That's right, yours truely is being published smiley0.gif

So ok, it's only for a small book called Skillism (buyable through amazon etc.) and used pretty much for the advertisment of artists they like enough to want to advertise (a nice fact to know, especially since they asked me personally based on my work on DeviantArt), but it's still being published, right? smiley8.gif
Anyway they found me and asked to use one of my pigeon paintings for their up-and-coming book on birds, so I submitted this fellow...
      04635c05f10ccefc95f55564b9111114-d5990mu

And there you have it. Shortly I will be published, and although I won't get paid anything for submitting to it, I ought to get a few commissions off the back of it at least smiley1.gif

As you probably all now my usual media of choice for artwork is acrylic paint. Over the years I have collected hundreds of paints all of slightly different colours (most of which are Games Workshop paints as they have, or at least had, the largest colour choice in acrylic. Several years ago (I daren't even try to work out exactly how many) I bout the whole range, every colour possible in the Games Workshop range. Sadly, I chose exactly the wrong time to do it as the new-style pot was not exactly air-tight... They fixed this soon after, but too late for me.

Now and again I'd go for a colour and it would be dried up. The unfortunate paint would be disposed of and I'd carry on, mixing the missing shade. I knew the time would come come to check them all, however...

I've been putting this off for a long time... I just been through my stock of paints...

...Over three quarters of them were totally solid, the remaining one third nearly dry too.

      *sigh*

I sense an expencive replacement session comming on...

(BTW, don't panic - I refer to just that specific range of paints. I still have a good selection of other paints left... for now, at least)

Indeed I did, well, the original drawing anyway; the "FameWolf" has been modded several times now :)

I don't think it'll be necessary to injure her, she seems to have committed social suicide by departing from any groups or Facebook pages we have in common, including the groups that occupy like 90% of her Roosterteeth log. Even though I expressly stated I'd be civil in those groups.

I'm actually thinking of switching this so that it's Inferno who's forcing Nautilus down, I'll show you the revised sketch when I've got one, but thanks for the tips, I'll have a think about that when I'm sketching. You're right about the overhead swings by the way, I was thinking that Nautilus had swung down and Inferno had blocked him and then forced him back, but I think they're leaning the wrong way for that looking at it now, I'm going to have Inferno leaning forward and Nautilus leaning back with his right leg steadying him as he's forced back.

Where did you find that? and is there a full video?

    • DocRossim

The skeletons one? I'll look for it, thanks. The pocket one might be more handy since it's smaller though, I'll have to have a think about it.

    • DocRossim

Sorry, I didn't see your reply since you replied on your own profile... is that ironic?
Well it'll probably become permanent eventually so I'm using it basically to get used to it. I still don't like elements of it but it's not so bad and there are some good things about it, like the new reply system and the "conversation" button on profile comments. The new private messaging system is kind or rubbish though, it's not very clear when you have a new message when you have several conversations going at once, and there's no way of mass-deleting messages or deleting a conversation in one go.

Thanks for the info, I looked up the book on Amazon but there was no preview and it's only from other sellers, I may look for it elsewhere so I can take a look inside and see if it's what I'm looking for. I'll also look for the DK skeletons one.

    • Nudge1

Hmm, is the new profile worth it?

As for the author, it's by Daniel Carter and Michael Courtney. Another one that may help is Pocket Skeletons by DK. There are some nice animal skelly-bobs in there too :)

    • DocRossim

Just realised that you're using the old profile still, which means you haven't been getting alerts when I reply to comments.

Thanks for the book suggestion (anatomy for the artist). Who's the author? Just wondering so I can look it up for easily.

So I finally got around to looking up the "firing guns in the air" thing.

If you were able to shoot straight up in the air, Myth Busters suggest it would not be, otherwise probably.

      Episode 50: Bullets Fired Up

Bullets fired into the air maintain their lethal capability when they eventually fall back down.

      busted / plausible / confirmed

In the case of a bullet fired at a precisely vertical angle (something extremely difficult for a human being to duplicate), the bullet would tumble, lose its spin, and fall at a much slower speed due to terminal velocity and is therefore rendered less than lethal on impact. However, if a bullet is fired upward at a non-vertical angle (a far more probable possibility), it will maintain its spin and will reach a high enough speed to be lethal on impact. Because of this potentiality, firing a gun into the air is illegal in most states, and even in the states that it is legal, it is not recommended by the police. Also the MythBusters were able to identify two people who had been injured by falling bullets, one of them fatally injured. To date, this is the only myth to receive all three ratings at the same time.

      Well I appreciate it smiley1.gif

Ooh, plasma physics sounds so high-tech and futuristic. I bet it's not really, but it sounds good.

You know, I think it might be something to do with what happened when I left roosterteeth, it was about that time that I changed my Deviant Art name. I tend to forget things like that though, the reasons behind the things that annoy me.

My sister always used to call me Mister Rossy after Mr. Rossi, and I've occasionally been called it by female friends from time to time, so that's where "something rossy" came from for my e-mail, and it's fine if you want to call me that, Faith does occasionally.

I know what you mean, I think of Miss Zahrah as Zahrah even though that's not her real name (although she prefers not to use her real name on the site so that's partly why) and of course Faith prefers to go by Faith than her real name.

      Re. LotR: Ah, I see.

      Heh, nice work :D

      Thanks, I'll pass that on.

      GAH! I remember this! *hides*

Big Bad I Said No! was the one I found scary when I was a kid too smiley4.gif that and the Sit-Downs. They were kind of creepy.

I don't think I've ever refered to you as "Doc" (I may have, but I don't think so - appologies if I have). "Doc Ross" and most often the full "DocRossim" yeah, but not just "Doc", mainly as people sometimes refer to Feyd as "Doctor Rob" at times, which can me shortened to "Doc" in conversations, and that would just get confusing!

I do, however find it tricky to think of you as just "Ross" for some reason. I shall put more effort into that in the furture though :)

Is Rob a doctor?... I did not know this. I do not know why I did not know this.

If you're referring to me on the site then "DocRossim" is fine but in conversation or as a nickname I'm starting to find "Doc" to be more an more irritating. I can't really place why but it just grates on me for some reason, so I'd appreciate it if you just used Ross. I have always said "call me Ross" and tried to call other people by their first names and signed things as "best wishes, - Ross" so it surprises me how many people have said "I think of you as Doc".

While I've got too much stuff here on my R.T. page to want to change, I am thinking of changing my Youtube name to something else though -- I might perhaps make a seperate page for stuff that's entirely mine and call it "Ross Originals". I've been thinking of dabbling in drawn animation.

      Anyway...

Well, I can relate to that one...

      I know.
      Thanks. smiley1.gif

As for LotRo, it's not because of the lord of the rings thing, more just because it's a good game that's free to play.

I see. So it doesn't follow the standard storyline then?

Yeah, but I don't talk to that guy anymore. It wasn't particularly malicious, just not the best thing to write in the circumstance, I think Maria found it kind of funny in a way. I probably took it harder 'cause I'm, well, you know, "shy"/"sensetive"/whatever.

Probably not Lord of The Rings.

      - Posted photo of myself
      - Posted photo of Maria (a friend from D.A.) wearing the "Donuts" t-shirt I made on Spreadshirt (which she said I could use)
      - Got comments on pic of me that made me feel self conscious.
      - Got a comment on said pic of Maria that I found to be offensive to her.
      - Took down pictures.
      - Posted angry-face chalk board alphabet picture for my profile pic. The style was a reference to the music video for "Ultrasound".

V cool armour *wants a set*

I have to admit, the screenshots from Rift look pretty darn impressive, it's the first MMO I've been tempted to maybe possibly in the future sometime play.

Hi. All good here* - the saga of life in the household continue to develop its melodrama of epic proportions, but I think that it is actually gradually calming down.
