    • Losing Streak? (We means Detroit)

      MakPhee

What the fuck is wrong with the Detroit Red Wings lately?!

They had 9 games in a row without a loss and all of a sudden, they're on a 3 game losing streak. I hate looking at the website every two days and seeing a report about another loss.

And what the hell is their problem with beating the Chicago Blackhawks? First, we just couldn't beat them. Then they took away our franchise record 10 game winning streak last week. Now, we have lost all four games we have played against them this season. Detroit outshot Chicago 42-17 and still lost 5-3. It just pisses me off. Maybe we're losing so much to them because we sold FIVE FIVE FIVE (as in 5 or five!!!) of our star players to Chicago this year in Williams, Lang, Calder, Bertuzzi, and Schneider.

In the meantime, Ottawa continues to have a stellar season with something like 15 wins and 3 losses or some shit like that and Detroit is slowing down fast with 13 wins 6 losses.

COME ON RED WINGS, PICK UP THE SLACK!!

I'm only halfway through Michael Moore's new movie, SickO, and I love it. It really exploits all of the corrupt natures of the American "Health Care" system and shows how awesome the Canadian and British systems are. I really hope this movie changes the Medicare system because for such a technologically and politically advanced country, America is really behind in the medical aspect of things. This movie is available everywhere in Canada and the States so definitely rent this movie. If you're not into having your country's way of living criticized by one of its own citizens, then rent it for its funniness. Besides its political points, it's just a sarcastically funny movie. Michael Moore is hilariously dry. Love that mullet-sporting fool.

    • 9 in a Row, 1 More to Go.

The Detroit Red Wings beat another one of their many rivals last night in a 4-1 victory at the Columbus Blue Jackets. Even though Columbus has the best penalty-kill line in the league, two of Detroit's four goals were scored on the power play.

This is Detroit's 9th straight win and their only obstacle between them and the coveted 10-in-a-row streak is their franchise-long rival Chicago Blackhawks who Detroit has yet to defeat this season. Hopefully, the sports channels will realize the significance of this game and actually air a Detroit Red Wings game which they have failed to do since October 6th when they lost against the Blackhawks.

This game is like Colts/Patriots for the NHL, to put it into perspective for my American friends. It'll be a good one!

    • War Games

      MakPhee

Before I start, I'm elated to report that the Sens have finally lost their 2nd game of the season, ending their winning streak which stopped at 8 games. The best thing about it is they got beat by the Washington Capitals, the worst team in the league! So, Detroit will now be getting the coverage they SO deserve.

No, this journal is not about a guy who knows nothing about real war trying to write poetry about it or enlighten the soldiers of today with my own philosophical thoughts because that pisses me off.

No, I'm here to talk about actual war games. Video games. I've recently rented Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and I've realized there is not much of a distinction between today's war game titles. Halo first came out with Combat Evolved, then Battlefield 2 was Modern Combat, Ghost Recon was Advanced Warfare and finally Call of Duty with Modern Warfare. Wouldn't Activision have done better to separate themselves from the pack?

For instance, the Brothers in Arms franchise is calling their next game Hell's Highway. It was originally going to be released last March, but just like GTAIV, the creators of the game realized the advancements in technology for both audio and video were so great that they had to postpone their release to tweak a few residuals. GTAIV will be released this coming summer and Hell's Highway sometime in the next 13 1/2 years.

I'll be interested in seeing whether or not Hell's Highway will fare better than these other shooter titles, barring Halo, of course, because who could?

    • Detroit Red Wings and the 10-0 Game

Hockey is my game, the Red Wings are my team. 15 games into their season, Detroit has a record of 12-2-1 while winning their last 8 games. This is barely talked about because of the admittedly incredible 13-1-0 record currently held by the Ottawa Senators who have also won their last 8 games. I'd like to mention that this is a record record (not a typo). The best start that ANY team has EVER accomplished in their ENTIRE franchise history.

Besides this annoying fact, Detroit has lost both games played against the Chicago Blackhawks (0-1-1). Side note: winning ten games in a row is a huge deal in today's NHL! Here's the kicker: this potential 10-0 game will be played against the Blackhawks, winning would not only add some serious morale to an already impressively red-hot Red Wings team, but also trump a rival who has existed throughout the Red Wings' entire franchise history (exceedingly so, during this season).

Wish us luck! (Unless you're a Blackhawks fan. If this is the case, just keep a razor blade handy while you watch this game on ESPN.)

I deleted some pictures because you can only have 12 images at a time in your profile. I wanted to put up some pictures that I took around my town: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. I took these with my 8 pixel Canon digital camera which is very good but you can only have images that are under 512kb and because the quality was so high, each image size was at least 4 MEGAbytes. I wish I could've shown you guys some of those pictures. It really is an amazingly scenic island. I just thought I'd share this with you. 8-|

    • SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!!

      MakPhee

After each team being undefeated for 7 games into the season, the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts are meeting tonight for the first time this season. Someone's going to go 9-0 for the season and the other's going home 8-1. It's on CBS right now, in case you'd like to watch.

Anyway, they're halfway through the second quarter and right up until i started this sentence, the score was 7-6 for the Patriots. Tom Brady is their quarterback and he had a streak of 175 for unintercepted passes which was his old record; one more pass, and he would break that record. On his 176th pass, the record-breaking attempt, the ball was intercepted at the 1-yard line from the endzone. HEARTBREAKING!

Two or three plays after that, Peyton Manning, the Colts' quarterback, threw a pass that started a 73-yard run into the Patriots' endzone and the score grew to 13-7 for the Colts, causing the patriots to fall behind in a game for the first time ever this season.

THERE'S A VERY GOOD CHANCE THAT THIS WILL BE A ONE-POINT GAME. GOD, YES!!!

Ok, maybe not. It's 2:22 left in the 3rd quarter and the Patriots scored fieldgoal to make it 13-10. It's still going to be close though.

4th quarter now. Indianapolis has possession within 15 yards of the Patriots --- now 7 yards of the Patriots endzone. 1st and goal... tackle. 2nd and inches... Manning is in for the touchdown. Kick's good. 20-10 Colts. That is most likely going to be the game. *SIGH*. If only Brady could've made good on that pass which was intercepted 1 yard from the Colts' endzone in the 2nd quarter, this game would've been so much more interesting (especially, since I'm going for the Pats).

TOUCHDOWN! Patriots' touchdown at 7:59 left in the 4th quarter. Patriots are down 20-17 and the Colts have possession.

TOUCHDOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!!! Another Patriots' touchdown at around 3:20 left in the 4th quarter after the Colts failed to get their first down. The kick is good and the score is now 24-20 for the New England Patriots with 3:00 remaining in the 4th quarter. The Colts are at their 24-yard line, 2nd and 10.

GAME OVER!! Ok, not technically but the good ol' Pats have regained possession of the ball with 2:00 remaining in the 4th quarter. it's as good as in the books. FIRST DOWN with 32 yards from the endzone and the Colts have used up their timeouts.

Now, it's official. What a comeback! Game of the mother@#$%ing season!

Also, in another game being played tonight, the record for longest touchdown run in NFL history has been rewritten. ONE HUNDRED NINE YARDS after a 57-yard fieldgoal kick came up short from the opposing team. What a day for football!
