Well, it had to happen eventually. I was banking on a brown christmas season, but that dream came crashing (okay, gently floating) down today. A twenty minute drive to work turned into an hour and 15 minutes.

      *sigh*

Just watched the cinematic trailer for BioShock Infinite today. I haven't played the first two (okay, I played BS1 for about all of ten minutes, and decided it wasn't for me). Somehow, Infinite speaks to me. Looking forward to it.

I've been devouring the back catalogue of the Drunk Tank, and have loved it. I wasn't really switched into the founders as people, I was just happy to watch the RvB videos. Hell, these guys almost have me buying a 360 (the PS3 would still stay though).

Just heard about BSG: Blood and Chrome: I just about had some sort of nerd aneurysm.

Still counting days until Tron LEGACY.

Looking forward to the RT app for iPhone.

I started subscribing to the Drunk Tank pod. Working my way through the back catalogue, and it's awesome, so I figured I'd stop by, post for one in a bazillion years.

      So... yeah.

      And I'm spent.

It was supposed to be a really long day. I worked, met up with a friend of mine to see The Hurt Locker, and then I was supposed to go ride-along with my buddy Steve The South African Death Machine.

Work: I sell tactical gear to to the local law enforcement community. If that's the worst part of my day, life is pretty fuckin' good, if you'll excuse the language. Seriously.

Went with another friend of mine, Clay The Kept Man to see the hurt locker. Good flick, definitely character driven, and some outstanding performances. Jeremy Renner did a really nice job of the lead part. Best of all, no politics; just a movie about guys doing what they do.

Was prepared to go with Steve until the end of his shift at 0300, but just as I was dropping off Clay, he called to say he'd tased some dickhead, and would be spending the rest of his shift filling out Use Of Force paperwork.

      Dammit.

Is it just me, or did a couple of the guys pick up CIRAS-Ls and Ms?

In an unprecedented fit of logical thinking, our chain of command's authorized us to get pretty much any gear we want, as long as it works for us -- so yeah, plate carriers, chest rigs, and belts galore. Safety equipment still has to be the issued stuff, though.

The heading for the blog is:

"Have you told your Mac that you love it lately?"

I thought it was a good one, but UpCharles keeps knitpicking me about the "correct german verbage"

it's a joke, but a good one. I used the built in language translator in the dashboard.

HAHAHA. I do like the VLTOR as well... it runs from the rear sight to the front sight and I find it's a very stable platform.

I personally own a British SLR (FN/FAL variant) and DS Arms now makes/sells rail systems for it. I have to do some more research. My machinist friend machined down the barrel to the legal limit so it's really a 7.62 (NATO) carbine.

Oh, and my computer now lets me see your PJ rig pics. Verrrrryyy coooool. smiley0.gif

Hey bud, not sure if you remember me, but I was that little guy planning on joining the Canadian Forces. I haven't been on here in a while, so I thought I'd say hello and let you know that I did make it in. I'm currently doing my SQ and so far I love it. Ttyl man.

Actually, I bought the Radars... the arms lie flat against my temples, vice the raised swooping shape of the traditional Oakleys. They make a Flak Jacket (the Radar modification of the Half-Jackets) that I want to pick up. They're rated for ballistic and explosive protection... and of course they've got that Cool Guy Factore of 10. haha.

You could give the postal system a good kicking so it gets me my underarmour and neckseal here. I ordered it a month ago. The guy even sent a replacement after the first got lost but there's no sign of it. Grrr it's all I need!

And I HATE the female trooper armour. It looks ridiculous.

I'm gonna start saving for another, more accurate armour set too. I'm going to dirty my current one up and go sandtrooper :D

I figured you might have heard of them already. Personally, I'm sorta clumsy, so streamlined works really well for me in everything I put my mitts on.

Of course, I also don't handle firearms in a professional/regular capacity, but I'm a firm believer in comfort over fashion...

Good eye, bro. It's actually the Mk-45... just the Navy-fied version of the M60 E3. Shortened barrel, picatinny rail system for optics and VAS gear and some other modifications. Developed by the SEALs and kinda filtered down to us.

This pic was taken during our Final Evaluation Phase in prep for the sandbox. THose of us not on the 3-man team being evaluated got to play "security" in our full mission profiles, so I thought I'd just grab the biggest gun in our inventory (man-portable) and "assign" myself to cover my buddy Gil during the evaluation. I'm about 6' and Gil is 5'5, so it was amusing for the evaluators when I jumped out of my Hummer with the Mk-45 to provide security for Gil; the smallest guy on our Detachment. HAHA
