Thank you for even caring enough to read it, J smiley0.gif I definitely appreciate the feedback. I'm gonna switch some stuff up and leave some stuff, and see where it goes. And I'm also going to put that book on my amazon.com wishlist for when I have some cash.

      1) Yeah, I guess I should have centered that up. I could have easily when I was cropping (the original was pretty wide because of where I had to shoot from) but for some reason I decided it looked better slightly off-center.

      2) I was standing in a shallow area underneath an overhang here. I unfortunately would not have been able to move forward much because it goes from shallow with a bunch of small stones to much deeper with very uneven terrain. Plus, I don't know if you can tell from there, but it was actually raining fairly hard, which is why I had to retreat to the overhang in the first place. Had to ferry my camera and tripod across the pool, which was slightly nerve-wracking. Not sure if moving up would have taken those vines out of the frame though, at least without changing up the frame entirely.

      3) Yeah, the next thing I should learn to do is luminance masking. Definitely suffered from having to balance blown-out skies while being able to bring out the tones of the rest of the frame with a lot of the photos I took. I'll definitely check out that link and try it out the next time I'm editing photos.

      4) I knew you were going to hate this, haha. Yeah, the focus sucks and the background sucks and all of that stuff, but I tried to turn it into something at least tolerable to look at for most people. I was using my 18-135mm the whole time, and it just doesn't have the capacity for macro shooting like that unfortunately. When I feel I can justify picking up another good lens, it'll probably be a prime for macros.

      5) Agreed on the framing. Kept and featured it mostly because of the tones and because the view was just really nice. But yeah, left 1/3 of the frame is ass. I believe I took photos from a bit higher, but the lighting wasn't nearly as good/the view was obstructed slightly. I was hoping to get to the very top, but I was there in flip-flops, and near the top it got very steep (would have had to physically climb up), so that wasn't happening.

As always, your critiques and advice are very much appreciated, and I'm glad you think I'm improving at least. I'm really loving the new camera, so that's offering that much more incentive to shoot...provided I have the time.

I actually did a paid shoot the other day. I didn't think the photos were worth $$$ really but I'm so busy that I didn't have the time to just do it for free. It's probably two of the most unfortunate looking lesbians I've ever met, but they're very sweet. I had the one send me photos she liked and they were all processed out the ass, so mine are pretty potatoshopped. But hey, $50 is $50.

Oh man, you would've raged. The whole thing was set in a room that had really bad florescent lights and mirrors in random places and when I looked at the camera sitting on the tripod the girl said "Don't touch that. It's worth more than you can comprehend." It was like a Canon EOS 1D Mark II or some shit. More than I can comprehend? Bitch, please, you still can't take a picture to save your life.

I'm glad you added that second part.. 'cause i insta-raged at the first part.

I was originally going to put that either in my living room or hallway.. some "public" part of my house... but then, after thinking about it, i really don't care to spend much of my time in the common rooms of my house. So that's hanging right above my bed. So that i see it very often.. it makes me happier that way <3

Yeah, had we brought sunglasses and earplugs we could have gotten way closer. Also I only had a crappy point and shoot, that and I generally don't know how to take pictures at all.

    • meeeetch

snagged an OM-10 for 35 bucks with a body cap.

    • meeeetch

Yeah, I'm not putting all of my hopes into these ebay deals but they could go really well. I'm sure I've come across a bunch of bodies like these at thrift stores around here, I was just unaware at the time. I could also scour those local shops if this doesn't go well. drug store developing is definitely what I had in mind at first, so I could get them onto the internet for feedback from people since I don't want to talk to my fuckhead grandpa even though he's a fucking A++++ photographer. Then once I get the concept of film photography down, do some self developing, etc etc far down the road bull shit.

    • meeeetch

Doing it myself is something I'll look into if it's that god damn easy. Really, now that I've considered it the film sounds like a lot easier and nicer/cost effective option except for getting them onto a computer which I could probably get some corner store or pro shop to transfer onto disc for me for a couple bucks. I'm pretty stoked since I have some good looking deals on watch, if they don't go over 80 I'm sold as fuck. Though most of these are buyitnows at 120 and shit so idk how lucky I'll get.

    • meeeetch

Even what you described before didn't sound bad. I live in the big city now so I've seen a few camera shops around here that I'm sure can get me going as far as developing is concerned since this is a pretty damn liberal city for Texas and art fags have got to be everywhere. I've got some good looking stuff on watch already, mostly OM-10 models.

I think I'd have to go film since I'm jewpoor. What kind of things should I be looking at for a film camera?

      cgi.ebay.com/Canon-FT-35mm-SLR-camera-with-50mm-lens_W0QQitemZ270531117559QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item3efce941f7

      cgi.ebay.com/OLYMPUS-OM-1-OM1-35mm-SLR-CAMERA-50mm-Lens_W0QQitemZ120531063462QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item1c103612a6

That kind of shit? I have 80 bucks I can throw down right now if I can get lucky.

    • meeeetch

I was hoping to stay 300 or under, don't know how realistic that is. What kind of prices am I looking at for a film camera of the same quality?

    • meeeetch

Alright, sounds like a plan. I've messed around with a bunch of point and clicks from both those brands, and mine is a Nikon but I don't know how those will compare to the fancy pants ones I'm looking for. I mainly want one for more options in things like focus, shutter speed and exposure. Though I suppose that's a little obvious. Thanks, and I'll throw some more info your way when I can. Hopefully soon.

    • meeeetch

Yeah, definitely. The point and click I have no is good enough for what I use it for but it doesn't do much else, obviously.

    • meeeetch

I'm sure you get absolutely tired of these kinds of questions but you're the only one I know to ask.

What would be a good starter digital camera and what kind of price range should I expect (new and used)?
