Yeah, you did neither this weekend, despite all your big talk.

      Very disappointed in you, Mungly.

I liked the first pic better, personally. I think when you're going for a tree that is winterized like that, you want it to be kinda minimalist on branches as well. Placement is more of a personal preference thing. Do you want it to be really noticeable to others when you're wearing a shirt that would show that part of your arm or
More a surprise thing and would it bug you not to be able to look at it directly?

It's true, it and the Diva's Lament are honestly good, funny songs... but they have no place in that show.
      They seem crammed in.

I get that she has talent. I listen to her music and it makes me angry that she can sing and she's burying it under pop bullshit to "make a statement" because I really think she's just doing it to get fucking paid.

When I read that comment of yours I assumed that either Catherine ends up dead when he gets back or that he ends up dead before seeing her.

I never imagined he would take the extra "Fuck you" step of having an entire epilogue showing you how happy they are together, slowly building up to more and more joy and happiness, before finally pulling it all away and saying "NEIN! NEIN! NEIN! NEIN! NO JOY FOR YOU!"

It hurt me man. It hurt me where my heart would be.

Oh I know Duffy is a gleaming cock in a land of cocks. He sadly pissed off the wrong person in Weinstein and was blackballed. That movie was a bit onesided, but not by much. For me the sequel is worth it because of the characters only. I loved them, because the movie was so rude and crude and unpolished. Just purely a fun movie.

It used to be funny. Then they stopped.
I don't know if they started again, but I don't fanboise enough to wanna find out.

Whatever reason he joined whatever, he was also in that gawdawful Mumford which was just one long advertisement for L Ron. It's as funny as a Jack Chick tract done on film.

So, I was listening to yours and Duke's JengaJam from way back in the day and remembered there are some very astute observations about theater, viral videos, and dead babies in there.

      MUNG.

I'm writing a play based on something that happened to my uncle while he was teaching in Taiwan.

He was accused of murdering his roommate and placed under house arrest and it's one of the most surreal but absolutely fucking hilarious stories ever.

When I'm done, you get to find me a theater.

I am very fond of pop music, so it might be me that got on your nerves. We may be looking at this from two different definitions of pop though. To me it's a type of music, you seem to be saying it's defined by it's audience and if it gets on the radio. I would say Weezer is very much pop. Fountains of Wayne as well, and I was a fan of their stuff long before everyone got fed up with Stacy's Mom, their big commercial breakthrough. There's a band called Beauty Room that sounds to me like the smooth pop of Steely Dan, I like them. Then there's bands like LCD Soundsystem that can sound sort of... neo-disco? I like that too.

I understand what you are saying about a degree of snobbery, having grown through it myself. I grew up almost exclusively on classical and jazz. Then got an AM radio and fell in love with pop. Then came the hard rock and metal years, the 'I hate disco' mentality. For a while I couldn't admit to liking some music, it was beneath me. That attitude is a bit silly, and far behind me.

    • Jimmerz

Oh yeah. The whole image thing. It may be that I'm missing out on something, but it never mattered to me. I listen to music, but rarely watch videos. Didn't care about Bowie's clothes, liked his music. Probably wouldn't have cared back in the day about Elvis' hips, he doesn't do much for me. But I see what you are saying, she is trying to package herself the way Madonna did. It probably appeals to your interest in things theatrical, there is a lot to be said for this being part of being an entertainer. I'm pretty much oblivious to it.

    • Jimmerz

Whatever dude. You could say the same thing about any flavor of the week artist bringing home buckets of money. You could have said the same thing about Bay City Rollers, but you won't convince me their music had any appeal beyond the teenybopper crowd. Will she be different from that? Only time will tell. But the two songs of hers I've heard to date... Sucked. You like them? Great. Glad I won't be taking any long car trips with you. She is making money, and you seem to be arguing that this is an indication of quality. Forgive me, but that's just a facile load of crap.

    • Jimmerz

Lots of crappy artists have platinum hanging on the wall. The music industry is pretty much rigged so if you aren't with one of the major labels you don't get distribution or even radio play. And the major labels barely do A&R anymore, so what they produce has gotten progressively worse. None of this should be news to you...

    • Jimmerz

I'm a huge pop fan, both vintage and current. Didn't know she writes stuff, wouldn't know what she has written, but as a performer... She probably should stick to writing.

I did see the FNM cover. It was cool. More credence to the idea that while the song isn't bad, she should write stuff for other people.
