      Okay,

I haven't been here in about 6 or so weeks. I've been busy at Jamason discussion board, busy doing movies, busy recording music groups and mostly busy logging DVDs into my movie data bases. My dvd collection has increased by about 200 titles in the last 5 weeks. It takes about 20 minutes average per movie title to log the disc into all those Excel bases. I'm currently looking at 8 titles that came in today.

I'm currently looking at 26 posters on my watch list that need to be read and responded to. I will, honest I will, but not until this influx of discs get logged in. Then things will be back to normal. One poster, Esbat, has 121 posts alone. The total posts I need to read is 447 posts before I'm caught up. As you can see, it's a daunting task. One I'm not quite ready to conquer yet.

Please, be patient, or I'll soon be a patient!

I haven't posted in ages. i'm trying to help with a small family of discussion board guys aat another site.

Also, I took advantage of the sale at DDDVD.com last week and added 143 new titles to my DVD collection. Since entering each movie title takes an average of 20 minutes each, I am spending a lot of time logging them in. The Data bases are:

      1. All Discs (a 28 cell-per-line Excell data base with lots of info on each film)
      2. Stars (a list of each of the stars, and their films I own, when I own a minimum of 5 of their films. I currently have 618 stars listed. There are 6 cells per line.)
      3. Directors ( a list of each director, and their films I own, when I own a minimum of 3 of their films. I currently have 212 directors listed. There are 5 cells per line.)
      4. AFI's Top 100 Greatest Movies (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 5 cells per line in this list.)
      5. AFI's 100 Most Exciting Films (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 5 cells per line in this list.)
      6. AFI's 100 Most Passionate Movies (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 5 cells per line in this list.)
      7. AFI's 100 Funniest Movies (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 5 cells per line in this list.)
      8. AFI's Top 400 Greatest Movies (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 4 cells per line in this list.)
      9. AFI's 400 Most Exciting Films (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 4 cells per line in this list.)
      10. AFI's 400 Most Passionate Movies (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 4 cells per line in this list.)
      11. AFI's 500 Funniest Movies (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 4 cells per line in this list.)
      12. Bravo's 100 Scariest Moments (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 5 cells per line in this list.)
      13. Bravo's 100 Funniest Movies (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 5 cells per line in this list.)
      14. IMDB's 250 Greatest Films (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 5 cells per line in this list.)
      15. Total Movie's 100 Greatest Films of All Time (If I own a film on the list, it is marked. There are 5 cells per line in this list.)

So, you can see that 143 new titles will keep me a quite busy for a little while.

BTW; I received another $6,700 in residual checks in the last 2 weeks for the G.E. commercial I was in back in February of '05. The money just keeps roollin' in!

The migration point for the old Amazon discussion board has become the Jamazon board. We welcome all the old faces and invite new ones to the board. Unlike this great board, where a face is easily lost among the thousands, at Jamazon, our family is just 7 members strong after 2 days.

we are friendly, knowledgeable, and all avid gamers!

And for those aware of the old board, the environment will feel familiar.

    • Email from Amazon

      MarkJFerreri

      Mark,

First off, thank you for the time you've put into the discussion boards over the years. I'm relatively new to Amazon and don't have the history that many here do, but reading through hours of message board posts, I can clearly see that there's a lot of passion on the discussion board and it appears that you personally are owed much, if not all of the credit for moderating the boards over the years.

Now, it's true that we are removing the video game discussion boards, but I want to personally reassure you that Amazon is fully dedicated to fostering a world class community. I will be making a post to the discussion boards shortly outlining what we're planning on doing (I apologize we haven't responded sooner?still waiting for the 72 hour wait period for my post.), but I wanted to email you personally before hand.

Like the personalities on the d-board, I myself am a huge gamer?a fan of all platforms?from Pong as a young kid to COD2 on the X360 right now?.and, we at Amazon really want to build and maintain a very strong gaming community. While we may be removing the discussion boards, we're moving into some new areas that I think will grow to be really great over time.

For instance, the discussion boards on the product detail pages are pretty cool as they facilitate discussions among a mix of gamers (old and new) on Amazon?I mean, would you ever really expect people to seriously ask what to do with a Brain Age game? It's already happened twice as Amazon customers didn't know they needed a DS to play the game. Crazy?but true.

And, for those more informed gamers like those on the discussion boards (and myself), we're rolling with the blog as a means to drive discussions with insightful news, etc. Now, I've seen you're feedback along with that of other d-boarders, and I totally agree that we've yet to really hit the nail on the head with the blog. We need more posts?with more information?that really inspire and drive discussion. (And, totally agree with one of the d-board members that the picture of Jon looks like it came directly from Glamour Shots?no kidding, I sent him an email proclaiming the same thing the first time I saw the pic.) That being said, I think we can take the blog to the next level and really make it great, and I think the support of the existing d-board members will help us get there.

In addition, we're still tossing around ideas of how we can further the Amazon gaming community?.Xbox live events, etc. And, we're totally open to other ideas.

Bottom line?we're gamers, and our hearts in the right place - we're trying to reinvigorate the Amazon gaming community, not destroy it.

I hope you stay with us. Please feel free to e-mail me anytime.

I'll have a post on the board tomorrow night when my 72 hours have passed and will stay on the board with you and the other posters until it goes away?.as I expect a lot of feedback. :-)

      Cheers,

    • Amazon & the 72HM195 loss 8^(

      MarkJFerreri

      All

It's interesting to me that from the end of February until the 23rd of May, we had about 25 individuals who visited the Amazon, com discussion board.

And then, between 3:30AM on the 24th of May through this current time, we've had 29 visitors. Of coarse it was because of the closer announcement, but still, isn't it odd?

There are not that many new posts visible, but it's probably because there's currently a 3 day waiting period once a person registers before they can post. It's too bad. The board may close before they even get a chance to post.

I've been very silent about my Toshiba 72HM195 HDTV. When it arrived in early April, it had a broken mirror. Only half the picture was visible. After much hassle and inspections, it was finally picked up on April 18th, and hauled back to where ever. Then came the waiting period for a new set. 2 weeks ago, the store convinced me to take my money back (because they couldn't get a replacement set). I reluctantly agreed, and found the same unit at another on-line New York store for a similar price. Well'p, after 5 days of waiting for the money to return to my account, I called the original store. There was no answer, and there was no online site anymore! They went bankrupt!!! And with $3,600.00 of my money gone!!!. Okay, Okay, I was kidding. Actually, the reason that they didn't put the money back into the account is because they finally got their shipment from Toshiba. This was 11 days ago. They said they'd have the TV shipped last Wednesday. It was in San Diego yesterday @ 1PM and it's supposed to arrive on my driveway today between 12PM and 4PM. I'm relieved, excited, and leery. I won't sign for it until I plug it into the power outlet next to the driveway and insure that it works perfectly!

      So anyway, that's what's happnin'

Well'p Amazon is on it's deathbed.

For any of you who migrated here from the Amazon gaming board, we were officially notified that the board will close at an unspecified time. I have posted my contact info there and invite you to do the same (as much as you feel comfortable doing, anyway). You'll find my email address, home address, and numbers to both my home and cell phone there.

Now I'll be here more, and will visit Vortex once in a while too. Maybe I'll even out there where CMZ was hangin' out, if it's still around!

This has hot been covered by athread yet! I'm 53 and a moderator of another board. Please don't lock this.

There's an E3 thread that's mainly about interest in games showing. There's a thread on gaming sites that seems to cover different folks personal (pet) favorite game sites.

I went to E3 every year except the 2 in Atlanta. But this year, I was denied! I'm asking you to post the best gaming sites to keep us all informed on the goings-about of the show. I want to believe that by visiting these best-thereof sites, I will only be missing out on the hands-on gaming, and the $50-per day gas prices.

This year, it seems that there will be much better internet coverage (at least from all the hoop-law i've seen) then ever before.

What are the best coverage sites (list a URL if possible)

Where are the sights for purchasing DVDs of the show at?

Are there other TV spots besides G4 that will cover the show?

      MarkJFerreri

It's the season I guess for losing our internet connections. It happened to me Thursday. The cable guy didn't get here until 7:30 this morning. I need to catch up on returning posts to many of my friends. I'm glad I watch all of those who are my friends, or I wouldn't know where to start!

'Supposedly, my replacement HDTV has already shipped, but when I called the store, they said that they wouldn't have my shipment voucher number until tomorrow. So I'll call back.

I've just about got the TASCAM DM3200 completely reconfigured. I also installed the 2 pro keyboards in the studio (just an 88-key Trinity Pro 3, and a Yamaha PR7600). I'm taking a little 16x2 ch. Beringer mixer in for repair today (we lost the Rt. ch. on the main outs). The $100 is just part of the expense. The repair shop is 45 miles away and gas (regular) is currently about $3.40 per gallon! There's a cute little 'M' board (controller & mixer) we are looking to get soon. It has 8 XLRs, 4 outs, ADAT, and firewire, and is compatible with our Pro-tools program (the DM3200 isn't!). It's also compatible with our Sonar, Cubase, Macs and PCs. So I guess our next $1,200 in profits will go there.

My mom has stomach cramps (when the stands up), but she's not doing too bad. She has one more chemo treatment in a week-and-a-half. Then it's just 6 weeks of DAILY(!) radiology. I wonder if radiology treatments have side affects like this.

I'm adjusting to the fact that attending the E3 will not be a part of my life this year, and I'm rounding up a list of sights that will best cover the show. It's amazing that there's such an increase in media coverage (or at least, so it appears) over last year. Anybody have a favorite site on their list for E3 coverage (a free site)? Please list it here or in the thread of great E3 coverage sites.

I'll write more later. After 4 days of being down, there's a lot to catch up on!

Hmm, I never really understood why people want such a big music selection in their iPod. You may have over 10,000 songs but, are you really going to listen to all of them in one day? or is it just a feeling of joy to know that you have so many songs in your iPod? And with the iPod, what will happen to free broadcast of radio? Hmm............
