When Gon Tai was hit by Hong Lao’s Flying Tiger, Li Tai Bao knew that the Chi exerted by the attack will cause Gon Tai to be pushed back by the strong force. Since Gon Tai was in mid-air, he would’ve been pushed back into a wall or hit the ground from a great height, which could’ve caused serious injuries. Not wanting to see this, Li Tai Bao decided to prevent the fall from happening. Lacking sufficient time to think of a move that would have been able to conceal his martial arts origin, Li Tai Bao performed the one that he was most skilled with to catch Gon Tai â€" the Heaven Jump from Wu Tang.
During the days of the Condor Heroes, Yang Kuo and Kwok Tin, a young Shaolin monk named Truong Tam Fong was exiled from the Shaolin Temple for violating one of the temple’s most sacred rules â€" independently learning martial arts without a sensei’s approval. This rule came about as a result of a tragic incident that occurred in the Shaolin Temple ages ago. Back then, a young monk who worked inside the Shaolin Temple decided to attempt to learn one the 72 techniques of the temple by himself. After many years of hard work, this monk finally mastered the technique to the point that his skills exceeded that of the leader of the temple. As a result, the monk decided to leave the temple to show his strength in the outside world. The leader of the temple, not knowing the young monk’s true intentions, tried to prevent him from going for fears that he might be hurt and tricked by men’s evil plots and plans. After many failed attempts to talk out the matter, the young monk challenged the leader to a battle â€" if the leader wins, he will stay; if he wins, no one can stop him from leaving. The leader was desperate to stop the young monk’s from going down the wrong path; so, he agreed. After over an hour of fighting, the leader, though inferior to the young monk in techniques, eventually gained the advantage due to his superior Chi power and experience in combining different attacks. When victory was clear, the leader stopped fighting for fears of hurting the young monk. However, the young monk took advantage of this sudden cease-battle to perform a sneak attack on the leader. The attack caused serious internal injuries on the leader â€" cracking his spine, puncturing his lungs, and (due to the high Chi energy and the element of surprise) reversing his blood flow. These injuries were lethal, thus killing the leader within minutes. The young monk then took advantage of the confusion and chaos created by the death to run away. From that day on, fears of a repeat of the tragic event led to the creation of a rule that forbade every Shaolin monk from independently learning how to fight, under punishment of death.
Truong Tam Fong didn’t really learn how to fight secretly without letting his sensei know, but he accidentally self-taught himself the La Han technique by looking at wind-up La Han figures given to him for his birthday. Nevertheless, when the Shaolin monks found out about this, they decided to persecute him for fears of the past repeating itself. His sensei, the monk Giac Vien, didn’t want to see his student die; so, he boldly rescued his disciple from the Shaolin monks. On their escape route, Giac Vien also taught Truong Tam Fong the secrets of the Radiance Scrolls, a highly sophisticated and powerful Chi building technique. With the powers of the scrolls and his highly intelligent mind, Truong Tam Fong eventually created the Wu Tang Temple on the summit of Wu Tang. However, due to his long residency at Shaolin, the many techniques of Wu Tang often resembled those of the Shaolin Temple. The Heaven Jump is no exception; it focuses on the powers created by the Radiance Scrolls â€" a skill from Shaolin â€" to push one’s entire Chi to the feet, allowing a person to jump both quickly and with great height.

      ******

“That may be true; however, judging by your excellent demonstration of the Heaven Jump from Wu Tang, I can conclude that you are highly proficient in the Wu Tang style,†Yang Hong Lao replied.
“I wouldn’t call myself proficient, but my teacher was skilled in the techniques of Wu Tang,†Li Tai Bao answered. “He was a disciple there when he was young.â€Â
“Well, if you were taught by a person from Wu Tang, then you can at least show me what you have learned.â€Â
“My skills are very primitive; I have no chance of lasting a few minutes with you.â€Â
“I wouldn’t so sure of that. To perform the Heaven Jump with such speed and accuracy requires at least five years of training and a high level of Chi. On guard…â€Â
Immediately after this, Yang Hong Lao lunged toward Li Tai Bao with extreme speed. His fingers curved back again to form the Flying Tiger. Li Tai Bao, fearing a battle, quickly jumped out of the way to avoid having to confront Yang Hong Lao. Maddened by Li Tai Bao’s unwillingness to fight him, Yang Hong Lao swiftly changed his direction and attacked Li Tai Bao again. Similar to before, Li Tai Bao rapidly avoided Yang Hong Lao’s assault by dodging to the side once more. Within minutes, 20 moves were exchanged between the two, with Li Tai Bao avoiding all of them.
“We’ll get nowhere if you keep on dodging all of my attacks by this,†Yang Hong Lao exclaimed.
      “I already told you,†Li Tai Bao answered. “I don’t want to fight.â€Â
“I never thought that a disciple of Wu Tang would be such a coward. If you are like this, then your teacher must have had no skills at all.â€Â
This comment highly angered Li Tai Bao. If Yang Hong Lao had disrespected him, Li Tai Bao would’ve completely forgiven him without a second thought. However, disrespecting his teacher is out of the question.
“My teacher was a brave and honorable man,†Li Tai Bao coldly replied. “You have no rights to call him a coward!â€Â
“Then fight me and prove me wrong,†Yang Hong Lao mockingly answered.
      “As you wish…â€Â

      Lanthas

Inspired by Contractor's masterful story, I was moved to create one of my own. Here's what I have so far. Please reply to tell your opinion of the story (also excuse my punctuation, spelling etc... errors)

The full moon illuminated the August sky with a bright, white light. All around, sparkling stars were dancing in the heavens, enjoying the annual Moon Festival. The streets of Kaifeng were filled with entertainment stands, with topics ranging from poem riddles to puppet shows and martial arts performances. Each one of these streets was packed with people moving around or watching one of the many fabulous shows of the night. In their hands were colorful candle lanterns made from color papers and decorative illustrations depicting all kinds of animals and significant symbols of the Chinese culture. Hundreds of these lanterns filled each road, brightening even the darkest places, thus revealing everything that was concealed by darkness. Shops and restaurants were also crowded with customers, most of them just enjoying a few good drinks or talking with newly made friends. All in all, everyone was happily celebrating one of the most festive and eventful nights of the year.
A drunken man slowly stumbled out of one of the restaurants with a wine bottle in his hand. His clothing was made of colorful silk fabrics embedded with precious jewels and gems. A closer look at his face revealed that he is young, about the age of 20, and fairly handsome. His nose was tall, his eyes blue and alluring, and his cheeks reddened by the excessive amount of wine that he consumed. This young man was similar to many others at his age; he probably snuck out of his house that night to enjoy the festivity of the Moon Celebration. After five minutes of just walking around in circles, the young man eventually reached a crowded area where a group of people were enthusiastically watching a martial art performance between two middle age men.
"I think that Yang Hong Lao is going to win this fight,†a spectator said. “Look at his masterful command of the Tiger Jujitsu from the Shaolin Temple.â€Â
“I think I will have to disagree here,†another man replied. “The other man, Gon Tai, obviously has the advantage. Not only does he has a sword, but also observe his deft hand movements and quick attacks. This is truly a remarkable display of Kunlun sword techniques.â€Â
“No, my friend, you will soon learn that having a weapon is not the key to winning a battle. It’s the…â€Â
“I think the Shaolin Monk will win,†the young man interrupted.
“Who are you? And why would you say that?†the Kunlun supporter asked.
“I’m sorry for interrupting,†the young man replied. “My name is Li Tai Bao. I accidentally overheard your conversation and couldn’t resist from stating my opinion on the matter. If any inconvenience was made, please accept my apologies.â€Â
“No need for apologies,†the Shaolin supporter answered. “With the disciples of martial arts, it is difficult to not express our opinion. My name is Fa Bach Lao; it is an honor to meet you.â€Â
      “Same to youâ€Â
“The pleasure is also mine. Pleased to meet you, my name is Liu Dao,†the Kunlun supporter said. “Would you please explain why you thought that Yang Hong Lao will win despite the fact that Gon Tai has the obvious advantage?â€Â
“It’s actually quite simple. If you look closely at Gon Tai’s sword, you can see that it is mostly offensive, with very few defensive movements. This is highly detrimental to his chances of winning. Firstly, the lack of defense will allow his opponent to have easy access to all of the weak points in his body; therefore, with only a slight carelessness, his opponent will be able to control one of his weak points, thus ending the battle. Secondly, if you observe Yang Hong Lao’s attacks, you can see why he will definitely win. Despite his slow movements, Hong Lao’s move exerts a great amount of Chi, which can counteract against his lack of a weapon. I predict that Gon Tai’s next move will be the Heaven Slash; however Hong Lao’s will counteract that with Flying Tiger, which will knock Gon Tai off balance and end the battle.â€Â
Sure enough, just at that moment, Gon Tai jumped into the air and performed an aerial sword slash downward at Yang Hong Lao. The candle lights flickered off of his sword, creating a light aura that encircles Hong Lao, making it seemed impossible to escape the sword’s deadly blade. The crowd gave a big gasp of amazement, both to congratulate Gon Tai for his masterful maneuver and to warn Hong Lao of the attack.
“Gon Tai’s chest is open. That’s where Hong Lao is going to attack!†Li Tai Bao exclaimed.
Just like his prediction, Hong Lao suddenly lunged into the air, curved his fingers to look like a tiger claw, and then hit Gon Tai right in the chest. Right at moment, Gon Tai felt a huge rush of energy coming at him, as if the strength of a raging river is pushing him back. Unable to control this, Gon Tai was thrown backward into the air.
Suddenly, a shadow jumped toward Gon Tai with extreme speed and agility. It caught him before he could hit the ground and slowly set him down in an open space nearby. At this time, all eyes were focused upon this new figure. Everyone was wondering who this mysterious character was and how was it possible for him to move so quickly and silently.
Yang Hong Lao slowly walked up to the figure and said, “That was an excellent demonstration of the Heaven Jump from Wu Tang. Can I please learn your name?â€Â
“Mister Hong Lao, my name is of no importance, for I am just a commoner from this area. Please don’t trouble yourself,†the figure replied as it turned around to face Yang Hong Lao. It was no other than Li Tai Bao…

So, around last Tuesday, I went to Woodview Elementary to do some volunteer hours.
When I arrived at the cooking class, the second graders where having a recess period. All of them were running around - climbing trees, jumping off tables, chasing each others, showing off cool tricks ... etc. However, when the teacher called out, "snack time," all of them stopped, got in a single file line and waited patiently to get their snack (I swear it was like a Nazi Boot Camp). After each kid got his/her snack, they all sat down around the table and started to eat it. Obviously, when kids eat, they tend to talk to each other, but their subject of conversation was weird. Instead of talking about sports, games, or food, all of them focused on one subject - dating. One kid was going, "I know that this girl like this guy" and another went "I an positive that this guy like you"... So after about five minutes of that, the conversation switch to "how long would you stay with your girlfriend/boyfriend if you have one". Similar to before, everyone has his/her own opinion. One said two weeks, another three, and one guy said one per day. Unfortunately, I happened to walk by at that moment. One of the kids came up to me and asked, "Sir, what grade are you in?"
      "Tenth, " I answered.
      "Do you have a girlfriend?"
      "Uh.......no"
"Huh?!!! You don't, how can you not have one?"
      "I'm sorry, I just don't have one."
"Well, if you do, how long would you stay with her?"
"Uh.... can I not answer this question?"
"No, you have to tell me."
At this point, I decided to set a good example for these children, so I said forever. When the kid heard this, he went "Wow, you're a good person." (Embarassing) I am definetely not helping out with cooking class anymore.

Spring Break is finally here. I'm planning to stay home all week long but I'll have plenty of things to do.

      1. Read all of Jane Eyre (the book's pretty good so it doesn't matter)
      2. Do all of homework. Teacher claimed that spring break is for relaxing and fun, but she still made us take notes (detailed) on two chapters in our book and write and essay.
      3. Find time to enjoy life

So, where is everybody going for Spring Break? Mod points awarded to the first five people who post something out of the norm

Well, every Texas students (except seniors) who are in high school will have to sit down and take either the reading or ELA TAKS tomorrow, a whole bunch of BS if you ask me. I mean, who really cares about standardized testing except for the big heads who sit in Austin and have nothing better to do?!!! Anyways, good luck tomorrow to all Texans and do well.

Okay so yesterday I went to the math contest at the University of Houston. I took three exams - Team Project, Calculator, and Pre-Calculus. I was on the same team as three of the smartest people in our class - Philip Lambrakos, Jeffery Song, and Stephen Dria - so a stupid person like me lucked out. Hopeful about the Team Project. Calculator and Pre-Calculus was okay (not too sure about them).

Well, our orchestra skipped about half of the school day to go to the U.I.L and Sightreading Contest at Cinco Ranch High School. Even though the bus ride there was extremely hot and nasty (what can you expect from the yellow bus), we pulled together and got 1, top score, from all six of our judges. Go Team!!!

P.S. The ride back to school was also nasty

    • The Long Grading Period

      Lanthas

Well, 5th Six Weeks of the school year is both long and boring. I mean it the grading period before the last one and its actually seven weeks instead of six; so everyone is bored and tired after the period is over. I managed to pull through with some fairly decent grades:

      Orchestra: 100
      World Geography: 96
      Biology: 94
      Study Hall: 100
      Spanish II: 97
      English I: 96
      Algebra II: 100

I vow to use this primitive knowledge of mine to go around and do absolutely nothing of value on the RvB Website. (Just kidding)

Here's the Joke of the Day

There were three samurai who boasted that their skills were the best in the land. One day, they decided to see who the best samurai is. The object of the contest was to kill something small, like a mosquito with your eyes closed.

The first samurai sat in a clearing with his eyes closed, listening for the sound of a mosquito. At that moment, a mosquito flew by. The samurai lashed out his sword and kill the mosquito in less than one second.

The second samurai did the same thing, he killed another moquito.

The third samurai sat down, closed his eyes, and waited for a mosquito to come by. When a mosquito came close to him, he swung his sword at the mosquito, but the mosquito lived and flew away.

The two other samurai laughed at the third one a said, "Why did you even compete? You couldn't even kill a tiny mosquito!"

The third samurai replied, "I didn't kill it because I felt sorry for it."

      "Why?" the other asked.

"Because he won't be able to have any more children ever again."
