Journal Time! I need to have more of these special times....

Well, for the past week, I've been at Show Choir Camp; in fact, it was ShowChoir Camps of America (SCA), which is apperently a lot more of a big deal than I originally thought. smiley7.gif

The camp itself was fun, but when you're a shy, different girl (a.k.a. short hair, an unwillingness to wear tight short-shorts, etc.) thrown into a society of Barbies and drama kings who all know each other, your sociablity just all out DIES. Now, here I am at home, trying to get over a sore body, a lack of voice, AND exhaustion, and my family beaks the news to me that we're going on a mini, three day vaction with close relatives. Ouch.

So, the general idea is (particularly to all who I'm making pictures for), please be a little more patient with me. It'll be--as I said--about three more days before I can start working. I assure you, I will put my full effort into them when I finally am able to "Paint" them.

smiley5.gif I just wanna stay home and sleep.....

Woo-hoo! I'm headin' for Acen! I'll be missing until Sunday (though I doubt it will be different from any other time), and I'm just SO EXICTED!!!

      *jumps around for a while*

Hopefully I'll see The Guys there--or at least one or two of them--and...yeah! That's pretty much the whole story.

Also, I finally got my Halo toys--er, action figures. True beauty at it's finest. smiley0.gif See you all around!

I really need to keep up with myself. See? I've been on the site a lot recently, and I always had a sneaking suspiction that there was soemthing I wasn't doing... poor, neglected, journal entry... smiley7.gif

News? I'm getting a shipment of Halo action figures, soon. Steel Spartan, White Elite, and Hunter set, baby! smiley0.gif

    • Japan-America Switch Off!

      M_O_DuFrense

Last August, I went to Japan (if you're a friend, you'll probably remember all my excitement...and the late-posted pictures). Well, this week, I'm hosting the student I stayed with in Toyohashi! Her name's Kimi and she already adores America. She has studied English for three years, one more than I have studied nihongo. We're not really fluent in each others' languages, but with a little help from our friend, Mr. Japanese-English Dictionary, everything's oing swimmingly!

Yeeeeah....a quick little update on my end o' the world. Cheers! smiley8.gif

      M_O_DuFrense

Well, I have appeared, once again, to give an update on the world on this end. Not that it's better than any of your worlds, let me tell you, but it gives me a reason to be active here! I really need to do that more often, anyhow. smiley0.gif

Umm....actually, the only big news I have is the end of OGT testing. *shudder* Like a demon, it 'twas! For five days straight, I, along with the other sophomores in my school, was imprisoned in unfamiliar rooms as we watched the rest of the school leave. Then, for three or so hours, we had to take five core subject tests, one each day. I'd always get done with an hour to spare, so the only choices I had were either reading, drawing, or sleeping (my personl favorite).

Thank goodness they're done! *sigh of relief*

The good thing that came from this, though, was I was introduced to the writings of Terry Pratchett. I definately suggest him as a "highly likeable" writer, and suggest his material with enthusiasum (though not as much as Michael Crichton smiley12.gif )!

......And, just because it has been so well noted by my fellow peers, I got to see 300 last Sunday with AllisonTex and two of my gamer buddies. As a Halo fan, I can definately see why the super soldiers were chosen to be "Spartans." They were amazing....and, apparently, it was a real battle that took place in the movie, so I think I'll Wiki it up and check it out. smiley8.gif

    • As I Write To You With Numbing Toes....

      M_O_DuFrense

*sigh* I need a leash for this site, or something of the sort. How could I let myself get so far behind? How?!?

Well, one of the main factors is winter. That's right; miserable, freezing winter. I don't actually hate this season, but if it means coming down to your carpet-less, stone-walled, half-the-windows-are-falling-out, basement in sub-zero temperatures, surving by wearing seven layers, you'd stay upstairs, wouldn't you? I mean, this morning while I was letting our dogs out, my toes went numb standing inside at the door. The time it took? 30 seconds. Yikes.

No wonder our schools have shut us out for two days now....

On a brighter (and possibly warmer) note, I'm offically 16! I know my profile might say differently, but it was an honest error on my part. However, my estimated driving age is still 47, and the only thing that might change that is the promise of sleeping in on school mornings....mmm.....extra napping time.......

Another fun little tidbit is that AT and I have gotten into the Sim 2 craze! I know the actual craze was a year or two ago (we're late trenders, we are) but we still have a good time with it, none the less. smiley0.gif

And, before I forget, to Degenerate89:

You are a true-blue red Red V.s. Blue devotee. See, while the rest of us just sit around lazily with our Pay-Pal accounts and get things we order a short time after we order them, you had to go through with waiting for your money to get there and to recieve your actual order. Bravo, sir! I solute you!

These have been your morning anouncements. *click* *feedback* *silence*

      M_O_DuFrense

Well, as a nifty little update in my life (those around me will try to convince you that I'm obsessed), I have finally gone to the point of ordering stuff off the RT store page. It was amazing! Within three-four days of AT's and my orders, we got our stuff! Simply amazing!

If any RT staff member ever reads this (highly unlikely), I just want to let them know that they are officially the most kick-ass site in my life (possibly the world) and are so perfectly efficient, they put major sites like eBay to shame (which isn't that hard, really).

For those who care (if you didn't why would you be reading this in the first place? smiley8.gif ), I got a Doc character shirt, the Church "That's right. I'm a gay robot" quote shirt, and the button pack. I help define what it means to be a geek! smiley0.gif

Also, as a nifty little side thing, my friend makes clay-mation movies, all part of the "Capture the Flag" series. I'm a voice actress in his stuff and also a kind of co-producer. Though it has no real meaning to anyone but me, he's finishing up the 3rd movie! Working on those movies is my personal little indulgence of the week. smiley8.gif

Exams are almost done! I just need to do the Choir one tommorow and I'm home free! Whoo-hoo! Friday's Halo tournament, here I come!

Egads! If I had been someone else, rather than me, which is sort of already implied, I would have guessed that I was dead! Or living ina ditch by the side of the road with a veru friendly family of ducks. Well, let's see....excuses, excuses...oh! I have some.

Well, as soon as the "holiday season" (November to...possibly......July) hits, my teachers see it as a character building time. Within a week, I was assigned four Advanced Placement U.S. History Essays and a Japanese project (sensei! I thought you were my friend!). Most of my time was dedicated to that.

And, of course, being lugged to a family mass meeting doesn't help. Still, it was quite fun! My little cousins seem to think of me as their own, personal punching bag....those loveable lil' tykes....I actually think of it as a compliment! My youngest boy cousins (who, for their own privacy, will now be known as "Spiderman" and "BlueEagle") are somewhat attcached to other people, but I'm told that when AT and I aren't with them, they're heart-broken. So, just call me your friendly neighborhood punching bag/ monster / team rocket member / whatever else they claim I am while they throw toy shopping carts at me. smiley0.gif

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas~

Sure, they're not the most impressive, and there aren't many, but I got all these from a guy with no photo-talents and I am working under ID censorship. You won't see me or any of my group buddies in the pictures, but there is one with Sensei in it! Enjoy. smiley8.gif

The vending machines there were very fun and bright! My personal favorite drink that I recieved from these machines were "Bubbleman Two," "Aquarius," and peach nector. Yum!

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0444.jpg

Our very first breakfast! Though it might seem expected, it was still very delicious. It was the hotel's prepaired breakfast and I wish I could eat it more. *sniffle*

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0462.jpg

As the name implies, this was Ikebukuro station, our first major railway stop in Tokyo. There were many people, pigeons, and crazy tourists, like us!

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0464.jpg

Just another picture from our adventures in Tokyo, including our major shop-a-thons.

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0467.jpg

We were lucky enough to have to visit Tokyo's capital building during our stay; this was the courtyard. Many group photos were taking here, none of which I'll be posting. Sorry...

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0473.jpg

The actual building. It was huge!

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0474.jpg

The view from the capital building was incredible. You just couldn't see the end of Tokyo; it made New York look like model town. smiley7.gif

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0477.jpg

Extreme street crossing! Move fast or get trampled to death; now that's motivation!

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0489.jpg

A "swimming sushi" bar. All the plates are put on a convayor belt and you just grab what you want to eat, the number/color of plates you grab decides your bill. I actually had video footage before everything got deleted...

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0495.jpg

Um....there's not much to say abou this. My sensei's friend took us by this perticular shop, and so of course, we had to stop for pictures. Sensei (the guy standing in the middle of the picture) looks really embarassed, but we could all tell he was having a blast. And, for those of you curious enough, the pink one's yelling "Georgie!", and the yellow one's calling out to "Emily!" Odd.

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0496.jpg

Finally, we're in Toyohashi. This is the Tea Ceremony Club, just one of the various clubs I wish our school had. Very cool.

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0502.jpg

An exhibit from a Natural History Museum we got to visit. There was a mammoth skull from Russia!

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0524.jpg

The place with the mammoth exhibit was part of a theme park--zoo--Science Museum--garden complex. The place was fun on it's own, but many inside jokes were born here. Tee hee...funnel cakes....

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0552.jpg

Our sensei took us to tour a traditional hotel; these were the outside gardens. Once again, another place of many pictures, most which were too bad to even tell what they were.

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0553.jpg

But, all good things must come to an end. The reason I chose this picture, even if it's not perfect, is because I remember how much I cried when we all said good-bye to the people we had spent all our time with. Also, the girl in the middle was my host sister. I really miss her...

      i69.photobucket.com/albums/i64/PhinJuuki/100_0611.jpg

I wish I could have put more pictures up, but those were the best I could find. I might be able to get more from everyone else, but that'll take another six months, probably. smiley6.gif

    • Alrighty, I've got some explaining to do

      M_O_DuFrense

I haven't been on since Halloween-ish! It makes me sad to think of all the missed conversations there were, all the goings-on, and anything else there was....but do you know why?

      Viruses. By the truckloads.

Our dear old computer was doing fine and dandy, living the high life, when suddenly Mr. Trojan came prancing along with his buddy, Ol' One-eyed Spyware and his wife, Adware. They mugged my computer, stole his money, and ate his brains! Luckily, the magic people down at our local computer hospital fixed him right up and now, he's better than ever! Even sparklier, too.

Well, more to the point....hmm...stories...oh! I did get a digital picture of my Halloween costume, so expect that to be up here soon.

Also along the picture line, I finally got a disk from one of my group buddies from our
TRIP TO JAPAN!!!. I'll probably have that up in a couple minutes, so enjoy!

I had a good book geek-a-thon; I am now the proud owner of nine Michael Crichton books: Jurassic Park, Lost World, The Andromeda Strain, Prey, Congo, The Terminal Man, Sphere, State of Fear, and Timeline. I've haven't read the last two, but I just read Sphere today, and I'm trying to get ahold of his brand new hardcover, Next. Borders loves me, I tells ya. smiley0.gif

Now, Halo/Gaming related (besides catching up on episodes/comics here smiley8.gif ), AT and I got the 360! Now we just need games...we'll buy the first two Halos soon--we're borrowing AT's friend's Halo 2--and we have Halo 3 on preorder. Still, my secret fantasy is to get Viva Pinata, not having to do with any recent comics posted here.

And, as one final boring little self-goal of mine is that I finally got my first Halo actin figure; the Heratic Elite. I can pose him to look like a balarina! Tee hee....

      It's good to be back!

In that case, there's guilt to share. All I do is check for comics and episodes. Oh the webs we weave.

Anywho. I myself am on summer vacation. Second year of uni. down, who knows how many more to go. I've sort of got a job (kind of sort of maybe technically) and am on the quest for another - as long as it's not fast food (or food in general.) Other than that, everything's dandy.

I'm sure I could easily click a few buttons and do this myself, but because I'm far too lazy, let AT know I said hello, if you please.
