    • Ponderisms...Ever Wonder Why...

      MoonFire77

Greetings Friends, Sorry I haven't been on much...I've sorta overdone things these past few weeks & have been really tired & not feeling up to much of anything. I have started my new oil painting class & it is going quite well! As soon as we get a replacement for our camera, that passed away smiley2.gif a few months ago, I'll post some pics! Still looking for the pics of our weekend up in the Sierra's will post them as soon as they're found!

I will be heading to Chico this weekend with my Eldest Daughter & her friend, they're riding in the Wildflower Bike Marathon, so I won't be on in a while. I do, however, get to see my Step Daughter in law & all my Hubby's Family, Such Wonderful People! WhooHoo...it's great having in laws that are so loving & welcoming, I hate to use the word "InLaw" They're the Best Family!!! So, a Tedious 4 hour ride & unbelievable Heat is Well worth it to see Family & catch up! smiley12.gifsmiley12.gifsmiley12.gif

I thought I would leave you with these amusing Ponderisms...Hope you enjoy! smiley0.gif

      Things to Ponder....

I used to eat a lot of natural foods until I learned that most people die of natural causes.

There are two kinds of pedestrians: the quick and the dead.

      Life is sexually transmitted.

Health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing..

Have you noticed since everyone has a camcorder these days no one talks about seeing UFOs like they used to?

Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.

All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, 'I think I'll squeeze these dangly things and drink whatever comes out?'

If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song about him?

Why does your OB-GYN leave the room when you get undressed they are going to look up there anyway?

If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests? Take a guess...LOL!

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?

Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?

Does pushing the elevator button more than once make it arrive faster?

Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

    • Mountain Retreat...last Weekend <3

      MoonFire77

Well...I'm gonna try this again, kept getting cut off & losing the whole darn thing...3's a Charm, Right!?

DH & I had a Wonderful Time at the Sierra Sky Ranch...The only discomfort was the 4 hour ride up on the School Bus & the Motion Sickness! Yes I took my pain meds., but they only made the nausea worse...LOL...along with the smell of all the food the Girls were eating! LOL...I've never seen Girls eat so much in my Life (well...maybe once or twice...bleh...2 disgusting women)!!! smiley11.gif Great Group of well behaved, respectful & Fun Girls smiley11.gifsmiley0.gif

We arrived just after dusk...dark, but not so dark you couldn't see the scenery! OMG...you can actually see the stars...like jewels on Black Velvet! So Peaceful! So we unloaded the bus...we, were given the same room we had last year...#7( how awsome is that!) Stowed our Gear, while the Coaches, Caparones & Girls sorted out thier rooms & settled in. Then DH & I went to the Dining Room & had one of the best meals, I've had in a reastaurant, in a very Looonnngggggg time! I had Filet Mignon & Lobster (perfectly prepared...I shared with DH) & he had a Huge Fantastically Tender piece of Southern Fried Calamari Steak with all the fixins! (The proportions were so large that we ended up eating half of the meal the next day for lunch...I've never seen such huge potatoes...even after 2 meals of it we could only finish half of the twice baked tater, which is a half tater!!!)...Anyways, when we tried to pay for our Succulent meals & Guiness, we were told that the meals had been comped by management & they wouldn't accept no for an answer! Talk about Fantastic People! They Blow my mind...they are so Generous & treat everyone like Family...I didn't see anyone leave the diningroom with a frown...just Tons of Compliments & "See Ya next Week!" Shoot!!!LOL...even the Ghost's are Friendly!!! Yes!!! I said Ghosts, as in more than one! This place is not only Relaxing, Family orientated & Beautiful, it Has Ambiance Too!!! (apparently quite famous...I saw a documentary on A&E about this place!) Some of the kids & 2 of the chaparones got pics of the ghostly orbs & a partial wispy face...I heard them walking above my room, in what I thought was the attic, then was informed there is no attic where my room is located! Wooooo, Spooky, but Fun! Last year, I saw someone walk past my room on the Veranda...I assumed to clean the ash tray...only they never turned around to come back! We were the last room at the end of the Veranda( With a 12 Foot Drop, I might add!) That's when I realized that I must have seen one of the "Ghostly resident Employees" just goin about his business! Cool Place...Huh!?!? What's really amazing, even with the Ghosties & 17 giggling, hyper teenage girls, running up & down the halls, till1am...I had the best & longest nights sleep in almost 3 years!!! Maybe it was the clean air, the altitude, the crispness & woodsy aromas in the air...I don't know, but it was Great! Yeah...I'm back to wakey, wakey at home...what a drag...lol...litterally! smiley7.gif
Anyway...we had a Great time...DH didn't have to drive the group anywhere...they had activities planned at the Ranch, so he could relx, Too! He Finished a 300 or so page book about Navy Seals...whoohoo he actually got to read! I read & worked on a baby blanket (for the new GBaby due in June) & just walked around taking in the Fresh air & Beautiful Scenery!!! I was gonna take photos, but my stupid camera didn't behave & refused to keep a charge...soooooo, No pics this trip...Coach said she would send me, via email, copies of what she took, including the ghosties! Those might take awhile, as she is really busy...so when I find where DH stowed the pics I took last year, I'll post them! Poo...that's the way it goes! Can't complain...We had a great time & the trip home seemed to go faster & smoother than the trip up & I used my TENS Unit Almost all the way home & bought dramamine for the nausea! If any of you Ever get out this way...I'm sure you would love This place & enjoy the Ghosties & Rustic Beauty! "Sierra Sky Ranch, Oakhurst,Ca." Rocks!!! smiley0.gif

I'm finished packing...don't need much...just some last minute items for the toilettry Bag.

Darn...I fell asleep for three hours, earlier...but I needed it...still haven't been sleeping right...oh well...such is my lot! I know why I didn't sleep last night...1. is being excited about our upcoming escape to a Peaceful, much needed, getaway, 2.my twisted walks in an alternate Dream Reality...Poo, 3. Hot Flashes...you know that all us females over 40 are the real reason for Global warming...LOL! To bad there isn't a lottery where 1 woman in, say, 700 gets picked to have the stinking Menopause GobbletyGook & the rest of us (699) Send the Chosen one Chocolate & Icepacks! Now we're talking! LOL! smiley8.gifsmiley0.gif

My Furries probably think I hate them...I haven't taken them out, but once today...kinda seeing if they can hold thier "Smelly Gift Giving" for a longer period of time. While we're gone Darling Daughter may have to work or Have a Date...so I'm hoping they'll contain themselves, until she can get home! So falling asleep was a good thing, just hope my test didn't backfire...lol...literally! smiley7.gifsmiley0.gif Well I'm off to Check...my Westie is trying to push his little nose under the bedroom door...I think he's done waiting...Gotta Go!!!

The Softball Coach at the Private schol he works at, is half owner of the Lodge up there & they let me come along, give us a private Room, Feed us & I can walk all over the place getting pics for paintings & sketches! At Night you can Actually see the stars, it's so clear....and quiet! I can't wait!!! So I won't be on for awhile, due to packing & making sure my daughter has plenty of food, while we're gone...unless they have a wireless internet service up there! I'll take pics, Too! You can go on the web and put in Sierra Sky Ranch in Oakhurst, Ca. to see where we'll be, it's really nice & we get to stay there for Free! WhooHoo! FREE!!!

On a Bitter Sweet Note...& only cuz my girl let the cat out of the bag on an earlier journal, here....she's found a "Someone Special" a "BoyFriend"...she's almost 21 & this is her first "BoyFriend" EVER! I kinda Freaked out, cried like a baby, cuz she turned a corner without me...my baby isn't a baby any more & I have to realize that & treat her like an Adult...it's just that my mind see's her as a little girl...My little Girl! Now she's moving on in her life journey & I feel like another Book in mine has closed...waiting for the sequel, I wasn't expecting yet! My apron strings have taken the last cut, the apron is hung up, waiting for the next adventure! smiley12.gif

Soooo Those of you that have Children that are reaching the age of no return or have little girls & boys that Will someday grow up & make thier imprint on this World, move on without you, start thier own journey...Love them Fiendishly, get all of them you can, so that when thier time to move in a path of thier own, you have all those Wonderful memories, feelings & special moments, in a nice package to pull out & Cherish! Then when They come home with Children of thier own you can share them all again with them! smiley12.gif

    • Thanks to the Gems I found in You!

      MoonFire77

An old Friend of mine sent me this Beautiful "Gem" of a Story...it made sense for me to pass it on To The Gems I have found here! smiley12.gifsmiley12.gifsmiley12.gif

      Clay Balls

A man was exploring caves by the Seashore. In one of the caves he found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn't look like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.

He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock . Inside was a beautiful, precious stone!

Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left.

Then it struck him. He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of thousands, but he had just thrown it away!

It's like that with people. We look at someone, maybe even ourselves, and we see the external clay vessel. It doesn't look like much from the outside. It isn't always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it.

We see that person as less important than someone more beautiful or stylish or well known or wealthy. But we have not taken the time to find the treasure hidden inside that person.

There is a treasure in each and every one of us. If we take the time to get to know that person, then the clay begins to peel away and the brilliant gem begins to shine forth.

May we not come to the end of our lives and find out that we have thrown away a fortune in friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay.

I am so blessed by the gems of Family & the Friendship I have with you. Thank you for looking beyond my clay vessel.

APPRECIATE EVERY SINGLE THING YOU HAVE, ESPECIALLY YOUR FRIENDS!

LIFE IS TOO SHORT AND FRIENDS & FAMILY ARE TOO FEW & PRECIOUS TO THROW AWAY! smiley12.gif

Have A Happy, Relaxing, Adventurous & Blessed Weekend!!! smiley0.gif

Hubby's Casino has a good restaurant and he gets an employee rate for the food, however he has to wait for a break to order and then wait for the food and hope he gets served before his break is over! Some of the kitchen staff will wait till all the customer meals are taken care of before filling an employee order, which means sometimes he doesn't get to eat till next break and has to reheat it anyway, if someone does't filch it out of the fridge. At least with my meals they can't say it's something they brought, instead of his, home cooked lunch! LOL

    • DocRossim

Aw, don't mention it smiley1.gif . If you don't feel like paints start off with pencils, just casually sketching, even doodling is good to start off with, and then maybe try chalks or pastels -- they have such a natural feel, just drawing straight on and rubbing them into the picture with your fingers! It's been a while since I did any pastel work, might do some when I've got time...

Anyway, yeah, it can be a fulfilling hobby and quite relaxing sometimes too, so long as you have time to do it. smiley1.gif

I have days where I don't feel like cooking either, even if I like to cook, sometimes it's just too tiring!
I picked up a Costco Rotiserrie chicken before I came home last night for dinner, and cleaned up the kitchen this morning. Of course now I have to clean it again because I just got a pot of chili together to simmer for tonight!
Tomorrow we'll do our family celebrationof our anniversary. Big steaks, sauteed mushrooms and onions, twice baked potatoes and salad! We spent so much on getting the car fixed, we can't afford dinner out this year! Hubby is home tonight and tomorrow night then back to work.
He works from noon till eight most days but has been putting in extra hours with training to 'supervise' (paperwork)! When he works, I pack him dinner to take with him in the mornings and he either gets something light when he comes home or picks up something else, he also keeps things in his locker that are easy to fix, just in case he short on cash!
When I don't feel like cooking in the evenings, daughter opens a can of soup, has a sandwich or salad! I always have frozen leftovers to put together a dinner for hubby the next morning or cook something up early!

    • DocRossim

Actually, I completely forgot about it.
But then, I'm neither Irish n'or Christian, and the English don't make much of a deal of other people's saint's days... or our own actually, but we don't make anything of St. George's day because most people think he shouldn't be England's patron Saint and we should celebrate St. Edmond's day instead.

      Anyway...

Hope you had a good day though smiley8.gif

I had to take hubby downriver to get his car out of the shop, before he headed to work in the morning, I decided to pick up some basic household supplies as long as I was already in the 'shopping' areas! LOL
It was kind of peaceful just going on my own without any interuptions, but then I tend to overdo and keep going until I can't anymore!

The cake recipé is, I'm told, equal parts (ounce-per-ounce) of egg (including both yolk and white), flour, granulated sugar and cooking margarine or butter with one teaspoon of baking powder per every two ounces of everything else (one teaspoon per eight ounces of cakemix) and lots and lots of cocoa. The icing/frosting is basically cocoa and icing sugar melted together in hot water. Cooking temperature for cake is 180°C, time differs between ovens... can't remember what the aproximate time was, I'll get back to you on that.

    • DocRossim

The bridge is the most scenic I've ever seen, however it's also a popular place for 'jumpers'!
That and accidents when people try climbing around the cliffs to get to the caves!

      In reply to MoonFire77, #26:

Nice! Love the Huge windows & Large Yard! Kitchen is sorta small, but workable! But that's just me...I live in my Kitchen & need a Larger one! Enjoy the new Digs! smiley12.gif

Yeah It would be better if it were larger, but the picture makes it look smaller than it is really. Plus we'll be using the dining area as a kitchen area and using part of the living room as more of the dining room (probably).

Im not sure if it works or not because the roll is still big and the kitchen is my wifes "undisputed" territory with trespassers severely dealt with! :D

Fate is just that - fate! Can't hide from it, change it, avoid it, make anything of it. It happens. When I see people on tv saying we were saved by this and that... trust me, if it were their time, it would of been their time. Higher power. smiley0.gifsmiley12.gif

That being said, no, I wouldn't drink kool aid (sweetened or not) with any cult. LOL!

I have a bunch of LPs but used to have many more. Plus when I moved from my hometown, I left all my LPs behind, had to replace a bunch, lol.

As far as the tornado's are concerned, no we don't have a shelter, but I was born and reared in Oklahoma, so that should be self explanatory there, if you know of the Okie's habits, lmao!

I hear ya on the cds. I don't get cds anymore myself, of course most of the stuff I really like, I already have, lol. When I do add something, it's off of the internet. smiley1.gif

Foil and saran wrap both have them (I think they are a 'recent' development personally) - but wax paper does not!

Hubby had my birthday off, as well as my daughter! We had a quiet day at home, watched movies and they got me some birthstone jewelry. Why do they always put such short chains on these necklaces! The chain with the necklace stone wouldn't fit on a child! We'll keep a lookout at second hand stores for a replacement! But I can still wear the earrings! LOL
