For Extra Life this year, I will be DM'ing a meatgrinder session of Dungeons & Dragons (5th Ed). For those who haven't heard of a meatgrinder session, basically it is D&D on 'hard mode'. D&D meets Dark Souls. D&D where you will die! Let me know if you'd like to join!
For this session, I will be hosting a rotating party of four adventurers (all starting at lvl 7), who have taken the call of adventure. If a character goes down, they start rolling death saves, unlike normal 5e rules, these death saves do not reset when the player is healed. After 3 death failures, POOF!, that character is dead! When one party member dies, they are replaced by the next player in line with a new character.
The game will be taking place in person and online. I will have a microphone and webcam set up for the local game table and will be using Skype to run a video call for all online players. We will be streaming this on the SideQuest twitch stream as well! (www.twitch.com/SideQuestCharity) The first players will be scheduled to start around 5pm on Nov. 4th, and run to about 10pm (or shorter if the players do amazing).
Since this is during Extra Life weekend, there will be some ways to donate to help (or hurt) the players involved:
- $5 - Character rolls with Disadvantage (DM decides when)
- $10 - Character decides when DM will roll with disadvantage
- $20 - Reset a character's death saves.
Head to my Extra Life page to help donate to the game and the Dell Children's Hospital.
