I had a late dinner at work today and headed over to Tim Hortons for a chicken salad sandwich combo. As the middle-aged employee was taking my order she was sort of giving me attitude asking me how I wanted my order. Normally in a situation like this I would just take it and leave the situation alone, but I decided to just say something.

I asked, "Busy night? How's everything going?"

She perked up with a smile and said, "Well, you know it sometimes gets busy here, but the night shifts are normally slow."

"Yeah I know the feeling, nigh shift will do that to you" I said in reply.

"It's okay, but work is work, right. Here's your coffee."

And with that I feel that somehow helped her get through the nigh shift.... Or I could be wrong and just made her day worse. Either way, the conversation added a lighter mood to what could have been a very pissy one.

Well, it's been more than four days since the Toronto Marathon and I have to say I'm recovering quite well. Aside from some delayed onset muscle soreness, I'm happy to report no injury of any sort. I had a lot to say about the experience, but to really sum it up, the last 21.1K (13.1 miles) were the hardest. It was uncharted territory in my running experience for sure.

      cover_zps8c2e757c.jpg

So what's next? I dunno, but I'm not done running that's for sure smiley0.gif Now that I have a Personal Best time of 5:43:31 (a really long one) I can look forward to improving for the next.

If you're interested to see stats on the run, I have uploaded my GPS watch information on the Marathon here: connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/616397262/0?l... The GPS got a little drunk around the harbourfront, lol.

I had an interview for a major television station downtown this morning and not even 30 mins after the interview I got an offer email from them. Woo! It's funny, because as kid I always walked past the tv building on queen street and always wondered what it would be like to work there. I guess I'll know next week. smiley0.gif

I'm still freelancing at the other network and work is always fun. Actually this month we're in training, crew and freelancers, as we migrate to HD at the end of the month. Can you believe we're the only major television studio in Toronto that hasn't gone HD yet? Yeah, it's going to be interesting. From what I heard from our American counterparts, production and sales have been impacted greatly since their move to HD. I'm positive we're going to experience the same thing, but because we have the monopoly market in Canada we should not worry too much... Or maybe we should. Either way it's going to keep everyone up on their toes these next couple of months. smiley0.gif

Man, it's good to be back working in production again. Why I left before, I'll never know why. This is what I do!

So the countdown is 54 days till Dday for the marathon. I'm now at the point where I can run 10K-15K lengths with no problems. My goal for the next four weeks will be to run a combined 40K or more a week.

While I'm in Australia on vacation and training, I'll be running the Twilight Bay Half Marathon Sept 20 in Brisbane.

I recently bought a Garmin Forerunner 15 GPS watch to keep track of my distance, pace and time for all my runs. It's probably the best thing I bought for my training. It's a shame I bought it so late in my routine. I could have really used it as an effective tool to help me gauge where I need help the most. But, you know, better late then never.

      Hello, fellow RvBCA member!

It's June already (holy crap!), so we are gearing up for another Comic-con weekend meetup.

We are planning something along the lines of a bonfire, so EVERYONE can come, regardless of whether or not you were lucky enough to snag a Con badge before the website crashed for the 30th time. smiley0.gif

If you are interested in attending a RvB meetup in San Diego and meeting your lovely rooster teeth friends, come to the RvBCA group and check out the latest news!

Thanks and hopefully we'll see you in July!

hey Joe, how's everything? I was looking at Porter Airlines opposed to taking a train (9 1/2 hour train compared to 1 1/2 hour flight) for flights and it obviously seems like the better option, but I just have never heard of Porter before and neither have my parents. I would love to fly to Toronto instead of a train, but I just wondering how reliable and what they were like.

      I WISH
My granparents live over there, but I need more monies.

By the way- what goes into starting something like RVBTO?
I- well, after I come back from Israel- but I want to do something like that in California. Im going here for college after my year in Israel.

And I was curious. I know there are tons of fans here, and enough to do this and not have anyone fly in like for RVBTO (although that would still be awesome. To get to the point where people ARE flying in, I mean)

So what goes into it besides money? I mean- how the hell would I even start?

Hey Joe, as one of the founders of RvBTO I got a question for ya.

Aww, smiley2.gif oh well. I did the work for you so you don't have to.

That was your response to Aoina's "I'm leaving" journal a while back. The work you did for her was to remove yourself from her friends list. That got me curious...

Did you do it to clear up room for other more active members, or are you also angry at her(like Lukie was) for thinking that RvBTO is synonymous with alcohol. I’m leaning towards the latter of the two, given what I’ve seen and heard from others.

Aoina is gone, this conversation is for me. I've noticed that many people did not take kindly to Aoina's outlook of RvBTO. Barb and I had a talk and she explained yall's thoughts on the subject. While I understand yall’s outlook, I disagree with a good majority of what I’ve seen happen over the last few years.

I think that a little misunderstanding blew up into something ugly due to a breakdown in simple communication, and that's too bad for everyone.

Just so there are not any of those misscommunications that I find so bothersome, my thoughts of RvBTO are as follows:

It's an awesome and kick ass place for folks to get together and meet. It is centered around a bar and drinking, and if you don't drink or like to be around internet people that are drinking then you probably won't have a good time at the bar (common sense). If that is the case, the Sunday Park day and good-bye dinner that night would be the perfect thing for a non drinker to attend.

That assessment is from how I was treated for not drinking. I went to RvBTO to meet you all, my friends. Ryan’s place was the best, and Sunday was a blast! What I didn’t like was the bar, and how ….rude everyone is when they realize you aren’t drinking. It wasn’t you guys that gave me the cold shoulder (few exceptions), but it’s true. The mob is there to get drunk, period. You don’t go a bar and not drink, not a good idea. Found it out the hard way, twice. LOL

You guys put a lot of time and effort and love into RvBTO, and it shows. It’s a lot of work. Its main event is the Ram in the Rye bar. Everyone knows this, it’s what they look forward to. For people to say that it's not about drinking is just....foolish. LOL, Of course it is! That is the appeal, the buzz and excitement in the RvBTO group. It can’t be sold as a place for 18 year olds to come and get drunk and then be described as a social event NOT centered around drinking. Just look at your slogan shirt in the latest group post, then you tell me if Lukie was truthful in saying “It's not about drinking, really. Drinking just helps a lot of people open up, and nobody is stink ass drunk.” When I hear her say things like that it’s just..…disappointing. You got pick one and stick with it.

RvBTO is an amazing event, and you guys should be proud of it. Very Serious. Takes a hell of a lot of work to pull off an international gathering of this magnitude. My only advice is thus: Be honest about what it really is. (Not what you want it to be seen as or what your original idea was, but what everyone else really comes up there for now a days.)

Aoina didn’t want to come to RvBTO because she’s broke, period. That was the only reason she never came, she can’t afford it. She wanted too, and was saving up. The drinking and bars stuff wasn’t even and issue until all the conflicting stories started to be thrown around. I watched the conversations closely. Nothing can galvanize a person’s resolve like realizing a deception. If people would’ve just come clean and not tried to deny it, I really do think she would’ve come up and did the Sunday park day, and dinner that night. She just would’ve avoided the parts she didn’t want to be a part of (the bar) and everyone could’ve been happy. She was a huge part of this site and it would’ve been awesome to have her up there.

To avoid that sort of unpleasantness in the future, don’t conceal what it really is and why people come from all over the globe for it. What happened with Aoina should not have happened. I kept hoping it would get better, but it only got worse, to the point of harassing messages. After dealing with all that, Lukie's immature journal was all it took.

      ...this never should've happened.

I like you all. I'm trying to help.

Well, right about now, I was originally planning to be announcing that tickets for RvB:TX were on sale. Unfortunately, that's not going to be the case. You might have heard that the RT staff has their own event planed for late May. We, the organizers of RvB:TX, don't feel it will be possible to compete with a larger and better organized event, so we're officially canceling our event.

But all is not lost! We're keeping the group page for two reasons:

      1) RvB:TX will now be a hub for all RT fans in and around Texas. We'll keep people up to date on RT related events in and around Texas, from small meet ups to the RoosterTexas event the staff is planning. If you have not already done so, please watch the group to stay up to date on the news.

      2) We're planning a smaller get together in Austin this winter. It won't be as big as our original plans, but it'll still be a chance for fans to get together and have fun.

For more details, please see the journal [link=http://roosterteeth.com/groups/news/entry.php?id=46218]here.

Friendly Neighborhood RvB:TX Admin here! Just a few updates on the group today:
      1) We officially have 200 members! Sweet! You Guys Rock!

      2) We'd really appreciate it if everyone watches the group and checks the forum every few weeks or so. We post polls and messages on the group and we need YOUR input to make sure that this RvB:TX will be the best yet. If you already watch the group, thanks a ton! If not, go here and click the watch button. There are also polls concerning likelihood of attendance and optimum ticket price in the group forum.

      3) The event is being tentatively scheduled for next March. Hope to see you there!

      4) We could really use the help of a Web Designer. if you or someone you know could help us get even a bare bones site running, it would be greatly appreciated. However, please note that this will be an act of volunteerism on your part. We'd love to pay you, but we just don't have the money. But isn't being able to say that you designed a site in order to celebrate the greatest Machinima series ever reward enough? If you are still interested, please contact myself, or one of the other group admins.

      5) Keep active in the group. The planning staff is constantly looking for cool ideas for events, and they are the best spot to get yours out there.

That's all folks! Keep your eyes glued to the screen for further updates.
