    • Being British...

      Lorgar

Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV.

And the most British thing of all?

      Suspicion of all things foreign!

Only in Britain can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

Only in Britain do supermarkets make sick people walk all the way to the back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in Britain do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a DIET coke.

Only in Britain do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counters.

Only in Britain do we leave cars worth thousands of pounds on the drive and lock our junk and cheap lawn mower in the garage.

Only in Britain do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

Only in Britain are there disabled parking places in front of a skating rink.

      NOT TO MENTION…

3 Brits die each year testing if a 9v battery works on their tongue.

142 Brits were injured in 1999 by not removing all pins from new shirts.

58 Brits are injured each year by using sharp knives instead of screwdrivers.

31 Brits have died since 1996 by watering their Christmas tree while the fairy lights were plugged in.

19 Brits have died in the last 3 years believing that Christmas decorations were chocolate.

British Hospitals reported 4 broken arms last year after Xmas cracker-pulling accidents.

18 Brits had serious burns in 2000 trying on a new jumper with a lit cigarette in their mouth.

A massive 543 Brits were admitted to A&E in the last two years after trying to open bottles of beer with their teeth.

5 Brits were injured last year in accidents involving out-of-control Scalextric cars.

      And finally...

In 2000 eight Brits were admitted to hospital with fractured skulls incurred whilst throwing up into the toilet.

      I have returned....

Like the phoenix, I have risen from the flames of war!!! (well, I say war, I mean a lack of broadband...)

It's been a while, but I'm finally back online. How's everyone?

I came, I saw, I conquered all but one.....

The Tournament was last weekend and I went in with the aim of finishing in the top half - that and get my hands on a couple of specific cards. So you can imagine my amazement as making the top 4 cut and then getting into the final after that!!

I honestly believe I could have won as I had beaten the guy who won in the swiss rounds, but I was very unlucky. Still, I can't complain too much - I rode my luck in a couple of places to make the final.

Got my first paypacket for a long time today - now I can enjoy a few luxuries again, like eating something other than cardboard....lol. The flip side is that I have built up a bit of debt for things like rent and utility bills, so the next couple of months will be spent clearing this backlog before I can truly enjoy my cash again.

    • Update....

      Lorgar

It's been a while since I did anything on here so I thought I'd update you guys on what's been happening in my world.

Firstly (and most importantly) I HAVE A JOB!!!! At last.........
It's been 4 months since I was in work, so finally I will have a bit of money coming in. I have a lot of debts that have stacked up over the last few months, so it will take me a couple of months to clear them, but after that - party time......

Secondly, I've started building up a small force of World Eaters. I'm getting bored of using the same army every time I play 40k, so I plan to have a small force for each Chaos Legion, so that I have a bit of variety. I did toy with the idea of doing a small Imperial force and a small Tau force, but they just don't capture my interest in the same way as Chaos.

Thirdly, I've been playing a lot of Dark Millennium recently in an effort to build up my deck and experience in preparation for the World Championships in August. I picked up some more cards on monday taking part in the local Orb of Shadows event and will hopefully be able to strengthen my deck further before the big event.

So that's a quick round up of what's been going on. Catch you later......

We have been invited to take part in the Imperial vs Xenos 40k quiz. Ideally we need a team of 10 people, so if anyone wants to volunteer, reply to this message.

    • Dark Millennium UK Tournament...

      Lorgar

I was hoping I might be able to finish somewhere near mid-table at yesterday's UK finals, so I was very happy to finish inside the top half overall. There were 28 competitiors, including the German champion who came over to take part and I finished 13th, so all in all a good result really.

The event was based around the Orb of Shadows campaign that's just starting, and all our results directly affect the outcome of the storyline, which makes a change for me as Games Workshop campaigns state similar claims but never deliver (remember the Eye of Terror campaign - Chaos won convincingly but to allow that result would have basically ended 40k as we know it, so the result was "dumbed down"). That freedom is allowed in card games, because the storylines are smaller. Each player was given a set of new sectors and we all got a copy of the new Orb of Shadows artifact, a powerful addition to any deck and pretty rare - only 4000 of these cards have been printed for world-wide distribution, and can only be obtained at Orb events. I also managed to pick up a couple of cards as prizes (see below), did a bit of scrounging after the tournament and managed to get my hands on a couple of copies of Lucius the Eternal to further boost my deck, so all things considered, I had a great day.

      GELLGAAR.jpg THEWORDSDELIVERER.jpg
These were the 2 cards I received as prizes....

This was my first big event for DM and it gave me an idea just how powerful some decks can be - obscene is a word that springs to mind. But I had a lot of fun, picked up a few tips and gained a better insight into the game. I'm looking forward to August in anticipation of the World Championships....

    • Dark Millennium Nationals...

      Lorgar

The UK Nationals for Dark Millennium are tommorrow and I'm going, along with other RvB regulars, Mortarion and Elfboy. Luckily for us the event is being held at Warhammer World, so we don't have far to go (it's a 30 minute walk for me).

I've spent the last few days putting in some practice and trying to build a decent deck, but in all likelyhood, if I take one of my decks I'm probably going to get my arse handed to me on a platter, so I'm borrowing one of my housemate's decks. He's a Scout for Sabretooth games and has been playing a lot longer than me, so his decks are much stronger. Hopefully I'll finish in a decent postion (I'm aiming for mid-table) and I'll let you know how things go.

So overall things are good. Thats nice to here

I just recently got a job, the pay is really good (£10,500 a year, so that being £875 a month without tax) and am just glad things are working out for myself (started losing weight, being alot more active and socialising more)

Hobby wise I have dropped chaos marines in favour of traitor guardsmen (got imperial armour 5 and waiting for 6 to come out)

coming of age I guess, The old name just reminds me of so much depression and teenage angst I have suffered with for the past six or so years.

I guess Dead Malice had a ring with it to show the old self is dead and the new more older and maturer self is here
