    • Too Many Bones...

      NortyBits

I have this huge skeletal quiz coming up in Anatomy... It's like 70 bones, but we have to memorize about 100. (And it's not just bones, but features of the bones!) I'll be lucky to get a passing grade on that quiz... But anyway! I haven't made a new journal in a while, and I haven't posted any more of my story. So here is part 6 of my story! Thanks for reading, those few of you who do!

The weekend had finally arrived. Landon felt relieved and refreshed when he awoke at 10 on this lovely spring morning. He never got to sleep-in until the weekend arrived, so he utilized his weekends wisely. After getting up and throwing on a pair of pants he sauntered into the living room to let Snowbell out into the yard.
      “Come on, Bells,†Landon coaxed.
It was almost unnecessary because Snowbell knew the drill. She darted out into the yard. Landon then walked into the kitchen to make some toast, since there was little else to eat. A few moments passed and then Landon heard a rather strange sound emanating from his yard. After walking out to his yard he saw Snowbell barking through the fence and into Marcus’ yard.
“Snowbell, you crazy girl, what’re you barking at?†Landon asked, perplexed.
Snowbell almost never barked, and she was very familiar with Marcus, so Landon wasn’t sure what she had a problem with. Landon walked over to the fence that divided the two yards and peaked over. What…? Landon thought, confused.
Standing at the fence and silent as stone, was a brown Labrador Retriever with a heavily bandaged front leg and one of those funny looking cones around its neck. Marcus never talked about getting a dog, thought Landon.
Marcus must have heard the barking because he had also left his house and started toward the source of the noise soon after Landon had.
“Hey, Marcus. What’s with the damaged dog?â€Â
“I found him on my way home from work the other day,†Marcus replied without much thought.
“I didn’t know you had a soft spot for injured animals,†Landon chuckled.
“Ya’ know, neither did I. But I got to thinking, when I saw him just limping around, about all the possibilities!â€Â
Marcus had a sly, giddy grin about him, as the strange comment started to sink-in with Landon.
“No… You’re going to use this hurt dog to pick up woman, aren’t you?†said Landon, almost indignantly.
“Hey! I ain’t that bad! But yes… That was my first idea…†Marcus replied, slightly embarrassed.
“At least you’re taking care of him…†Landon said with a sigh.
“And besides! This dog doesn’t even have a collar, but I know he belongs to someone. I’ll just wait until I figure out whom he belongs too. The bonus is if that person is a single lady who’s looking for that dashing, gallant man to return her lost dog to her,†said Marcus as a smile spread across his face.
      “You’re terrible,†responded Landon with a light laugh.
      “I try to be.â€Â
A moment passed while the two were left with their thoughts.
“Hey, I’m goin’ down to the mini mart later to pick up some groceries. You need anything?†asked Landon, remembering that his kitchen was in serious lack of sustenance.
“Well… I’m outta beer…†replied Marcus deep in thought.
“Same here. That’s on my list as well.â€Â
“Other than that, I can’t think of anything. I just went shopping pretty recently because this dog here needed some food.â€Â
“Oh. Right! Well, I’m going to leave pretty soon. Just call if you think of anything.â€Â
“’Kay. Come over later, and we’ll have a beer!†announced Marcus.
      “I’ll be sure to.â€Â
With that, Landon turned and went into his house. Snowbell followed behind him. After digging up some clothes and making himself look presentable, Landon threw on his shoes.
      “Let’s go, Snowbell!†called Landon.
He had Snowbell’s purple leash in his hands, ready to take Snowbell on a walk with him to the mini mart. This had gotten her pretty excited. She ran over and bounced about as Landon tried to hold her still in order to put on her leash. After finally getting Snowbell secured to her leash, Landon grabbed his wallet, and then he and Snowbell were off to the mini mart.
The weather outside was pleasant. They walked along the sidewalks of the urban neighborhood briskly. Snowbell loved to stop and sniff the various things that required a sniff. At the crosswalk where Landon needed to cross to get to the mini mart he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. On the wooden light pole next to him he saw a sign. ‘Missing’ it read.
The sign had a photo of a very familiar chocolate-colored dog. ‘Cocoa’ was his name. The sign said that the dog had gone missing about four days ago. There’s no way… thought Landon as he studied the photo of the dog. He looked at the phone number and thought about calling it. I guess I should tell Marcus.
He continued across the street and into the mini mart.

    • 18! Now What...?

      NortyBits

I'm finally 18. A lot of good that did me... My life still sucks as bad as it did when I was 17. Maybe I just need to be patient. Anyway! Here is part 5 of my story, for anyone who still reads it:

After the police and Michelle got together to discuss what had happened and investigated the damage, it was concluded that it was a robbery. Luckily, Michelle owned nothing of real value. She looked around and found that only her DVD player, a few DVDs, and the smaller television in her bedroom were stolen. The robber was careful to not leave an unnecessary mess, in case it left incriminating evidence behind. The worst loss was that of Cocoa.
She and an officer looked all over the house and surrounding yard but there wasn’t much to go on. The officer said that the robber might have kidnapped the dog or the dog got shot and stumbled off. Unfortunately, the latter of the options was the one best supported by the scarce evidence. With the splatter of blood and the trail of it that led out the back of the yard, the police feared that Cocoa was lying somewhere and dying. Caitlin thought it was possible that Cocoa was chased away and was now missing. Either way, Michelle was devastated. The one man in her life that she could always count-on was gone.
The officers wished the two ‘good luck’ and drove away to make their reports. Caitlin helped Michelle to get some things packed up so that Michelle could get away from the house for a little while. Michelle was just following behind Caitlin, almost like a ghost. Caitlin threw Michelle’s stuff into the car and the two drove off.
“I’ll have Jacob call some people to get that widow on your door repaired, ok?†Caitlin said as she drove.
      “Uh-huh…†mumbled Michelle.
“Ya’ know, I just don’t think Cocoa’s- dead. And I know you don’t think so either. How about we make some ‘Missing’ signs and post them all over town?†Caitlin offered helpfully.
“You really don’ think so…?†Michelle replied lifelessly.
      “I just have this feeling, that’s all.â€Â
Michelle just sat quietly, eyes bloodshot and spirits low. Caitlin frowned slightly and decided to let Michelle have some quiet to collect her thoughts. The rest of the car ride was silent.
Finally, the small house popped back into view and Caitlin parked the car. Jacob came out and carried Michelle’s things into the house. Little Alexis was peeking her head out from the doorway of the house as Caitlin and Michelle approached. She quickly ran back into the house and sat down on the couch where Michelle’s stuff was placed.
Caitlin was first to enter followed slowly by Michelle. Jacob was on the other couch and watching television. Caitlin went and sat down by Jacob and Michelle sat down on the other couch beside her things. Alexis came running up to her.
“Hiya, Auntie Michelle! Where’s Cocoa?†asked Alexis excitedly.
Michelle looked down at Alexis and the tears started to flow once more.

Again, thanks so much to anyone who still puts up with my story!

I've been super stressed and running around at top speed for about a week. It's not going to stop anytime soon, either... *sigh* I'm bogged down with homework, trying to apply to colleges, working on obtaining scholarships, and have the SATs in about a week!!! But! A week from now, on October 2nd, I turn 18!!! I've wanted to turn 18 since I was born! lol. Not quite that dramatic, but it sure will be a huge load off of my chest. (Even as small as my chest is...) Everyone is off in college, and I miss them a lot. I hope all of you have been in good spirits!
      Here is part 4. It's in Landon's P.O.V. (If you haven't noticed, there's a pattern.):

I need a drink, thought Landon to himself as he approached the door to his house.
Once Landon got his door unlocked his favorite sight awaited him. Sitting just out of the way of the door, his lady sat in wait. She was ready to welcome him home, as always.
“Hey, Bells,†Landon said as Snowbell pranced over.
He started scratching her head and petting her long, black and white coat happily. If there was anything he loved more than writing it was coming home to a lady that would never get mad at him. Snowbell had gotten into the habit of waiting by the front door for Landon to get home.
After petting his gorgeous Siberian Husky for a few minutes, Landon started heading to the back end of the house.
“Come on, Snowbell. Go outside,†Landon instructed.
Snowbell was following him around and then she slipped out the door.
I need to clean up the crap and mow the yard, Landon thought, grumbling. Maybe I can pay Marcus to do it.
Marcus was a good friend of Landon’s whom he met when he moved into the neighborhood a few years back. They were both single and enjoyed the occasional beer together while they talked about the ideal woman. They’d do various favors for each other as well. Marcus, before he left for work, would come over and let Snowbell out to go to the bathroom. With some of the odd hours Landon had to work he needed someone he could trust to take care of his Snowbell.
Snowbell had finished up her usual business, which included sniffing around the yard, and then trotted back into the house. Landon shut and locked the door.
He trudged into the kitchen to see if there was something to eat. The fridge wasn’t much help. Not even a single beer. He made a note to himself to get out and do some shopping sometime soon. With that, he walked slowly to his favorite chair and sat down. Once he located the elusive remote control he clicked on the television and reclined. Snowbell curled up in a nearby corner. He wasn’t sure how long he was watching the Discovery channel before he fell asleep.

    • Hello and Story Update

      NortyBits

I know I promised that I'd post more of my story, but it's been too long! So here is the 3rd part of my story titled If Cinderella's Slipper Had Four Feet. (A slight change to the title.) If you've forgotten what has happened, here's a small reminder:
*Michelle is introduced in part 1. She an animator that lives alone with her dog Cocoa.
*Landon is introduced in part 2. He's at his office at his dull job.

With the large bag of dog food under one arm and her tote and keys in the other hand Michelle trudged up the few steps of her porch.
What a busy day… I’m exhausted, thought Michelle as she fought anxiously with her keys so she could get inside and relax.
When her house key finally cooperated and she entered her house Michelle knew instantly that something wasn’t right. She carefully set the bag down by the door and crept inside her house. After a few steps she switched on the nearest set of lights. These illuminated most of the living room but the kitchen was off a ways. She crept along a little farther, until the kitchen and back of the house were visible. She switched on the kitchen lights.
      “Oh my god!†Michelle screamed, terrified.
There in the back of the house the back door stood ajar, and a strange crimson fluid could be seen sprinkled and splattered around the area. The one window on the back door was smashed in and the shards of glass added to the mess on the floor. Panicked, Michelle ran from the back and into the living room.
“Cocoa! Cocoa! Where are you? Cocoa! Come here!†Michelle yelled frantically, tears welling in her eyes as she realized what had happened.
      “Cocoa! Please! COCOA!â€Â
Horrified at the thought that the killer might still be nearby, Michelle ran back into her car and drove off as fast as she could manage.
Even though it was illegal to talk while driving Michelle dug up her cell phone as soon as she was stopped at a red light and dialed that familiar memorized number. It only rang about two times and then somebody finally answered.
      “Hello?â€Â
      “Caitlin, I’m coming over! Emergency!â€Â
There was silence for a few moments.
“Michelle? Are you ok? What’s wrong?â€Â
“Can’t talk! Be there soon! Click…â€Â
Michelle knew the way to her best friend’s house well, and she drove mindlessly there. She couldn’t allow herself to break down until she was safely out of the car.
After what seemed like an eternity the small white house and concrete driveway appeared. Michelle screeched to a halt, turned off the car, and ran up to the house. Ever-concerned Caitlin and her husband Jacob were waiting at the door.
“Michelle! Honey! My god, what happened? You look terrible!â€Â
Michelle ran full speed into Caitlin’s arms and let her bottled emotions spill forth. She broke down and sobbed. Jacob, unsure of what to do, went inside to make sure Alexis stayed back until things calmed down.
“Michelle! Talk to me! Please! What happened?†Caitlin asked as she held her sobbing best friend tightly.
“My h-house- Cocoa-!†was all Michelle could muster at the moment.
With a vague idea of what was going on, Caitlin called to Jacob.
“Jacob! Call the police and send them to Michelle’s.â€Â
      “Ok…†Jacob responded wistfully.
He went to the phone and started making calls.
“Alright now Michelle, I’m going to need you to calm down long enough to explain the situation to the police, ok?†Caitlin coaxed.
Michelle nodded meekly and continued to sob. Caitlin patted Michelle’s head soothingly and tried coaxing more out of her.
“We should go meet the police at your house. It’s not on fire, is it? Should I have Jacob call the fire department instead?â€Â
      “N-not on fire-“
“Ok. That’s good. Come on, I’ll drive us there and you can explain on the way.â€Â
Michelle nodded meekly again. Caitlin carefully moved herself and Michelle toward Michelle’s car. She opened the passenger side door and sat Michelle down.
“I’ll be right back! I have to talk to Jacob, and then we’ll head out! Ok?†Caitlin called to Michelle as she ran back to the house.
Caitlin found Jacob and Alexis standing around anxiously in the living room.
“Mommy? What’s wrong wiff Auntie Michelle?†Alexis asked concernedly.
“Shhh. Not right now, Lex,†Jacob said as Caitlin got to them.
“I’m going to take Michelle to her house so she can talk with the cops,†Caitlin explained hurriedly.
      “Alright. Come home soon.â€Â
Jacob kissed his wife and then she ran off out the door. Alexis stared sadly after her mother. Jacob noticed her genuine, five-years-old concern and patted his daughter’s head softly.

How do you like it so far? Please leave any comments/suggestions! Thanks so much, everyone! ^___^

I have finally returned home from my hectic August schedule. And just in-time to start school! I start that crap all over again, TODAY! I'm officially a senior! Boo yaw! I just wanna go to Prom, graduate, and GTFO!
My summer was awesome, with such highlights as my Alaskan cruise and PAX.
Michael will be off to college later this month. I am trying to mentally prepare for that, but it's not working-out so well... *tears*
I didn't get that job that I wanted SO bad, at the library. I dunno what it is with me, but NOBODY wants to hire me!
While I was on the cruise, I got inspired to write more of my story! It's coming along quite well! And the title got revamped! I can't wait to post more of it for everyone!

      Have a lovely day!

      NortyBits

Michael and I returned from Palouse on Monday. The 5-hour car ride was dull, but the trip was fun! Michael hit a bird on the way back to Auburn. It was a dumb bird anyway! Flew right out in front of us, and when you're traveling at 70 mph, you don't stop for a tiny bird. The local pool was freezing, but fun. No tan to speak of. Oh! And Michael found Rock Band for $99.99 on sale in Moscow, Idaho! He was freaking out, then bought it shortly afterward. It's a fun game!
I just get home from Palouse, and I'm off for a week long cruise on Sunday. It's the MS Westerdam, and it sails from Seattle to 3 cities in Alaska (Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan) and to Victoria Canada. Needless to say, this ship is a luxury cruise. My rich-ass grandparents wanted to take my brother and me on this cruise. I won't be online for a while, after Sunday.
I dunno if I should post more of my story or not. I've only posted the first 2 parts. It's been put-off for more important things... August is way too short.

      NortyBits

As the title implies, I'll be gone. Michael and I will be leaving for Palouse (eastern Washington) tomorrow and returning Sunday. My parents live out there, and I've neglected to come and see them for one summer already... It'll be a 5+ hour drive that poor Michael has to make. And it'll be all hot, humid, and icky. Basically the exact opposite of Auburn's weather. I bought cute summer clothes and I want to wear them, dammit! A few things we will probably end up doing are: Swimming (HELL YEAH!), exploring the tiny town, play at the nearby school playground (the high school I attended very shortly), go into Idaho to explore the mall, and going firing with my dad at the shooting range. He's wanted to take Michael firing for so long... Plus I have much needed eye and dental appointments scheduled for the SAME day! *quivers*
My story is becoming epically long... I dunno if I want to keep posting it, for fear of everyone becoming bored with it. I had no idea it was so well shaped that I could turn it into a longer story.
I can't wait until tomorrow! Well, I've laundry and packing to do! I'll check-up on all you guys when I return! Have a fun week!

    • If Cinderella Had Four Feet pt. 2

      NortyBits

This part introduces the male character in my story. After this chunk, the story will alternate points of view between the female and male characters. Thanks for following along!

10:11PM, the glowing digital clock proclaimed.
Landon Bates slowly lifted his head off his desk and peeled away a piece of paper from his cheek that had decided to take a nap with him. He cursed under his breath when he looked at the ominous hour. Fuck, he thought angrily. I did it again.
Editing stories could be a tedious task, especially when the hopeful author was certainly no Dean Koontz. Anybody would fall asleep having to read this dribble, he thought with a heavy sigh.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone. ‘1 Missed’ and ‘New Voicemail’. The two usually go hand-in-hand. He didn’t bother checking the number of the missed call and went straight to check his voicemail. A familiar voice greeted him in a sour tone.
“Hi, Landon. It’s Tanya. I can’t understand why you never call me, or even answer your damn cell! What’s your deal, anyway? Dammit. This passed month has been fruitless! We haven’t done a thing! I’m sorry, but I just don’t think this is gunna work out between us. Bye.â€Â
After the helpful female automated voice read Landon his options for the message, he instinctively chose the ‘Delete’ option. Sadly, he knew that the relationship was going to be a short-lived one.
He met her at the mini mart near his house, and invited her out for a drink. That was the only form of a date they’d been on in the course of about a month. Sure she was attractive, but like most overly attractive people, she wasn’t gifted with intelligence. She was just dim and transparent. He hated those types of people, but at the age of twenty-seven, he had to stop being so picky. He’d end up alone for the rest of his life, at this rate. Was it too much to ask for a semi-decent woman these days?
Landon slouched out of his rolling chair and turned off his computer. After piling the many papers on his desk into a messy stack, he picked up his briefcase and headed for the door of his office. With one glance backward, he switched off his lights and locked his door.

    • A New Story: If Cinderella Had Four Feet

      NortyBits

Well... This boredom has spurred me to write a new story! But this time it's completely original! I didn't even use the names of anybody I knew! It's kind of long-ish, and it's a little mushy, but I swear it won't suck that bad! I just need you, my friends, to stick with it!
The idea came to me one night, when I couldn't fall asleep for the life of me! I sure hope you like it, but the styles a bit different. It's broken-up by the different character's points-of-view. Hopefully the title will make sense later, but I cannot give away any more. Here's part 1:

7:43, the wall clock nagged. The house was all but silent except for the incessant nagging coming from the clock.
“I know I’m running late!†grumbled Michelle in the direction of the clock.
Then she paused for a moment, just a moment, to contemplate just how absurd it was that she was venting to an inanimate object. Though, in her line of work, making inanimate objects talk back was no problem at all. She was, after all, an animator. Heck! Even a simple, yellow sponge has something to say!
She’d loved all sorts of cartoons when she was younger, and to be honest, still does. That’s why she wanted to get into animation, to create fun shows that others would come to love.
Cocoa poked his furry, brown head up at the sound of his master’s agitated voice. Cocoa knew the general morning routine of Michelle consisted of occasional talking, albeit cursing. He lazily got up, stretched, and pranced happily to his master.
“Ah! Cocoa! I almost forgot to feed you!†said Michelle as she raced around the living room trying to locate the bra she’d carelessly shucked off the night before.
Cocoa trotted off toward the kitchen, knowing breakfast was soon to follow. After a few minutes, Michelle bustled into the kitchen and grabbed that large, familiar bag. Cocoa’s tail wagged anxiously. She poured the remaining kibbles into Cocoa’s blue dish, then crumpled the bag and threw it hastily to one side.
“Damn. I need to pick up more dog food after work,†Michelle said half to herself, and half to the now preoccupied Cocoa.
She rushed back into the living room, quickly threw her scattered materials into her tote, and located her coat. As she took a step out the front door, she cursed quietly to herself and turned back into the house.
      “Cocoa! Outside! Go potty!†she hollered.
It took a moment, but Cocoa soon ran obediently past her legs and into the yard. She took this opportunity to look over her small garden just to the right of the porch. It was a pathetic excuse for a garden. One rose bush, a strawberry plant, a few pansies, and about one million weeds. She made a note to herself to try to get outside and work this weekend. A house doesn’t just take care of itself.
Michelle never, in a million years, thought she’d own a house. With a great yard, even! But her Grandma Lou had it written into her will that her only granddaughter was to inherit the house and large chunk of yard. She had a grandson from Michelle’s uncle Joe, but he had all but written-off the family. Michelle loved her grandma, but she died of cancer a few years back.
To help Michelle cope with the loss, her best friend Caitlin and Caitlin’s husband, Jacob, bought her a chocolate Labrador Retriever. Their daughter, Alexis, was barely one-year-old at the time. Little Alexis loves going over to “Auntie Michelle’s†house to play with Cocoa.
That very dog was currently sniffing the tree he just nailed.
“Ok! Back inside! Come on, Cocoa!†called Michelle.
Cocoa zoomed back into the house and returned to eating his breakfast. Michelle turned, locked the door, and headed for her car.

Sorry about the lack of indentation... These journals aren't the greatest for posting stories because they don't allow indented work! Tell me, honestly, what you think!

Man! This crappy, not-warm summer sun gives me false hope... I think it's going to be a pleasantly hot day, but I step outside in my shorts and tank top only to discover that it's lukewarm at best.
Meanwhile, Michael is off enjoying (suffering?) in +95 degree weather in Arizona. He comes back on Tuesday. I can't wait!
I have tons I can do but no gumption to do it. I did draw this pretty cool picture of Zero-Suit Samus for Michael! I've also been making window clings! It's fun!
Well... I have an XBox 360 in my possession temporarily, but the one game I want to play is the one I'm totally stuck on! My Viva Piñata garden isn't progressing at all... I'm also going to start playing Katamari and Assassin's Creed. Hexic is addicting... I just can't wait until I get to play Final Fantasy X again! The XBox 360 needs a few more fun, not-so-serious games like Viva Piñata and Katamari. Come check me out on XBox 360! I'm Princess Norty!

2 things i forgot to say about angel

      1) he loses his soul if he ever experiences a "moment of pure happiness"
      2) he experienced a moment of "pure happiness" with sex with buffy. now he is afraid to do that with anyone or he will turn evil again

thats because you tend to stereotype people, and are very close minded to how you could be wrong. and i wouldnt show that other side to you as i dont need to.

also i now have a much easier way to get you the episodes. how much HDD space do you have on your laptop?

did you watch heroes? i forgot to watch it (i was thinking it was saturday till this mourning when i woke up and realized it was tuesday....technically it was yesterday mourning as its 3:34 am now) so i had to DL it and i just finished watching it.

so your previous comment was filled with disbelief(if i can spell it right) I needed to find a retail outlet to work at.

idk when i'll let you know when i decide.

ride from parents, no i dont drive, my parents said i need a job before i get a DL.

(why do you talk about something change the subject then go back to talking about something similar to the original?)

      My roommate is kenneth (kirak).

The eastern campus isnt as large as UW so i dont have to worry too much.

College is great so far. I havent started classes yet but everything else is fine.

uh. yea. i can get it to you on 2 discs...duh. just wanted to let ya know it would be more.

this guy wakes up on an island off the coast of seattle and knows everything besides his name. (this explains it well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuOK8dnoKsM)

to get it to you i can come by sometime. wakefield really wants me to stop by and see him again anyways. besides its been really boring lately and would be nice to get out of the house for once

If you want john doe i might be able to burn it to a disc ( i downloaded all the episodes which is where i got that pic from)

shhhh....how did you know bout the corpse?

other than bored i've been playing games. PAIN just got a new level. that game is so much fun. and you 'd probably find the sexual innuendos amusing. like the lemonade stand with 2 giant lemons next to each other held together by something that resembles a bra. or the massage parlor that has a sign saying now serving 69.
