I feel like I'm starting to finalise the tracklist for my new synthpopier EP.
The first demo I want to share is the back half of a song called 'Take Me Home'.
This is my attempt at going wild with synth layers. My songs often start with me wanting to do 'my version of X', so you might be able to tell that this is very FM84 etc.
The second demo is a slower-paced song called 'Night Dive'.
I also decided quite a while ago that Night Dive will be the name of the new EP.
I really like it. It's a little bit tongue in cheek, as 'Night Drive' and similar names are a bit of a trope in retrosynth/synthwave culture, but it also adds that underwateryness that I like to try and convey with my music.
The problem is I keep starting new tracks and thinking 'yeah, this totally fits the vibe of the new EP' . Like the one above, I started it the other week and after two sessions working on it thought, 'yeah it fits, why don't I also give it the EP title name?'
Like, I've been absolutely enamoured with Snail's House and other future bass artists recently, so I'm constantly finding new influences that I try and translate into my new music.
I'm going to have to draw the line somewhere, I guess.
My first EP was an incredible feat for me. I actually made something and put it out, start to finish, but everything I've worked on since has just completely blown it out of the water, both from a production standpoint and a songwriting one.
