      MC_Endurance

It appears I havnt made a Journal in 3 months!

Well lets see...its the end of summer. I had a great summer. Worked for 3 weeks then I went to Washington DC for a week then came home and chilled for 3 weeks and then a friend of mine came to visit for 2 weeks and now im here. For anybody who cares what I did in between, I did nothing except........Go out and not drink, go out and drink and play xbox. Got The Darkness.....quality game, I'd recommend it!

Anyways expect my Tri-Monthly update sometime around November! lol

Just so everybody knows, I still come on here most days, I'm just too lazy to post a journal.

      Bye for now,

      Rich.

I feel that an update is in order....considering my last journal was 2 months ago and that im still on here like everyday.

Well theres another 2 weeks left in school...thank god. But to be fair the year has gone by pretty fast and has had its usual ups and downs, so right about now im just looking forward to chilling out during the summer. Anyone got any plans for summer?

Expect another update sometime during the summer...lol.

    • St. Patrick's Day

      MC_Endurance

Well as you all know St .Patricks day has arrived, and seeing as I'm Irish I feel obliged to make a journal entry. To begin I will start off with a short history lesson.

Though history saw celebrations of feasts in his honor, St. Patrick's Day was not officially recognized until 1976. Saint Patrick has been credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland as well as being the man that rid the country of snakes.

Well, right now is the calm before the storm. It's 12:33pm and in about an hour I will go out and break every rumour, thought or idea you have with the Irish and drinking. St.Paticks day isnt about celebrating St.Patrick, no no no, to the Irish it is the sole reason to get very drunk. Last year in our little country over 300 people got arrested on this glorius day for drunk and disorderly.....accomplishment I hear you say? I guess so. It has gotten to the stage where off-licences (liquor stores...where they sell alcohol!) won't be allowed to open until 4pm and it's rumoured that a Cop will be at everyone of them. But you gotta love it!

Well where ever you are, enjoy your weekend and have an Alcholic Beverage on me and you can count on me to not be on here until about Monday....hopefully smiley0.gif

      Bye!

This week has been pretty hectic. I broke my computer on tuesday, How you say? I kicked it..... So seeing as my computer is like a lifeline to me it wasnt really a good week. The only good thing to come out of it was, because I had nothing better to do I actually studied....and I have no upcoming exams! Weird huh? Thats all going down the drain now though as I have my computer back. In other news theres only 25 more days til Spring Break! Can't wait for spring break..... Sleeping in being the part im most looking forward to, anyone else find that school just takes all your energy? and then after Spring Break theres 42 days til summer! Anyways enough anticipation. Bye for now!

I think the previous journal was getting a bit old....

Just another 30 days until another break from school, its only a week long but it gets closer to summer and the days start to get longer. Anybody else hate that about winter the way the days become much shorter? It can get quite depressing.

My next topic for discussion is the iPhone, so what is everyones opinions on this? I personlly love it. I've been thinking to myself if Apple made a phone out of this thing theyd make a fortune. Not only did they just shove some phone software onto an iPod but they re-did it completely and I think it just looks unreal. The touchpad just topping it off.

So whos hoping who will get into the Superbowl?? Personally I'm a Bears fan so obviously I'd like to see them get in.

      Well thats it, im out!

Secondly I'd like to share an interesting fact that I posted over a year ago read it if you want. A mod for the first 5 posts, no double posts.

      The Real Truth About Santa!

No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer, which only Santa has ever seen.

There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. BUT since Santa doesn't (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish & Buddhist children, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total -378 million according to Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that's 91.8 million homes. One presumes that there's at least one good child in each.

Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with. This is due to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 822.6 visits/second. That is to say that for each Christian household with good children, Santa has .001 second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, get back into the sleigh and move on to the next house.

Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false but for the purposes of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking about .78 miles/household, a total trip of 75.5 million miles; not counting stops to do what most of us do at lease once every 31 hours, plus eating etc. So Santa's sleigh must be moving at 650 miles/second, 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a pokey 27.4 miles/second. A conventional reindeer can run, tops, 15 miles/hour.

If every one of the 91.8 million homes with good children were to put out a single chocolate chip cookie and an 8 ounce glass of 2% milk, the total calories (needless to say other vitamins and minerals) would be approximately 225 calories (100 for the cookie, give or take, and 125 for the milk, give or take). Multiplying the number of calories per house by the number of homes (225 x 91.8 x 1000000), we get the total number of calories Santa consumes that night, which is 20,655,000,000 calories. To break it down further, 1 pound is equal to 3500 calories. Dividing our total number of calories by the number of calories in a pound (20655000000 / 3500) and we get the number of pounds Santa gains, 5901428.6, which is 2950.7 tons.

The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized Lego set (2 lb.), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, not counting Santa, who is invariably described as overweight. On land, conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300lb. Even granting that "flying reindeer" (see #1) can pull 10 TIMES the normal amount, we cannot do the job with 8, or even 9, reindeer. We need 214,200. This increases the payload - not counting the weight of the sleigh - to 353,430 tons. This is four times the weight of the ocean-liner Queen Elizabeth.

353,000 tons traveling at 650 miles/second creates enormous air resistance. This will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as a spacecraft reentering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer will absorb 14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy. Per second. Each. In short, they will burst into flame almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them and create deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within .00426 of a second. Meanwhile, Santa, will be subjected to centrifugal forces 17,500.06 times greater than gravity. A 250 lb. Santa, being very conservative in terms of guessing Santa's weight, would be pinned to the back of his sleigh by 4,315,015 lb. of force. If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he's dead now.

    • Ups & Downs of the Gaming Year

      MC_Endurance

BEST GAME: "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion." It has monsters, dungeons, swords and sorcerers, so on one level it might seem like "Oblivion" is hardly an original, praiseworthy game. But it is. The seamless presentation of a living, breathing, 3D world that's open for exploration is beyond anything that's been done before in a video game. Rated M, $59.99, Xbox 360, $49.99 Windows PC.

BEST FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER: "Gears of War." The Xbox 360 console gets another stellar action game in this short but supremely satisfying shoot `em up. It's an intense, graphically stunning game of humans against aliens that turns the genre on its head by forcing players to flank and duck for cover instead of mindlessly shooting. Rated M, $59.99, Xbox 360.

BEST PORTABLE GAME: "LocoRoco." Sony's PlayStation Portable finally received a great, original game this summer with "LocoRoco." Heaps of cuteness, creativity and charm made what could have been another boring platformer into one of the year's most original and irresistible video games. Basically, you get to move an ever-growing blob around the bizarre levels by tilting the world left or right. It sounds weird, and it is â€' in a very good way. Rated E, $39.99, PlayStation Portable.

BEST GAME FOR THE OLDER CONSOLES: "Okami." Next-gen may be all the rage, but the old video game consoles still have some fight in them. "Okami" is proof. The epic "Final Fantasy XII" was a close second to this fantastic work of art for the PlayStation 2 by Capcom. "Okami" got the nod, though, for its brilliant game design and dreamlike visuals. As AP reviewer Lou Kesten said: "It's unlike anything you've ever seen in a video game, and it's breathtaking." PlayStation 2, $39.99.

BEST EXCUSE TO GET OFF THE COUCH: Nintendo Wii. Anyone who plays the included "Wii Sports" will almost certainly come to the same conclusion: this thing is really fun! Seriously, button tapping can't compete with this system's intuitive, tactile remote controls that must be swung around. Just be careful: Nintendo is looking into reports that the remote straps can break in the heat of the action and turn into dangerous projectiles. MSRP $250.

WORST CONSOLE LAUNCH: PlayStation 3. Sony Corp. had already delayed its much-hyped uberconsole twice this year, then botched the launch with only a few hundred thousand units available. The result? Chaos among the clamoring masses and a bunch of mostly empty-handed gamers. Sony still insists it will have a million units available by the end of the year, but it should have had that many on hand Nov. 17. We're willing to overlook the $600 price, however, if only we could find one: it's still darn cheap for a Blu-ray movie player. MSRP $600 or $500 depending on version.

WORST INDUSTRY TREND: Micropayments. Apparently, the idea of giving enthusiastic gamers the tools to freely create and share their own levels and items for video games on the consoles isn't profitable enough. This was the year when video-game companies began offering these extras for a few dollars each, instead. These so-called micropayments may help pad the earnings reports of big game publishers, but with top titles now fetching $50 to $60, it just seems greedy.

WORST SPORTS GAME: "Torino 2006." The official video-game version of this year's Winter Olympics was a drab series of snowy events that suffered from a lackluster selection of competitions and flaky controls. The action here was about as much fun as watching ice cubes form in the freezer. Just another rip-off game disguised as a "budget" title. $19.99, PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox.

WORST VIDEO GAME MOVIE: "Stay Alive." When will someone in Hollywood wake up and realize that video games are meant to be played, not turned into movies? Apparently not in 2006, which saw the ill-fated flop "Stay Alive." The premise is something a team of monkeys could have devised (who knows, maybe that's how it happened): players who die in a new video game end up dying in the real world, too

      Opinions?

ok, so...i was reading a thread and you were talkin about having to get up early to shave, or buying an electric razor.
might i reccomend shaving in the shower (get a fog free shower mirror, a mach 3 turbo because its awesome and better than the mach 3, and use the hot water as a lather instead of trying to use cream or gel.) i learned in the military that it saves time, and the hot water opens up your pores so you get a better shave

Is that $6 or 7 for the entire night...? or per hour? If its the whole night that is a friggen great deal, if its per hour then you are getting your money gypped from you. The problem with the one I go to is that you don't get any deals unless you are a member. Which costs $30 Canadian per year I believe.. but i just don't go often enough to make it worthwhile.

Why would you go to an internet cafe to play games when you can just do that at home?!

Because an Internet Cafe has like 10 games that I don't have... plus that way you can meet new people that have the same interests as you and when you are on the computer you can actually be with the people you are playing against rather than across a country.

We played two back to back rugby games today in solid mud. So much fun. Won the first one 73-0 then won the 2nd one 20-14. It was so much fun. Second team was cheating and playing really dirty, plus the ref sucked. It was still awesome, being covered in mud is too cool.
