I finally finished my training on this switchboard. I just have the basics under my belt and still learning the ins and outs as I work on this during live shows. This was the last thing on my plate the last time I was working with this production company. I was nervous at first thinking I wouldn't be able to grasp the switchboard, but had a really good teacher who went to school for TV production. So the next time you watch our live broadcasts, I might be piloting them using this switcher. smiley1.gif

Before training I wanted to see what other practical uses of the switcher. I stumbled upon this video of a director, AD and TD working together at a Jay-Z concert. Looks like fun!

    • Sponsorship

Your sponsorship is set to expire on 12/06/13

This coming expiry date, I won't be renewing my sponsorship. The whole sponsorship program isn't what is used to be. I swear, I'm not leaving again. I just want to get something out there.

The sponsorship program used to mean something different when it was introduced almost 9 years ago in 2004 when the community site we know and love evolved into what it is today. From what I understood it meant supporting a small and sect of web production that produced content on a shoestring budget. I also understood that the money would be used to support the infrastructure that we know as our digital home. It was a reasonable amount to fork over every six months to ensure this place never died in the foreseeable future. Fast forward nine years and we're still here and bigger. There were profile perks associated with sponsoring which are still honoured today (stats, likes, emoticons, early release content, etc.) The way recent RT content has been produced, the sponsorship program seems a little unnecessary.

With ever single RT produced content (podcast to video) laced with product plugs from companies, it's hard to see how community sponsorship's are relevant any more. The profile perks are great, but it seems more like premium add-on with no real value anymore (almost like premium Linkedin accounts). Don't get me wrong, the sponsorship program is a definite money maker and is put to good use over at RT. I guess what I'm getting at is that that feeling of pride being a sponsorship is lost.

From the very start, I personally wanted RT to get where they are today and I am genuinely happy for their success and all they have accomplished. It just feels like the community portion is a smaller part their business strategy. Barbara's recent journal post is promising and exactly the message we needed to hear from an internal source. So, I guess we'll see what happens next.

In the three years I was working as a manager in a business office, never had I so much hate for anything like the business sock. Why are these things made of material equivalent to coarse sandpaper? Even if you do find a comfortable pair of business socks they're a sham, because they're essentially white socks dyed black to give you the illusion they work well with khakis and dress shoes.

      white-socks_zps41c624f9.jpg
Now that I have the business socks put behind me and work in an environment that doesn't care about business attire, I have re-embraced the white sock. Never leave my feet again! Seriously, if socks are an indication of job related roles, I would rather stick with white sock work.

Not complaining, but if the latest RT Short is an indication of future shorts for Season 4 count me out. I know the Scion was used as a prop, but it felt like the subject of the whole thing or at least the lead up subject. I humed and hawed about the Dr. Pepper plug for the Joel and Matt sketch, but it wasn't as distracting.

Don't mind me. I'm just an older member just having my opinion fall on deaf ears.

I'm not gonna say who... or how and when.

      Yup! I wasn't happy.
      image_zps9408c606.jpg

      Yep! I wanted rage.
      image_zps2e6a53e4.jpg
Quotes ranged from $700 - $900. I wasn't too happy about that either.

I decided to fix it to the best of my abilities today like filling the scratches with primer
      image_zps8f8e6243.jpg

Adding two coats of spray paint
      image_zps2f102984.jpg

Then finishing off with an acrylic enamel finish
      image_zps0a785f46.jpg

The car still has matte finish even with the enamel coating I sprayed on it. I'm not too sure how to do it, but its the best I could do in 6 hours. No visible scratches is all I wanted. A part of me just wants to paint the whole car another colour or maybe make it into a chalkboard car! That would be cool!

Sulley's heart stopped this morning at around 10am EST. The Veterinarian tried her best to help the little one, but he was in bad shape. I'm not sure what more to say as this news did not come as a surprise. However, I was truly grasping onto a happy ending with this whole ordeal.

      kitteh_zps2f11f752.jpg

When I first saw the kittens, I was almost afraid of them. They looked all battered and out of shape, yet somehow I felt that they needed help even if they were said to have no hope in the world to survive. Over time caring for them, I grew accustomed to them and found joy in discovering who they were, even if they lived such a short life.

      Skully

      image_zpsb7ae6056.jpg

Skully was the first to go. She was the worst of the two with one ruptured and blind eye, yet she was the most active one of the three when we first took care of them. She ate more than her share of the food and she showed Katie and proved that she really wanted to live. I will never forget the look Katie gave me when she saw Skully waddle with a visible full stomach. This is when I knew we were going to start saying goodbye.
      Tux

      tux_eyes_zps83b71432.jpg

Tux, where do I begin with him? He was constantly being sat on by Sulley and seemed to enjoy or accept the fact he was being used as a pillow. He did at least learn, in his short life, to defend himself at one time when Sulley was being a dick and pulling on his ear. During floor time, however, he would meow and meow until either one of us would pick him up and bring him back to the feeding and pooping area. His eyes were really bright from the start, but then blindness took over almost immediately after Skully passed.
      Sulley

      sulley1_zpse57bee89.jpg

And what would seem like a domino effect seemed to happen almost instantaneously with Sulley and his sudden decline in health. After Tux was put down and Katie brought back the one and only kitten, I immediately noticed a changed in Sulley. When I had heard he was given medication, I brushed it off and hoped for the best overnight. I've seen cats under drugs and he did look like he was given a helping. The next morning, he wouldn't eat, but sleep all day and meow when he was uncomfortable from sleeping in the same position for hours. Sulley suffered the most and I wish we could have done something sooner than wait as long as we had before he passed. Sorry little buddy.

What's done is done. Their suffering is gone. Goodbye little ones. Au revoir. smiley12.gif

      What is dis?

Sulley is back at the vet and hooked to an IV. Two days ago after Tux was gone, Sulley wasn't acting like the same dominant, hungry, fighting cat. Katie and I have made more effort to let him out of his box and be around us to coddle. At times he's been like a limp spaghetti and at other times he's been like a wind-up toy only to walk a few feet before collapsing to sleep. After taking him back to the vet Katie informed me that it could be either two things:

      1) The anti-biotics the vet gave on his last visit is giving a negative reaction or the mixture was slightly too much

      OR

      2) Sulley is suffering from the sudden loss of his siblings.

If its the latter, I have to say that before the last 48 hours I have never witnessed a cat on a hunger strike and no will to live. If its a reaction from the injection, it would explain a lot from what I've seen. Hopefully in the next 24 hours we'll receive news of his recovery.

We lost another one. I really thought Tux was going to be the survivor when we first took him into our care, but he got worse. His one good eye went cloudy and the other one is just as useless. He walked in tight circles with his tail between his legs and bumped into walls if he felt adventurous. To make it worse, Tux clearly showed signs of digestive complications. He wasn't going to the bathroom right. Unlike Sulley and his regular bowel movements, Tux was like a leaky faucet. Unfortunately, just like his sister, the vet had to put him down. And so as it is, there is only one.
