      Ok, I'm forced to comment.

      First, Ed McMahon.

      Then, Farah Fawcett.

      THEN, Michael Jackson.

And now, Billy Mays has died.

What the hell is going on, people?

Just a couple of books I've read in the last week that I highly recommend (I had to spell check that two times before I got it right).

Survivor - Written by the same guy who wrote Fight Club (seen the movie, haven't read the book, though). A tip: don't be an idiot and read this on a plane like I did.

Neverwhere - It's an older book by Gaiman, but I somehow missed it until recently. Good stuff. The scenes with Croup and Vandemar are worth it in themselves. (It's not as good as American Gods, if you've read it, but it's not far off)

I think the toaster just went off.

That I have a really inconsistent network of usernames.

Maybe I'm a little nuts for feeling so, but I have this thing about ID's that they should somehow be germane to who you are as an individual; the issue is that, usually, there are about 4,000 other people who have the exact same characteristics, interests and hobbies as you do, and in all likelihood, they've all registered on the site before you have and taken all your ideas for a username, reducing you to slapping your zip code on the end of your handle, which increases your ID's stupidity exponentially by whatever number comes after it (Sucks to be you, iheartsasuke9873).

This reduces one (i.e. me) to then venture to the creative end of ID's, which usually ends up being nothing more than intentionally misspelling a term to seem "clever", only to wind up utterly despising it years after making it with no way to change it, often leaving yourself wishing that you could travel back in time and throttle yourself for ever even thinking of such an idiotic thing (or in my case, stealing such an idiotic thing from a friend, who stopped using it himself for a good fucking reason).

And so it goes, from site to site, forum to forum, email account to email account. And finally, when you actually do stumble on something that's uniquely you (and that you still like the next day), it's too late, and your stuck with the 200 other stupid names you came up on all your other sites, none of which are even remotely linked to one other in any meaningful way. The urge to use a power tool in an irresponsible fashion suddenly becomes increasingly appealing.

At least that's how I feel.

You know the whole second profile thing I mentioned a while back?

      Fuck it.

Too much history tied to this account to jump ship now (compounded with the fact that I'm just too damn lazy to start over again). Besides, it's not so bad here once you get back into it, not to mention that the drapery matches my carpet.

As some of you may or may not know (I would probably go with don't since I don't ever remember mentioning it before), I'm going to art school in Sarasota.

      This is the place.

Anyway, my original plan for that second account was as a storage place for some of the stuff I throw together in my spare time (a quasi-gallery of bullshit, I suppose). I think it'll fit in here with the rest of my crap nicely, though.

I think this is the longest journal I've done in maybe half a year. What a sad statement about my commitment here. /random tangent

Wrapping this up, some random art dumpage may occur now and then. Feel free to explore when it does.

On a final note, I'm probably the last person on the face of the Earth to discover this (as usual), but my roommate introduced me to Picnicface a couple of weeks ago. I'd seen the Powerthirst stuff before, but I hadn't really looked into any of their other stuff.

If nothing else, check out this and this. Good stuff.

Alright, a couple a quick updates here to pass the time.

      1) I've now got a second account on the site which I'll start keeping more regularly, so hit up my appropriately named stunt double account if you can; it even has it's own gamertag.

      2) My apologies for not being more regular around here. I haven't forgotten you all; I just haven't had the time lately.

      3) Shoop-da-woop.

I read that it was still called Missouri Southern State University on wiki. Someone needs to update that crap.

I don't really know why I chose Missouri, it just seemed right in the heart on the country. Joplin just seemed like some everyday hometown. Any insight into that?

To be honest, I think I've only been to Missouri once...

I doubt you'd be able to hold the controller, let alone play properly! Not until the initial effects subsided, that is. That'd be pretty fun actually, now that I think about it.

      Is she good at everything?

I'm seriously wondering the same thing. She kicks our asses at Wii Sports, always has the highest score in real bowling... The only thing I've seen her not do incredibly well at is Guitar Hero, and it's only because she doesn't play it nearly as often as anyone else I hang out with. But she's still already on medium, and doing halfway well on it.

So she's not great at it, but she's improving much quicker than I did. Pretty much she's better at everything than everyone else. smiley2.gif

    • wizardmon5

Yeah well. Like I say, I guess I'm content to be her friend, for the time being. I really can't see this 1.25-hour relationship working, especially since she sometimes goes a couple weeks without going home.

    • wizardmon5

Well like three days after I met her is when she said yes to him, so I didn't really have much of a chance. And it's not as if I can expect to tell her how I feel and have her choose me over him. She's known him for four years.

    • wizardmon5

Also, she kind of has a boyfriend.

I guess, through high school, her one friend always wanted to go out with her, and, now that she's moved 1.25 hours away for college, she said yes for some reason. Their first date was on Friday, and I guess she said it went well.

I'm still hanging out with her a bunch, though. I guess I'm content to be her friend for now.

Why do I have such horrible luck in this area?
