Do I seriously have a sign on my forehead that says "Make me your leader"?

Everytime I'm in a group in my classes, everyone in the group wants me to be their leader.

Oh, and I'm the only hispanic among a group of Arabs.

And I couldn't make that statement more politically correct; I tried.

Well, Saving The Secret went from "Being in a coma", to being a completely dead project. Apparently, when I accidentally restored my pc after messing with it too much, it did not occur to me that I forgot to backup the files for Saving the Secret (script, plot summary, voice clips).

And the Abyss Studios forums were of even less help, since the forum thread with all my documents have been removed too.

...unless I gave some of you all the scripts, this project is completely dead.

"Now, with the release of District 9 and the full spectrum of what Blomkamp is capable of, the movie speaks in a way as a giant cinematic middle finger that anyone doubted him."
      ~Film School Rejects

The quote best summarizes the impression I got from watching District 9.

This movie made my summer awesome.

This Linux thing has practically put in in a social coma. Been a while since I heard all of your voices.

I think I may have finally sorted out the hardware issues with Ubuntu Linux. Maybe.

This whole experience has made be become more knowledgeable, both in Linux and Windows Vista. It also introduced me to the concept of "Open Source", which is a term that describes a computer application in which the source code can be seen, used, and modified by anybody.

Linux is open source, Firefox is open source, and Google Chrome is somewhat open source(Project Chromium).

On Windows Vista, I installed some open source alternatives to applications people would normally use, or even pay for.

OpenOffice = MS Office Clone, made by creators of Java
ClamWIN = Anti Virus, without the fail
PowerDefragmentor(okay, this one is freeware, but it works) = Windows Defragmentor

Oh, I did mention that Firefox was open source, right?

      Internet Explorer Theme for Firefox

      Screenshot-Gmail-Inbox-walterjma-1.png
Xboxfox Theme for Firefox(my default theme for Firefox on Ubuntu Linux)

Best part: Firefox runs faster than IE or Google Chrome, thanks to this Add on. The Xboxfox theme displayed above is also being used in conjunction with the Compact Menu add on, which hides the menu in a similar fashion to Google Chrome.

The way Firefox works is that rather than giving you all kinds of different features up front, its better if you go find them yourself, so that you don't end up with unnecessary features that take up space.

Oh, finally, the current desktop I have on Ubuntu and Vista.

The reason I haven't been on lately is because I've been tinkering with my laptop, and the old family computer lately. While I look forward to how my experience with Linux Mint will be, I need to get it to work properly first.

I guess I have the habit of always finding out why something doesn't work right, even if there is little to no benefit for me in the long run (XBConnect is an example, its full of Pricks that were likely banned from Xbox Live).

I switched back to Firefox, after I realized that anything Chrome did, Firefox was able to do, and more. Plus, I don't even miss Google Chrome at all.

      FirefoxChrome.jpg

The screenshot above is Firefox, not Chrome, even though its the same look. The transition couldn't have been easier.

I got the Not a Portal Reference achievement in Splosion Man. Now my life is complete...

Oh, also, I'm typing this journal on a Linux.

Wasn't easy getting it on my laptop though. Since I wanted to get Linux but didn't want to get rid of Windows Vista, I had to let the Linux installation CD mess around with the sensitive windows files. Many times I'd fuck up this part. Yet, thanks to the handy Windows Recovery feature on my laptop, I didn't have to hire anybody to fix my laptop.

Eventually I managed to figure it out, so now I have both a Linux, and Windows Vista.

    • Summer of Arcade

      Nitro288

Recently a game called Splosion Man was released on the Xbox Live Marketplace. If you liked Portal, I'm sure you're going to love this game. The only difference is that this game is in 2D, and this game revolves around using explosions as a means to kill or navigate.

Hmm... with the summer game drought, a majority of the games I'll be playing will be Arcade games.

I still have Battlefield 1943, and I've recently bought a cheaper multiplayer game called CellFactor: Psychokinetic Wars, another class based shooter that seems like it got some of its ideas from Shadowrun.

Also, Marvel Vs Capcom 2 comes out in 5 days. for a drought, I think $40 for four games is a good price to pay.

      Yay, random quote!

      Jack Sparrow:
"Me? I'm dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly, it's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid."
    • Goals

      Nitro288

Psst, this is a word vomit. You have been warned. Scroll down to end to see the summary

For some time now, I've really just been going through the motions of life. Everyday is usually the same routine: Sleep, eat, browse the internet aimlessly, thinking about Philosophy and Theology(as a Deist, I tend to do this more often now), and play Battlefield 1943.

I felt something was missing besides the summer game drought. I mean, I have games to entertain me, but I wasn't getting the satisfaction I usually get.

Eventually, while looking up about Aristotle, I read in a blog a man talk about how for one year, he lived with his folks and only played Xbox Live, drank beer and went to strip clubs. He admitted in this blog that during that time, he felt like he was missing something. However, while reading Aristotle, he realized that just pursuing pleasure in his life isn't enough to satisfy a human.

Since then, came to a conclusion: I need to set goals for myself, to better my own life.
After some thinking, and getting my ass drunk with my sister and our friend David, there is goal I wish to accomplish by Spring next year.

That goal is to move out of this house, and live in an Apartment, with David as my roommate.

I was fine with the decision to stay at home until I graduated from College... Until recently. With the home I live in being property of my parents, there are a few restrictions and limitations in place. Despite how little they seem, I do not wish to continue to live under such restrictions.

Space- Honestly, my room is not a place where I feel very comfortable being in. Its practically a human being that is ready to vomit, but my mother insists that i'm trying to make an excuse for not cleaning up(even when I clean up, it still looks that way to me).

Freedom from Theist Influence- With my dad being a Liberal Christian, and my mother being a Moderate Christian on the borderline of Fundimentalism, it would feel LIBERATING not having to talk with them about Theology and the Bible; and holding back to avoid an argument, with them trying to end it using the "Appeal to Pity" logical fallacy, which is their response to EVERY ARGUMENT THAT COMES UP.

Freedom from Houserules- My parents only wish for me to follow three rules in the house:
First rule is to respect them. Simple, but my mother's definition of respect varies and is not clear. This sometimes has led to an argument, with the "Appeal to Pity" being her favorite fallacy to use.
Next rule is to not make noise once it is past midnight. I seriously hate this one, it takes the fun out of doing fun or funny stuff on Xbox Live.
Final rule is to always inform them of where I am going. Its annoying, since I'm want to live independently, which means choosing whether to tell them where I went or am going to go.

Right now, I'm searching even harder for jobs. I intend to raise up money so that me and David can get supplies for a Handyman Apartment in NYC, which is an apartment that offers cheap rent, but as a downside to it, it is in terrible condition that we must fix with our own resources.

Well, theres the story of my life.

      Summary

I'm planning to moving out, for many reasons.

    • halosavior

dude people just tell me what's up with them. I help them (take it to God, or God uses me), and then I ask for other people to pray for them. There's nothing wrong with people telling me what's going on in their life, I tell them to take it to God no matter what, or they've already taken it to Christ. So yeahs

You have struggled so much to help me, and I thank you for trying. You have answered yes, but again I fear you are not ready. I will lend my hand to you once more, I trust you will use it wisly:

I have hidden what you must not see
I will lend my hand to you
I have hidden what will help you
All you have to do is look upon me when you first see me
And light everything I am and uncover that which is hidden

I wish you luck my friends. If you find that which is hidden it will greatly benifit you, but only if you are willing. Will you walk with me?
