      * A missile silo officer falls asleep during his watch, with his face on the control board and "red button"/ As the colonel comes in, the officer snaps up and proudly reports: "Nothing to report during my watch, comrade Colonel"/ "Nothing to report, you say? Nothing to report?! Then where the hell is Belgium?!!"

      * Somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean, two submarines, Soviet and American, come to the surface. The Soviet one is old and rusty; the American one is new and shiny. On the Soviet one, the crew lounges about without any order, and a drunken captain yells at them: "Who threw a valenok (traditional Russian winter footwear made of felt) on the control board? I'm asking you, who threw a valenok on the control board?!". From the American submarine, a shaved, sober and well-dressed captain, notes sarcastically: "You know, folks, in America...". The Russian captain interrupts him, screaming: "America? America??! There is none of your fucking America anymore!" (Turns back to the crew) "Who threw a valenok onto the control board?!"

A Soviet newspaper reports: "Last night the N. Nuclear Powerstation fulfilled the Five Year Plan of heat energy generation in 4 microseconds."

"Nurse, where're we going?" / "To the morgue."/ "But I haven't died yet!"/ "The doc said 'to the morgue' - to the morgue it is!" / "But what is wrong with me?!" / "The autopsy will show!"

A memo in a student dining hall: Students, do not drop your food on the floor, two cats have already died after eating it.

A crocodile's stomach can digest concrete. A student's stomach can digest that of a crocodile.

A lecturer visits the mental hospital and gives a lecture about how great communism is. Everybody claps loudly except for one person who keeps quiet. The lecturer asks: "why aren't you clapping?" and the person replies "I'm not a psycho, I work here."

An individual on this website, a BaghdadBean recently posted a Journal about a very troubling issue. A friend that she was in the Army with recently got discharged, her husband lost his job, and her son died all within a relatively short span of time. This on top of caring for family members who are disabled. The son was recently cremated, but they do not have the necessary funds to bring home the ashes. Attempts are being made to raise some money--If there is any way this journal could be made public or pushed to where others can see it or be made aware of it, any assistance would be sincerely appreciated.

The first five (5) people to respond to this journal will get something made by me.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:

      1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. What you get is what you get.
      2. What I create will be just for you, with love.
      3. It'll be done this year (2009).
      4. I will not give you any clue what it's going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful. It might or might not be edible. I may even create something totally unbelievable and surprise you at work!! Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
      5. I reserve the right to do something strange or quirky, but I promise not to embarrass you in public ... well, no more so than usual. I also reserve the right to do something fairly predictable and boring, but with, you know, thought and love.
      6. In return, all you need to do is post this text into a note of your own and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your note.

IMPORTANT: This offer is null and void if I do not see you post your own note to pay this forward.

Had MOLAB again today. Fun stuff. Had to listen to a brief on TSUALE and the rest of 5 Paragraph orders. Drag.

At least I get to do some CAD next week. PFT is tomorrow. That's gonna kick my ass.

Beyond that, I got my ass down to Parkland, got into the UofI NROTC, and I am working on my commission as a 2Lt. Yay, Bachelors! Criminal Justice is my major.

      This Semester I'm in..

      Intro to Speech
      Intro to Crim Justice
      Naval Science 101
      Math 095 ( Algebra )

Should do okay on GPA. Just an update.

I'm going to Luzon next summer, and I am attempting to learn Tagalog. As with all languages, it gets easier when you practice with another individual who speaks it.

Anyone fancy a penpal who's trying to learn?

      Paalam, sige!

I used to sit at home all day..
      ..Letting my life waste away..
Until one day a man in blue..
..Said "Son, I got a job for you."
"There's a trouble and adventure, and loads a fun.."
"..And we'll even teach you how to shoot a gun."
"There's room and board and pay to boot--"
"And a brand new, tailored, business suit!"

Last friday night I saw Shooter. It was awesome. GySgt Bob Lee Swagger is the shit. Though I think the character may have been modelled after someone familiar. I'm going to purchase the book it was based upon, "Point of Impact" , relatively soon.

What made the evening better was Carolyn was there too. =P

Today I got back onto RvB for the first time in a while. I haven't been on nearly enough, so I reckon it's time for an update. I'm Eighteen now, and will soon be graduating High-School from Zion-Benton. This, in turn, means my enlistment draws ever nearer. I'm still deciding on a few things, though. Should I be an FMF Corpsman, or your basic ass-in-the-grass grunt Marine? I have somewhat of a medical background in the family, but my prowess with marksmanship thusfar compells me toward the Green side of the Naval departments. Maybe get on the USMC Marksmanship team or something. It's one thing I really enjoy, shooting. My ROTC has a team that I've been on for the past four years. I'm on Junior Varsity-- Average is 247 points out of three hundred. Not the best, but workable. ^_^ Ever improving, me. But I digress. Thoughts are welcomed, should anyone ever read this.

      Cheers,

      pj

Desert jacket. It's a light gortex shell with quilted fleece on the inside. It's super light weight with lots of vent panels to keep you from overheating. The best part is it works. I love it here Camp pendleton, it'll get to the 30s in the morning but jump to 60 when the sun comes up.

PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE POST. IT'S SO DANG TRUE* 1. At least 2 people
in this world love you so much they would die for you. 2. At least 15 people
in this world love you in some way. 3. The only reason anyone would ever
hate you is because they want to be just like you. 4. A smile from you can
bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you. 5. Every night,
SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep. 6. You mean the world to
someone. 7. If not for you, someone may not be living. 8. You are special
and unique. 9. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you. 10. When
you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it. 11. When
you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely
turned your back on the world. 12. When you think you have no chance of
getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in
yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it. 13. Always remember
the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks. 14. Always tell
someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know.
      15. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are
great. Add this as a comment to ten of your friends tonight and at midnight
your true love will find you. Something good will happen to you at 2:25
tomorrow. Get ready for the biggest shock of your life. Whoever breaks this
chain letter will be cursed with 10 relationship problems for the next ten
years tag ur it!! this is so scary!!! send this to 15 ppl in the next 143
min. and then press F6 and your crushes name will appear in big letters!! it
is so scary because it works.... but if you break the chain.. you will be
cursed w/ relationship problems. NO SEND BACKS

The woodland cammies we had, had a different styling to them than the new MARPATS. Most of the tricks I knew wouldn't work on 'em. The ones that would, really need to be demonstrated. They don't easily lend themselves to explanation.

I mean I could explain to you about wrapping a roll of toilet paper in masking tape to block your cover when ironing it, but without actually SHOWING you how it's done, it's kinda meaningless.

There are a few things though. Particularly for a Wall locker - J.O.B. inspection.
      1. Make sure you polish the soles of your dress shoes.
      2. Spend the money and buy decent plastic hangers. Inspectors love to see everything hanging at the same height.
      3. Save your money and buy complete extra sets of T-shirts, skivvies, socks, brass/awards, and cammies. Wash them once, name stamp 'em, then fold 'em up inspection ready and put 'em in a box and leave 'em in your wall locker. Buy one of the plastic display cards and put all your brass and awards on it. When inspection time rolls around, it's that much less you have to do. When your every-day wear sets need replacement, replace them from the box, buy new sets, and put the new ones in the box. It's best to buy the extras a few at a time each pay-day, but it's well worth it. I never got below an outstanding on a J.O.B. inspection and every outstanding got me a 72 hour liberty.

I've been doing it for about three years now. I love it. It's never the same thing twice. I've done a body recovery in Laos, Secret Service work in Vietnam and NYC, Security Alarm school in Wisconsin, MEF deployment in Iraq, a CSG deployment on the Kitty Hawk, and I'm headed to the Philippines next year. In the meantime, we're the Mine Countermeasures detachment on call for all of Southeast Asia.
