    • My Baby Girl

I had my daughter, Elisebeth Grace, on August 22. She was 7 lbs, 3 oz and 19 inches long.

Now that I got all the stuff people always ask about out of the way, on to the good stuff. She's growing so super fast. People still look at her and do the "She's so tiny" thing. But she's definitely grown. A lot. And she of course loves me since I've got the milk jugs. But she just recently started doing real smiles and she saves some for her daddy.

She, of course, has tons of cute clothes. Because that's what they make for baby girls. She hates baths and diaper changes. She makes noises like a squeak toy. And when she farts or poops, sometimes it wakes us up, it's so loud. We totally love her and find that she is an almost endless source or entertainment.

    • Have I Mentioned I'm Pregnant?

So yeah. Uh. I'm like, 6 months pregnant. And even though I've been on here tons of times since that happened, I somehow failed to mention it in my journal. Go me. I'll try to find a really good pregnant picture for my images and put it up. Although I'm only just now starting to look pregnant instead of fat. But I'm totally thrilled. I'm going to have a little girl. And even though that's totally frightening, it's also really cool. And being pregnant feels so weird. Like when my stomach is moving around and stuff and it's like, "Hey, that's not me. That's a baby." Weird.

    • Just in time for my birthday.

What seems like ages ago now, I ordered Anomalous' book. And when I did, I said that by the time it arrived, I would probably have forgotten, so it would be like getting a gift. Oh, how well I know myself.

You have to understand, I absolutely love getting packages in the mail. Even if it's something stupid like a book I ordered from the library. Seeing something that's not a bill and requires some sort of packaging beyond your basic envelope excites. I'm a housewife, I'm allowed to be excited by lame things.

So, it was a week before my birthday and there's this strange package in the mail. And I was confused. I didn't remember ordering anything. And who was this person in the return address? But I was excited nonetheless and practically ripped that puppy open. And when my husband saw how excited I was when I realized what it was, he just rolled his eyes. "I don't even want to know what it is," he said. Because as much as he loves me, even he can't deny that I'm a total dork. Although eventually I did tell him what it was. And he found it less lame than my usual stuff.

    • My Bike is Broken

I know a broken bike doesn't seem like a big deal. But my roommate was borrowing it and broke it. Then he didn't tell me it was all messed up and when my husband and I decided to go for a bike ride today, we found out. I mean, sure, I'm a little miffed that my roommate broke my bike in the first place. I mean, when you borrow other people's things you should be more careful with them. But I'm more upset that he didn't even tell me. He also lost my super-padded bike seat cover and my chain (for locking it up). I'm surprised he didn't lose the pump that attaches to the side. But one of the gear shifters is completely broken and it won't stay in gear for some reason.

It turned out okay, I guess, because my mom let me borrow hers and she has an extra so she said that if I can take care of the tires and the chain isn't too rusted, I can have it. So hopefully it won't need new intertubes since we're totally strapped for cash right now.

    • Editing Exercise

I spent an hour and a half last night doing an editing exercise that really changed my manuscript for the Mansion. Basically, the exercise is this. You take your story (it's designed to be used for short stories) and put one scene on each piece of paper (scissors make that task easier). Then you lay them out end to end on a long table. After that you look at each scene individually, determine if it's in the right place, determine if it has a purpose. You look for characters that are introduced too late and decide if they need to be mentioned sooner or taken out entirely. You move things around, pull things out and add slips of paper with notes for scenes that need to be added in.

It's an amazing exercise and I was surprised at how much rearranging I did. I knew ahead of time that I was going to be taking some stuff from 1.7 and 1.8 and moving it into a prologue, but beyond that I didn't think I'd be rearranging much. I was way off. There were a lot of sections that required quite a bit of rearranging. And I was amazed at the number of scenes that I need to add. By the time I'm done with the thing, it will barely resemble the original uploaded story. But I think it'll be 10 times better and people loved the original. So I'm happy with that.

From here on out, my plan is to take about 5 pages a day and edit them for flow and to add description (my achilles heel). At this point, it's 65 pages long, so I figure that'll give me a complete edit by the end of May (allowing for tough spots and such). And by the time it's done, it definitely won't be 65 pages anymore. Before my massive rearrangement, it was 51,466 words. After, it's down to 50,118. But by the time I'm done adding scenes and enhancing the descriptions, I'm sure it'll be closer to 80,000 or 100,000.

It's kind of amazing to think about my writing having that many words. i've only finished short stories before so those numbers seem huge to me. But it wasn't all that hard to write them. So I'm trying not to be daunted by the numbers.

    • The Evilness of Editing

      Maidenfine

I finally finished The Mansion. Well, I finished the first draft. I've been uploading it to the Sims2 Exchange a chapter at a time. But now that I've finished the first draft, I have editing to look forward to. I spent an hour today laying out the whole thing on a table and rearranging stuff so it works better as a novel. All that's left is the really fun part. You know, going back through word for word and making sure the descriptions are good and that everything flows right. Especially now that I rearranged so much. And there're extra scenes to be added now to fill in gaps.

      Don't you just love editing?

    • My Inner Demon

I've been working on my novel and sims 2 story , The Mansion, and I've gotten to the last two installments. And I'm still working on it. But it's coming along very slowly. So I've pretty much decided that I have this inner demon that doesn't want to be successful in anything I do. And it's making it really difficult for me to finish this thing even though I'm really into it and having a blast with it and can't wait to have a finished rough draft to start editing for novelization. I'm pretty pissed off at the demon. And I'm absolutely determined to work through this thing and kick his ass. Hopefully.
Anyway, I'm throwing down the gauntlet. I'm going to take this freaking demon on. And I don't think he's a match for me when I'm determined.

So I haven't been on here in a really long time. I don't even really know why it's been so long. I guess I just figured they weren't going to put out any realy Strangerhood videos and I got bored of just hanging around like I was pathetic. So I went off and did some other stuff for a while. Like playing the Sims2 which I finally got a computer good enough to run. And putting out 8 parts of story on the exchange. (http://thesims2.ea.com/mysimpage/uploads.php?user_id=1140914&nstart=1&asset_type=story)
And making a bunch of new friends at the sims 2 writers hangout. (http://similik.proboards54.com/index.cgi)

But it was really nice, finally coming back here and finding 3 new videos. It took care of my sims movie craving pretty nicely.

    • It's been forever since I've been here!!

      Maidenfine

So, at this point I have no idea how long it's been since I was here. I know it was before Ep. 5 of Strangerhood because I found out it was out from the Sims2 site. So, yeah, it's been a while. I'm not even really sure why I haven't been here. Although things have been pretty crazy here for a while. My brother and his crazy, psycho bit*h wife were living with us. And then we had to take them to court to get them out. And in the process of all that, I got so far behind and was having so much stress that I had to drop out of school. That's right, folks, I was in my last semester and had to drop out. I'd been in college for 6 years. 6 years!

So I had to deal with a little bit of a deression caused by not knowing what the hell to do with myself and by the crazy stuff that had been going on. In the meantime, my mom and my brother and I won a government contract in Illinois for mental patient transportation. So we went to Springfield. But my husband didn't want to go and he didn't want me to go so it was totally emotional and more stress. Then, even though we had a $110,000 advance from the state of Illinois and a contract that would be worth $700,000 a year, no banks would give us start-up money. So we tried and tried for about six weeks before we said, we can't do it. So the state is going to do some stuff on their end and maybe in September or October, we'll be able to work something out so that we can do it after all. I don't know. There's a lot of time for things to happen between now and September. The brother that was doing the Illinois thing with us, ended up not being able to pay his rent because of the whole thing, so now he's kicked out of his apartment. He's going to be staying in my grandparent's RV for a while. And after the thing with my other brother and his wife, we've been having trouble getting back on our feet. They doubled our grocery bill but werent' paying us what they should have been. So since December, we've been chronically late iwth our bills and stuff and now I'm looking for a job so that I can add to what my husband is making at his two jobs and take some of the pressure off of him. A couple weeks ago he got sick and it has totally screwed us financially. So I need to do something so that doesn't happen again.

So I think that pretty much catches everybody up. Not that anyone cares. But they can be caught up if they do.

    • The House of Chaos

I withdrew. I talkedto my advisor and he said that having too much disorder at home can be a paper killer and if I didn't think I could do it, withdrawal would be the best option. So I withdrew and whenever inspiration strikes me I'll still work on my paper. Right now I have a bunch of overdue library books to turn in. And out campus library is pretty evil with the fees. I'll get to it eventually. Hopefully I won't have to take out student loans to pay off the fees when I'm done.

On the other front, I won't have to worry about the arguing from my brother and his wife anymore. There was a huge fight that ended with the police at our house and I gave them 30 days notice. Then there was another, shorter, more evil, fight that also ended with teh police at our house and I gave them 3 days notice. We have a court date tomorrow to decide if we get the eviction but in the meantime they've already packed their stuff and have been staying elsewhere. All they have to do is get their stuff and give us the key and it will be all over. I don't even care about the money they owe us (and it's a lot because they stayed here almost 3 months and only payed a grand total of $176). I just want my life to go back to peaceful normality.

We're working on finding a better, more reliable roommate right now. The fact is, we do need the money. The holidays hit us really hard and then my brother and his wife doubled our grocery bill without paying us enough to cover it. So we're pretty strapped right now. I barely paid the rent at the beginning of the month. So I'm looking for a part-time job since I'm not in school right now and we're looking for a roommate. If nothing else, we have plenty of room in our apartment. It's fairly huge.

So pray for us. Because a court date and a new roommate both leave plenty of options for chaos in our lives.

Cool you're into stargate! Speaking of that I've got an ancient language translator (english to 5000 year old cuneiform script) you might want to checkout in my journal. Effing sweet I think...and took forever to put together :)

I'm Southern Baptist. Plus, our church is pretty accepting of different kinds of people. I get asked questions every once in a while but nobody thinks I'm a devil worshipper or anything. Not at my church anyway. I did have a suitemate once who was super-Catholic and she freaked out about me playing DnD. But mostly it's a Catholic thing as far as I can tell.

interesting daichotomy between Religon, and D&D? I thought most denominations frowned upon that sort of Excess? It's been a while since I've been inside a, "Christian," church of the Roman Catholic tradition, but from what I remember, there were some stressful stereotypes, and ideas about these things that wouldn't allow for such niceties. ...of course, when I was Christian [of the Roman Catholic Tradition] I did these things anyway... I did some other things too, but we won't get into that. Overall I trust Gamers more than most other classes of people. For us, we understand the fellowship of the Game, and aren't wiling to let anything break that down. So, Cheers, Good-on-Ya, Lachiam, and G-d Bless!!!
