    • My Nearly Impossible Project: Need Help

      Max_Jackson

Well, we've done it. We've put forth however much we needed to put down and purchased a domain name and a dotcom for our production company. Its not much as of right now, but as soon as I find a website designer, or have enough time to sit down and work on it myself, we'll get Hangover Buffet back to the masses. But until then, browse quickly through Fourth Wall Films, our company.

Its not much now, but if you happen to know anyone who knows anything about webdesign, send them my screenname or username or my email address so we can talk shop. Its so cool having a dotcom, now all we need is something to go on that dotcom. It is mine and Joe's production company which will be future home to the Buffet along with our machinima, which is still in the writing phase...

I'm helping the Grandparents the next few days, so try not to post too many journals. And mad props to Alec for getting my star back. Thanks buddy. Now I know that I only have 13 watchers as opposed to the 25 I had before I switched accounts. Come back watchers!

Keep me informed on the web design thing guys and gals, and feel free to make a journal about it as well. Let some others help too.

I don't know if many of you read the titles to the journals that are posted, but I've been really into the whole 'my' journal thing, and I guess mainly I take it from my attraction to Scrubs and how all of their episodes start with "my," and partly because if I was to choose between that and the "Smallville - one worded title" conspiracy... we all know I'm not a one worded person. Its just not gonna happen. I've been trying to take it further though, with the secondary title, but RT just doesn't want to give me full access over my titles and cuts it off about 40 letters into it. Just when the brain starts thinking of something really cool, its hindered by rules and regulations.

So, come about two hours or so I'll be heading down to Joe's place in Raleigh. We actually coordinated a weekend where I'm not headed down to the beach or he's not distracted by a race where we can actually sit down and plan this production company out. Yes, we like to start off big , no matter what that means. We'll also be finalizing a dotcom for everything this evening, so we can get back into recording the Hangover Buffet. I wanted to keep recording, then just pound you guys with everything we'd done all at once once we got everything situated, but Joe thought it better to not really record anything until we get somewhere to put it. I think he was just thinking of his hard-drive and not of the fans, so everyone go to Joe's page and 'boo' this man. Boo this man, boo him!!

So I guess I should finish packing my Xbox up and my clothes for the weekend because after I leave Joe's I'm actually heading down to Greenville to visit the rest of the crew thats still stuck at ECU. These kids know how to do it right I tell you, school semester is over and they signed up for summer school just for the chance to drink their summers away too. Man, I miss the good old days of college. Now I said college, not class. Plus, this will give me a chance to visit with Lindsay and see how well our relationship can survive without booze at the center of it. I'm hoping it turns out well, but I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket on this one. Catie and I had the same thing going and she decided to go to Africa for the summer instead of spending time with me. Odd how that works out.

Here's hoping for the best, and don't worry, you'll get the full story when I get back. Or maybe if I get to use Lindsay's computer you'll get the stroy earlier. Heck, I may even convince her to sign in and write an entry for me if we're lucky. We'll see ow that turns out.

    • My Rekindled Youth: Completed Screenshot

      Max_Jackson

So yet another computer development was given to me just the other week by my good friend JJMcFly. A program that allows me to play my most favorite game ever on the current PC I have. Since its basically a DOS based game, and I know very little about the functionality of computers, I think its best to say that the game itself runs off of magic. Yes, I said it, magic... there's no other option.

That being said, I give you screenshots of the greatest game ever... along with the accompanying dialogue! Huzaah!
Sam - a canine shamus... Max - a hyperkinetic rabbity thing... the Freelance Police.

      SamMaxOne.jpg
From the intro... there are too many quotable quotes from the opening... hilarity is soon to ensue...

      SamMaxTwo.jpg

      SamMaxThree.jpg
Sam: "I have a question and although you look extremely unequipped brain wise, we've come to you for help"
      Tattooed Guy: "Huh?"

      SamMaxFour.jpg

That's all for now. I must focus all the left energy on playing the game and all its hot shited glory. If that makes any sense.

    • My Tech Genuises: A Little Help Please

      Max_Jackson

So JJMcFly was helping me with my IP addresses and stuff and junk trying to turn my computer into my own personal webpage... still not sure what the official name for that is, but we both were at a loss when my computer stopped doing what he thought it was supposed to be doing and just started pissing me off by not following rules. At least I can still type in a simple internet journal entry.

Let's see if it let's me post it though. And yeah, this is the part where you guys come in, or you hype this up to people that know even more tech stuff than I do because this is the quickest way to get the Hangover Buffet back to link form and your internet radio revolution to the masses. And seeing as how I'm not entirely sure what information you guys need to know to help help me out witht his sort of situation, we'll just bounce it through step by step. We downloaded the Abyss software and the No IP software to get us started, and from there I got to my DOS screen to find my IP address, but when I loaded files into my internal webpage nothing showed up. "The document contains no data." was the message I received. Not sure how to fix that situation, but maybe you do...

So the problem we're seeing is that when I put files on the temporary page they don't show up... or maybe thats not the entire problem. Maybe I should have had JJ explain it to me in a better manner before I posted a journal about it. If there's anything I can explain in more detail, just ask me and I'll get that info to you. Also, anyone with a good FREE spyware deleter program?

So I'm headed out of town for the weekend to the beach for Mother's Day. Being broke I wasn't even able to get my mother anything on her day, so I'm hoping there's food in the house I can cook so I can maybe make her breakfast. Yes, it could be considered a gift...

And no, I'm not trying to poison her... just some my sonly love and stuff and junk. I've got my sketchbook with me and my portable DVD player, so I won't be completely shut off from the world, but I'm going to try my best to be. JJ, my brother fucked with my internet connection last night, so I'm not sure if I got all of DOTT from you, but I don't think that I did. We'll have to try that again when I get back.

See you when I return on Sunday. Have a great weekend guys and gals.

    • My Day Well Spent: With A Side of Lazy

      Max_Jackson

So I didn't get a callback from the art gallery yet, so I don't know if I should be worried or not. Come to think of it, I'm not entirely sure if he sadi they would get around to the second interviews until the end of the week, so I still might be looking for a call from them tomorrow. Here's hoping right. My Pops turned me on to a job posting at his place of business, a simple but money paying receptionist position. We'd be in different divisions, so they wouldn't really have a problem hiring me. Plus carpooling to work with Pops would save us money on fueling, and I'd have a lunch buddy as well. That's a longer opening paragraph than I'd planned on.

I got sidetracked this morning and crossed paths once again over to Luke McKay's profile and started looking at his old journals for his "today's doodles." I came across an entry where he highlighted another RvB artist, Major Jack S and his drawings of the RvB characters. I started thinking about it and decided that I hadn't drawn anything decent for myself or for anybody else in a long time, so I started my own interpretations of the Blood Gulch clan. I'll post them when I finish them, which might not be until Friday... seeing as how I'm somewhat slow on scanning drawings and coloring them in. If they turn out decent, I'll start drawing my friends on here.

Here's hoping right... I mean what else have I got to do while I'm waiting to hear back from job offers. Clean?!? Fuck that!

But, I definitely got sidetracked from my tangent after my inspiration this morning and ended up watching this somewhat insane movie on the Sundance channel this afternoon. It was about a family who couldn't have kids, so the father carved a tree to look like a baby. Then the baby tree came to life and had an gigantic appetite, so it ended up eating most of the apartment building residents in old Germany. The entire movie was in subtitles and parts of it were done with Claymation... and the writer must have been smoking something fierce because all of the characters in this movie were fucked beyond reason. The ending of the film was sub-par, but I'd say overall it was a decent story adapted from a German fairytale I think. Might not have been German, might have been Scandinavian.

Either way, if you catch it, its alright. Don't rush out to rent it though. It was called "Little Otik" for those curious.

    • My Forced Interview: In The Key of G

      Max_Jackson

I told you guys about the proposed interview that I was to have this morning, so let me go ahead and get that out of the way. The whole way there I thought to myself "this has got to be a front for a porn agency." The title of the ad was "Surf's Up Dudes," it asked me if I like casual dress, loud music, and working with the opposite sex, and its a new art agency. Everything about this job screamed UNDERCOVER PORN OPERATION! Much to my sarcastic surprise, the receptionist... total hottie with a skin tight t-shirt on. Interviewer guy... total laid back semi-prep guy, complete with spiked haircut. The waiting area... ping pong table, foosball table, PS2 with games.

How can this not be a dream job for someone like me? This screams something's up, but I'm too interested in the proposed $350 a week for training. Then it bumps to $450 a week when I start training people, then $600 a week when I become a manager... all in a span of 9 weeks. How is this possible and/or legal if its not a porn racket?!? I'm going to be so let down when I don't get this job.

They're supposed to call me this evening if they want to bring me back in for a follow-up interview, which or course is to weed out all the unattractive people or the people with short stamina right? Was I lying or what... everything about this job has the sub reference of being erotic in nature. I promise to not make you guys watch the videos I'm in... that might be hard for some of you to watch.

Of course, when I came home and told my mother about everything, she asked me 10,000 questions about the interview which of course I didn't know the answer to... What kind of benefits are there? Why didn't you shave before you went? Is it a porn studio? You didn't wear that shirt did you? Why is my voice so annoying? Things I had no idea how to answer because I had forgotten to ask.

So is the life of a rising porn star. Now let's just hope they call me back, or its "bye-bye self esteem." I don't want to be ugly.

    • My Delay Of Game: False Start

      Max_Jackson

When I told myself that I was unmotivated to write early, it wasn't so much that I had nothing to write about, it was more the fact that I had been sitting in this same computer chair for most of the afternoon being frustrated about the compression of my over-sized videos and how I did all this work to get this file ready to send to my grandmother for Mother's Day and now I can't get it to her because I don't have the right equipment. The CDs I have are too small for filing it as a program, the system I have doesn't have a place to burn DVDs for the DVD-Rs I have, and the video itself is too large for email transport or internet upload.

Basically up shit creek until I get some cash to get a DVD burner, internal or external, for my computer. Sorry Grandmama!

On Saturday a thought occured to me. Just one... but a decently impacting one. Around 2 PM, my mother and I attended a gathering for a high school friend of mine and his future wife, also a friend of mine. I met this fella through his brother while we were in chorus and just became better friends with him than his hermano. And of course from that we had to talk about other people we had been in contact with over the years and how everyone else was doing. The part that got me the most was that of the four of us: Todd ( above mentioned ), Aaron ( the guy from before, who I helped move), Jeff ( new character ) and myself, guess who's nto getting married this summer. Well, I'm pretty sure we can narrow that one down really easily. I'll give you four guesses... and the first three don't count.

Not that I'm sitting here complaining mind you. I'm not here trying to say that my life is screwed up and I can't even find a decent girlfriend that will actually want to spend time with me (which is a side story unto itself because Catie wouldn't even go out with me on my birthday when we went out to eat in Chapel Hill because she was having dinner with her roommate she hadn't seen in two days), but moreover the fact that its all happening at once kinda builds on a guy just a little bit. Not to mention, his mother gets into it. [/rant]

Got to go to a Durham Bulls baseball game that evening. They played horribly and I was less than impressed. I had nachos with cheese and jalepenos on them and then felt sick later that evening. It was not a fun experience for anyone by any means.

Sunday we spent most of the morning at church and then came home and did yardwork for a good while. My father is obsessed with his grass mowing. I decided I would spend most of the day trying to upload the videos I made, but we all know how well that worked.

Today I had lunch with Todd, worked a bit with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere and wrote a little more of the script for the machinima. I called everyone I needed to call to hassle them about job offers and such, and it seems I've now got three helpers within Duke trying to get me hired under this guy. If they tell him enough good things I might even be able to pay my car payment this month. I'm also going to interview with an art company out of Cary, NC tomorrow because they had an ad that caught my eye. "Do you like casual dress, loud music, and working with the opposite sex?" Somehow that screams porn industry to me, but I guess I'll see when I go in tomorrow for the interview. Hey, a guy can dream for the big leagues can't he? Or he can become someone's dream...

Other than that, same old shit going on around here. If some of you with XBL accounts wouldn't mind helping next weekend. Not this one coming up, but the one after that... Joe, Dan and I are going to be filming the Teaser for our machinima on Saturday. I'll keep you guys informed on that coming up though, since its not until next weekend anyways. Time for schedule clearing and such.
