Well i canceled the contest, over the last week only 2 people even tried to enter and they both missed the part where the quote has to be from before 500 A.D.

Anyway, like i said before I'm leaving (thus the TNG reference i've been wanting to use for a wile in the title.) It was fun, though i never really got to know any of you or visa versa. I leaned some funny things while i was here... Anyway, be well, do well, sleep well, and please somebody, ready a book not written by clancy, king or rowling, you have no idea what you're all missing.

      Orpheus.
      Orpheus is a musician from ancient ancient Greek mythology and, besides parts and pieces found by chance his story is been mostly lost. SO here's the competition;

I have a picture in my image bay of Orpheus which happens to be one of only three without a quote attached to it and I simply can't let that continue on. So the person to find me the best Quote by/or of Orpheus thats from BEFORE 500 A.D will win 50 mods, and will have their quote attached to the image in my bay.

I'll have my winner picked in one week.

I'd advise brief quotes not much more then a sentence or two as the amount of space for image quotations is limited.

Good luck, don't lose your head over it, and five mods to the first person to explain the reference in this sentence.

EDIT This will be my last competition, as I'm leaving RvB as of this comeing sunday. My remaining mods will go to Shalimar13 and monkey_god24. I had fun and all but college is comein' up plus i'm just spending more time here then i really should. Anyway be well, do well, sleep well.

First off I have a contest going on in the prior journal.

      Now then, happy september 11th...
I know people like sticking these corny pictures up on their profiles of a pair of bright lights photo-shoped into the shape of the twins or flashy pictures of the towers that would barley be wroth a post card in any other circumstance, out of some over-romanticized concept of remembrance, but I'm telling you, as a NewYorker, Stop.

Speaking on behalf of any Newyorker living in the Tri-state area those, buildings were fucking ugly and we could of cared less about them the moment they were removed from their top spot as worlds tallest. And Having pictures of them cheapens the real tragedy; the hideous death of 1500 innocent people and the hundreds more poisoned in the aftermath.

It's simply foolish to claim that the buildings are a symbol of all that that has a happened, if you want an image chose something humanizing, liberty has it's lady, our founding has it's fathers, even our states each have a proud star they can each call their own. I beg, just chose something more then an over-sized pair of colorless glass monolith.

So, to the men women and many children on this site, show the pictures of your family members that died in the attack, or the pictures of those that died from the pursuing war, or those still risking their lives that war.
Cry, not for metal and rock, but spilt blood, over the lost heros, over the people! But don't think for a second that a pair of grey bricks are anything more then cheap and easy ploys for political heart-string pulling.

I'm a Jew, and as a Jew I demand you laugh at these...

      1. The optimist sees the bagel, the pessimist sees the hole.
      2. If you can't say something nice, say it in Yiddish.
      3. If it tastes good, it's probably not kosher.
      4. Why spoil a good meal with a big tip?
      5. WASPs leave and never say good-bye. Jews say good-bye and never leave.
      6. Twenty percent off is a bargain; fifty percent off is a mitzvah.
      7. Remember, even Sandy Koufax didn't play ball on Yom Kippur.
      8. Israelis the land of milk and honey; Florida is the lan d of milk
      of magnesia.
      9. Never pay retail.
      10. No one leaves a Jewish wedding hungry; but then again, no one leaves with a hangover.
      11. And what's so wrong with dry turkey?
      12. Always leave a little room for the Viennese table.
      13. Always whisper the names of diseases.
      14. If you don't eat, it will kill me.
      15. Anything worth saying is worth repeating a thousand times.
      16. The two most important words to know in any language -- "On sale."
      17. Where there's smoke, there may be smoked salmon.
      18. Never take a front row seat at a bris.
      19. Prune Danish is definitely an acquired taste.
      20. Next year in Jerusalem. The year after that -- how about a nice cruise?
      21. Important Jewish holidays are the ones on which alternate-side-of-the-street parking is suspended.
      22. A shmata is a dress that your husband's ex is wearing.
      23. Without Jewish mothers, who would need therapy?
      24. Before you read the menu, read the prices.
      25. There comes a time in every man's life when he must stand up and tell his mother he's an adult. This usually happens around age 45.
      26. Tsuris is a Yiddish word that means your child is marrying someone whose father is a brick layer.
      27. No meal is complete without leftovers.
      28. What business is a yente in? Yours.
      29. If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it. But if you can afford it, make sure you tell everybody what you paid.
      30. Prozac is like chicken soup; it doesn't cure anything, but it makes you feel better.
      31. Laugh now, but one day you'll be driving a big fat bastard Cadillac and eating dinner at four in the afternoon.
      32. Schmeer today, gone tomorrow.

Well, for the few who watch, I have a time waister for you:
Every one post a single picture of the person (Both human and real) who they most admire.
What you admire them for can be anything, their style, their intelligence, their creations or inventions, or what have you. Just try to post a nice picture, and only ONE picture, and give the reason why you chose them.
(Pictures of family are fine by me)

      Well heres mine...
      stewart%20with%20shake.jpg
Yeah I know he's an easy choice but never in my life have I seen a man express a view and argue against someone else's with such tact, understanding, and common courtesy.

So, first off thanks to the guys who were/are now, watching me.

Now then, theres been an old debate bouncing around my mind recently, about the slogan that the southern confederate flag is "Heritage, not hate."

Personally I think saying the confederate flag is the heritage of south is like saying the swastika is heritage of a time of great
economic growth in Germany, in that it's true, but theres also a lot of other stuff attached to it to that can't be removed.

So I want your opinions, your views on the subject, what do you all have to say?
