to go to Massachusettes sometime soon... really good friend there. New York sounds pretty awesome, I hope that goes well for you.

Speaking of speakers... the MR2 stock ones sound like their finally blown. But the sizes are so weird, I think I'm just gonna take them out and have them rebuit rather than buy all new ones and make custom spacers and all that. It's cheaper too, and I'm trying to keep my car fairly stock. I wish I had the cash for a good system... I hate money =[

For the most part yeah, the internet has alot of cool stuff. I got a sweet bracelet locally, though. Decepticon plate was from the internet. J!NX always has sweet stuff, I just don't have the money for it right now.

    • FalcoChick

I'm just trying to save up money for college, and maybe a motorcycle, too... because my mom pretty much said yesterday that we don't have any money left to help out with college. Good news is our house is paid off so we don't have to worry about that.

"gets good gas mileage" <- that's the problem with the winter car I had the past 2 years. It gets like... 17-20 and its a V6. I'm just looking for a 4 cylinder shitbox basically. That winter car is going back to my aunt in Detroit on Sunday anyway.

I broke a flip phone in half once, waiting for/buying a new one always sucks.

Is the choir thing for a competition? That's pretty sweet either way. I've never been able to do anything like that.

In other news, I also got a Decepticon plate for the front of the MR2 =] Should be pretty ba, and my car will no longer have a Hitler stache... so that's good.

I'm doing dec, working pretty much every day, but it's only like 20 hours a week or so. Probably gonna have to find a second job at some point.
Spent last night drumming up ideas for starting a local longboard/skate shop with my friend. He's gotta get a more steady job then he's gonna make a deck press. I get to do the art and painting and probably manage the place =D That works out well, because if I don't get a scholarship to get an illustration degree, I was gonna go to the community college to get a business degree, lol. (low on money...) It was fun though, we were thinkin up names and stuff.
Annnd I got a free 600 watt amp for the 12" sub I got for the MR2, but I still need to make a box... I got a very nice Pioneer deck for about 110$ too.Other than that, I'm just strongly purusing a winter car for like 1000$ or less lol. Gonna go check out a Ford Probe today....
