Yeah, that's right. I'm that old now. And I feel like it too...

It's been a while since I last wrote a journal here (looks like more than 3 months ago...) so there's probably more to this one than just talking about how old I am now. Anyway I guess I just needed something to push me into writing a new entry so here it is.

The last three months have been, for the lack of a better word, quite boring. Of course there's been a lot of stuff I've had to do regarding my work and school but it feels like every day has been almost exactly like the day before. But now school's out and I have only one more exam left which means soon I will have time to do whatever I want to do. Still the past few months have been rewarding in a different way, it feels like I've learned to settle for less and taking my time with things I'm not sure about. It sometimes feels like I don't have the patience required to do things properly but at least now I'm getting somewhere. Altho' my patience is running out with my work 'cause I've had to put up with some serious shit from my superiors. And it's not like I'm the only one. But luckily now I'm getting a new supervisor which means no more bullshit from the old one. And the new guy seems like a really cool dude so hopefully everything will turn out fine.

Also it looks like I might finally get to go somewhere 'cause at last there's enough time for me and my friend to organize a trip. We're not set on the location yet so feel free to throw some ideas my way. =D

It's hard to think of anything else to share here but it would be fun to chat some time with all of you.

So until next time.. stay safe and happy!

      Hey everybody!

I guess it's been a while since I last wrote a journal. Life's been pretty crazy since then. I've been working almost 40 hours a week for the past two and a half months and I've had a lot of exams and other stuff as well. I guess the "real life" isn't always as easy as you could hope. But now I can finally catch my breath and take it easy, at least for a few weeks. Altho' the new place could use a little renovation so maybe I'll use my free time to get something useful done.

Also my stress levels seem dangerously low since I've spent most of this past week sleeping and reading comics. And it seems that I've lost all will to make myself something to eat so if I ever happen to crawl out of my cave it's only to get some chow. But I guess that as long as it's temporary it's not dangerous to be too lazy to eat.

I guess that's all for now since this typing is draining too much energy.
Let me know how you've been!

Ps. My watchlist has grown fat since I last checked it so it's gonna take a while to go through everything but I assure you, even if I won't leave a comment I will definitely read everything you've written while I was gone.

      Take it easy

      Hello, folks!
It's been a while since I last wrote a journal but in my defence I have to say things have been quite hectic for the last couple of weeks. I've had a bunch of papers to write, a stack of books I should've read and my first exam (which was yesterday) Now things are starting to ease up, at least for a little while. So I'm leaving you with a few updates about what's been going on with me and the world.

As some of you already know, I'm moving out in just a week to live on my own. Even tho' this decision was made rather hastily I do think it is the right one, since I've needed some peace and quiet and a place where I can be just by myself for a long time now. It's gonna be difficult to manage paying for school and the rent but I think I can handle it. Altho' it might mean I'm gonna have to find a new job since my current job is a temporary one and will probably be over by the end of next month. There's still a lot of stuff to do and I'm probably gonna have to buy at least a hotplate or alternatively a small stove and an oven (since the only thing already in the apartment is a fridge), a bed, a tv and probably a washing machine as well. All of those cost a lot of money so if you guys have any extra cash just lying around you can send it to me if you want to. smiley6.gif

I'm also gonna have a housewarming party soon so if any of you happen to wander in this corner of the world you're welcome to join the party.
And if you have any good ideas for drinks or food I'm more than happy to hear your suggestions! smiley1.gif

I've been using most of my time to study for the exam but I've had a few spare hours to watch a British tv-show called Skins.
And in my opinion it's one of the best shows I've seen this past year, along with Firefly, of course.
The show's about a group of teenagers that struggle with pretty normal issues so it should be easy to idenfity with at least one of them.
I'm not gonna spoil it so go see for yourselves what it's about! smiley8.gif

Okay, I know you're all very excited about the new Halo game, which, of course, I'm waiting with anticipation as well, but I just this morning noticed something that's even bigger news for me. BioWare is apparently making a new Star Wars MMO based on the same universe as Knights of the Old Republic! This is huge news for me since I kind of lost my hope to the series after KOTOR II. The MMO is supposed to happen 300 years after the events of KOTOR I & II. There is a war brewing between the Old Republic and The Sith Empire, which has emerged from the fringes of the galaxy conquering the Outer Rim systems and you're about to step into the shoes of either a Jedi or a Sith warrior. Just so you know, I'm pretty excited about this. smiley4.gif
      Go check it out here!

I guess that's all the news I have for you right now so take it easy and hopefully we can chat sometimes!

I guess it's time for another journal. What fun.

Okay, so school started a few weeks ago and so far it's been pretty laid-back. No essays or such yet. But they'll come soon. You can count on it. I also have a new job and I usually do it before school 'cause some of the classes are in the evening. My job's doing this pointless survey thingy in a department store. But I get paid for just standing around and handing these little survey booklets to people. And the shifts are just four hours long, which is nice compared to the nine and a half hours I had earlier. Besides I don't have to work at night so no more losing any precious sleeping time. smiley6.gif

I've made some new friends at school which is really nice and we even went clubbing last Wednesday. I stayed up until 5 am that night so it was very difficult to get up for school the next day. We were also planning to go on a cruise together, just for a few days tho'. But we weren't yet sure how many people would be interested in that so it's not at all certain if it'll happen. But I'm hoping for the best. However I'm probably gonna take a trip later this year if I can get enough money. Just have to work hard until then. I was thinking London might be nice, or anywhere in the UK for that matter. My mom just got back from there and she said everyone was very polite and nice towards foreigners. I haven't talked to her much about the trip but it seems that everything went smoothly.

Okay, what other stuff? I saw The Dark Knight again about a week ago and it never seizes to amaze me how good it is. I noticed myself mouthing Joker's lines when he was talking to Harvey Dent in the hospital. I think it made the guy sitting next to me chuckle a little bit. Or maybe he was just having a hard time swallowing a half a pound of popcorn all at once. smiley0.gif I also finally picked myself a copy of Watchmen. And I gotta say that's one of the best comics I've ever read. I like the art a little better than V for Vendetta's but the story in V is a bit more intriguing. Or maybe it's just the setting 'cause they've used New York in so many other comics.

      Okay, I guess that's all. smiley8.gif
Hopefully everyone's having a good weekend!!

You probably know when going to a restaurant and trying to decide what to eat you always end up with the same steak and fries 'cause you know you can't go wrong with that. This thread might help you to decide to have something different but still just as delicious the next time you eat out. Post your favorite dishes and try to describe them with a few words. You can also tell something about foods you avoid when eating out.

      Pento88

That's funny. I didn't see this happening any time soon. smiley6.gif
But, yeah, here I am. Karma level 40. Now I do indeed have more Karma than I know what to do with.
But I think I do feel a bit more enlightened than a few minutes ago when my level was 39.

Anyway I guess it's just a good excuse for one of my pointless journals. smiley0.gif
Who am I kidding? I know you love them. smiley0.gif

But I actually do have some news for you. I'm taking some university courses this year (even tho' I'm not actually in a university) but it's gonna make it easier to start studying next year and it will also be easier to get into a university. I just have no idea what I want to study so I'm taking some random courses in psychology and such. The bad news is that I probably can't move out until next year 'cause the studies are somewhat expensive and there's no way I can afford a place on my own so I'll have to wait until my friend gets out of the army and maybe we can share an apartment. But that's almost six months from now...

I'd prefer to just travel this year and not be tied down to anything but I have to earn some money for that first. So I'll have to try and save some of my pay for traveling. Maybe next summer I'll actually get to go somewhere. We talked about going to Japan with a few friends but it's not yet certain. But I guess I could travel by myself as well since I'd like to meet new people from all over the world.

Also I'm probably gonna keep only about 30 people on my friend list since I don't have enough time to talk to everyone. So if you want to stay there be active and leave a comment every now and then! smiley8.gif

Good thing BioWare isn't afraid to try new stuff even tho' they already have so many popular RPG series.

As you can probably notice from the title I finally got to see "Dark Knight". Today was the opening night here so of course I had to buy the tickets almost a week in advance so I could get decent seats. But it was so worth the wait. Even tho' it seems a bit unfair that we have to wait for a week after the opening night in the US. Altho' today was my brother's birthday so it was also a good thing that it was not until now that we could go see the movie.

And now to the movie itself... Yeah, the whole thing blew our minds away. Aaron Eckhart was nothing less than perfect as the Two-Face. Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine were as classy as always. And I think they've finally found the right guy to play Batman. BUT, as you've probably heard too many times already, it was the Joker's movie. I have to say that in my opinion Heath Ledger played the best role ever. I mean if I had to pick the best movie character of all times in movie history it would be Heath Ledger's Joker. He was so convincing as the classic madman but also had so much to add to the character. So this journal is dedicated to him for making me feel a bit of the Joker's madness and seeing the world from his point of view. It was a funny feeling indeed to enjoy such madness and still be afraid of it at the same time. Of course it was not all his doing (the make-up and costumes were the best I've ever seen) but still I believe that no one else could've been such a convincing Joker as he was. I wish he could've seen the fruits of his labor. A real shame...

Other things that caught my attention in the movie were, for example, how well it was built on a comic based story. And how well the director could fit the plotline into multiple comic arcs really surprised me. What I really liked was Harvey Dent's downfall and transformation into Two-Face. At the beginning Aaron Eckhart really gets across that picture of a righteous servant of the law that is afterwards turned into a desperate man seeking vengeange and justice for himself but also some consolement to his grief. He really did remind me of the Batman/Bruce Wayne depicted in "Batman Begins". Altho' his end was a little less fortunate.

I guess that's all I have for now since it's getting kinda late and I need to catch some sleep...but go see "Dark Knight" if you haven't!!! And if you have, go see it again!!!

You guys can't believe what happened today (okay maybe you can)
My plan was to go and loan a car from our grandparents so we could take a family trip tomorrow (no, we don't have a car). So I got on the train and my grandparents came to pick me up from the station. And just when I'm getting ready to take the car back home my aunt calls me and says that she has an "extra" ticket to Bruce Springsteen and the E street band's gig at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. Guess who almost got a stroke??
I'd been dreaming of seeing them play live since their gig was first announced. Only problem was that I was almost 200 clicks away from home. Only way to reach them in time: pedal to the metal. I drove like a maniac. I was almost run over by two big trucks and squished by a pair of minivans who refused to give way. But I made it. The feeling I had when I marched towards the stadium, hearing them warming up and when I got to my seat: magnificent. Some 30 000 people singing along "Badlands" or "Dancing in the Dark", what a great feeling. I couldn't have believed it if someone had told me a week ago I'd be standing there, clapping my hands 'til they're numb, screaming 'til I can't even make a sound anymore and singing the songs I grew up listening.

It's funny how the world somehow hands you an unexpected opportunity.
I feel so lucky I got to see them. The fun they seem to have playing to people is the best.
It makes it even more delightful to watch and listen. And when it came out of the blue!
Nothing can describe my current state of mind except this smiley4.gif

Okay, hopefully the same sort of thing happens to all of you someday!
      Have a happy weekend!

This is just a quick one.

The thing is I'm having a party for all my friends and I have to figure out what drinks I'm gonna serve. And as a simple beer drinker I'm not a real expert on that matter so I would like to know what kinda drinks you like to drink.

The poll is just optional. If you have any other suggestions please leave them as a comment.

      Thank you! ^__^

Natal's got me scared. It's innovative but the hardcore gamer inside me doesn't like what might happen if Microsoft has every developer feature natal in every damn game like nintendo did with the Wii. make it an option, not a requirement. Halo 1 was the only solid halo franchise game that was any good. Bungie lost the ball with 2 and 3. The teasers and trailers of ODST [Recon] and Reach show nothings changed. Just updated smell-a-vision. Like Resident Evil 5, probably won't even rent it.
