      I miss you guys!

I stopped by today, and I was reading everyone's journals, and remembered how much I miss all of you. Unfortunately school is still consuming massive amounts of time, but I wanted to at least tell everyone that I miss you, and that I hope all is going well! Jo, you must be due soon! I hope that your awesomely small baby is still doing really well. MTabek, I hope things have improved since last I read your journals, and I'm sorry that I've deserted your contest. MiraMira, sorry for leaving you to figure the clues out alone. Spartan, thanks for wondering if I'm alive. Manny, you better still be performing crazy feats of strength and putting us all to shame. TheSwmnCello, you're a mod! That's exciting! Rizz, I hope you and Nick have gotten to see each other loads and loads. Traci, I hope your story is going well and that your teeth are happy. And everyone else, I miss you too!

      College is rather, rather busy.

Hence why I have not been here much.

Here's to hoping it won't continue in that fashion!

But I don't want them to kick me out in the first week. That would be poor.

Randomness from me, this week: I'm learning Arabic, which is pretty much insane. Think about trying to learn a different alphabet, and think about how hard it would be to learn the different english letters, both their lowercase and uppercase letters. There's almost no connection. That's pretty much what I'm doing! smiley0.gif

I'm basically packed for college. I finished up last night, but late last night; somehow I do my best packing when it is late. It's kind of sad, my closet and dressers are all basically empty. smiley2.gif I have a ton of stuff that I'm taking though, more than I thought I would (though I don't know if it's actually that much, since I am making another place basically my home and all). At least, it feels like a lot

Anyway, I've packed all my stuff into two suitcases (one larger and one smaller), three duffel bags of increasing size, four copier paper cardboard boxes, a poster tube, a laundry basket, three smaller boxes, and my backpack and a medium sized bag for taking day stuff. Being the crazy person that I am, I listed everything that I packed as I packed it so that I'd make sure not to forget anything. smiley1.gifsmiley4.gif

I got a few new CDs recently, the most exciting of which is a CD by The Fray; they are really, really fantastic, I'm a big fan. It's playing right now.

Kind of related to The Fray (related in the way that one of The Fray's songs has played in the show and in the trailers related), I've fallen in love with Grey's Anatomy. Not sure if I talked about this before, but if I did, you get to hear it again! The first episode I saw was the two-part season finale to the season that just ended (season 2). I fell in love with it then, it was SO heartwrenching. I later saw a couple more episodes as reruns on TV, and then recently rented all of the first season and watched it. Now I'm watched season 2 reruns on TV (they seem to have three a week, which is nice) in anticipation of the season 3 series premier in the middle of September. Such an awesome show. smiley12.gif

      Some randomness!

Instead of writing about how much I'm freaking out about college, I'm trending it up with this fun list.

      A) Four jobs I have had in my life:
      B) Four movies I would watch over and over:
      C) Four places I have lived:
      D) Four TV shows I love to watch:

      F) Four websites I visit Daily:
      G) Four of my favorite foods:
      H) Four places I would like to be right now:
      I) Four people I think will respond:

      And we have....

      A) Four jobs I have had in my life:
      - Rock climbing instructor
      - Babysitter
I haven't gotten pain for the following two, but I've had no other jobs smiley1.gif

      - Already settled into college
      - The Carribbean
      - On a cruise (but a nice one)

      I) Four people I think will respond:
      - MTabek

(Though, all of them are rather busy with real-life things, I think!)

Let's not forget le randomage! Though this does resemble many of the places I'd like to be right now, it's still vaguely random.

    • Summer bliss

      Natalyaold

I love being able to relax. Not working is gorgeous!

It has been pleasantly balmy recently. I actually enjoy when it gets cool at night, it usually means that it wasn't all that hot during the day (but still warm), and it's somehow satisfying to be able to put on a sweatshirt and not be cold anymore. All too soon, all the layers in the world probably won't accomplish that.

Consequently, there's nothing new to post. Although, something you might find amusing (I know I do), my thrice ex boyfriend is now dating one of my best friends. Kind of makes you laugh, doesn't it? It does for me. smiley1.gif

And as for randomness, remember this guy?

Today was my actual last day of work. My not quite actual last day of work was last Thursday, but I had to work half days (and one whole day) this week. However, it's all finished now! Tommorow is my first official day of summer break. I have three weeks of nothingness, which I anticipate being blissful, before I have to go to school.

Exciting! Scary! I have lots of my bedding now, and have started piling things up around the house.

      Randomness!

"I'd be the worst possible Godfather. I'd probably drop her on her head at her christening. I'd forget all her birthdays until she was 18. Then I'd take her out and get her drunk. And, let's face it, quite possibly try and shag her."

      Now.

      Why are you still here?

I'm absolutely not kidding. I only went and saw it because someone posted something in the RvB journal saying that everyone should see it, and I want to do my part to pass on that message. If you care at all about your Earth, about your life, about your children's, your parent's, your family's lives, then go see this movie. Be empowered to change.

Save the world. It starts with one.

I haven't posted a journal lately. No particular reason why, I haven't been out of town, or really particularly busy, and I actually had things to write about, I just never did. The summer laziness is really getting to me. smiley0.gif

Instead of trying to write everything interesting out, I'll just make short bullet points in the hopes of keeping your interest throughout the entire journal.

Oh, one thing, I'm posting this journal from my laptop!! It came a few weeks ago, it is fantastically lovely. smiley0.gif

      * My last full week of work was last week. I'm working half days this week, and then I am completely done.
      * I leave for school in a little less than four weeks! Kind of scary, but also exciting.
      * I found out who my roommate is. She seems very nice.
      * After I am completely done with work this week, I will have three weeks to lounge around, which is very nice.
      * I've been getting stuff for my dorm room lately. So far I have gotten blankets, sheets, and a really nice comforter with leaves on it. My mom also crocheted me an afghan, which she recently finished.
      * I've been making lists of all the things I need to bring to school, and it's getting kind of out of hand.
      * I have to take my car in next week to be inspected and get all happy and fixed before I head off to school.
      * My brother and his girlfriend, who I really like, are visiting this week. She gave me a really awesome firefigher coffee mug. I just drank tea out of it.
      * We had fun guests stay with us this past weekend.
      * We have less fun guests coming to stay with us a couple weekends from now. Not only is one of the people coming someone I have a terribly strong aversion too, but they apparently also have a little kid. We never have little kids stay with us. I'm trying to figure ot how to conviniently not be home ever while they are here.
      * I successfully put some oil in my car last week. Next goal: change the oil myself. We'll see how that goes.
      * The X Games were on this past weekend. While I didn't get to see as much of them as I woud like, I did see many of my favorite events; skateboard vert, skateboard big air, and the awesome surfing competition. I love it!

With the severe lack of journals, I'm afraid there has also been a severe lack of randomness. Hopefully this will help.

I ordered my laptop for school a couple days ago! It's very exciting, it will be a terribly nice computer, pretty much exactly what I wanted. Here's the specs:

Lenovo ThinkPad T60 (Though most of you probably know, Lenovo now makes IBM laptops)
Intel Core Duo processor T2600 (2.13GHz)
      Windows XP Professional
      14.1" display
      1 GB DDR2 SDRAM
100 GB 5400 rpm hard drive
128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics card
      9 Cell Lithium-Ion battery
      DVD Recordably Dual Layer Drive
      etc.

I'm excited!! The only not-perfect thing is the graphics card, but it apparently is able to run Oblivion, and since I will at least be pretending to do work on it, all should be good.

Shipping time: 1-3 weeks. Can't wait! Though I'm sure I'll manage to break it as soon as I come (better now while the warranty is still good though. smiley8.gif )

Here's a random quote for you:

"You foolish child! What in heaven's name is a cow doing inside the house?"
-- "A warm environment might just be what Milky-White needs to produce his milk!"
"It's a she! How many times do I have to tell you? Only 'shes' can give milk!"

    • TheSwmnCello

      Okay, here's the full story.

She was in Korea over the summer. While in Korea, she suffered some sort of computer woes which resulted in reformatting her hard drive and reinstalling Windows. She didn't have her recovery CD (for XP Home) with her, so they installed what they had - XP Pro, in Korean. She can read Korean, but she prefers English, so when she got back she ran her recovery CD and it installed Home in addition to Pro. Then she didn't need Pro any more, so that was the one she wanted to get rid of.

Yeah, my hair's a little bit naturally curly. The only way I can really get it to show up is let it air dry without towelling it or combing it, preferably in a humid environment (e.g. the shower while I shave my legs). If I comb it, it still does a little bit of a curve as it dries (which is a royal pain in the ass when I want it to be straight).

I had Oblivion for my PC but couldn't play it, my computer sucks. I don't think the PC verison came with the Imperial coin though. My only complaints witht eh game so far are: You can't kill Fargoth, you can't harass/kill Vivec, and there is no Drunken Talking Mudcrab Merchant. Atleast the put M'Aiq the Lair in it.

Yeah, public transportation is out of the question.

As for the the "on the whole...most people agree with this" I can really only say, no they don't. That was the same logic used in the 80's. Remember when all we heard about was (not global warming), but that we were destroying the oceans. If we didn't stop destroying the oceans, we were all going to face serious consequences and die. Oh, how we were destroying the oceans. I believe they gave us 10 years back then, too. Well, guess what. Nothing changed in our behavior and 20 years later, we're still here.

The best I can say to the whole thing is this: The earth and sun go through many changes and cycles. There are highs, and there are lows. This will continue for all of eternity. We can't have an effect on any of it.

    • herbius

All I am saying is that Al Gore burns more fossil fuel in one day than you and I will burn together in our lifetime. Global warming is a hoax. There is nothing we as humans can do that can dramatically affect the temperature of the planet. Mount Pinatubo expoded in the early 90's and lowered the GLOBAL temperature by about a degree. That happened in a matter of days. To say that we're causing the earth to warm up a degree in 50 years, or something like that, is just absurd.

Here, global warming was debunked almost 10 years ago. If you want more information just ask me.

    • kirbyetp

It's just there are loads of scientists supporting both sides of the issue. While I am inclined to agree with those who do think that global warming is real, they've been talking about it for quite some time now and no one has does anything about it. What's even worse is that something very bad will have to happen before anyone does do anything, and I would rather not count the days until then.
