I was reading a book by Tim LaHaye recently called Revelations Unveiled for a research paper, and he started talking about corruptions that have come into the church in the time of the church of Thyatira(and that's an entirely different discussion), but I was looking at it and noticed that many are still held by the Catholic church.
What he says is an abbreviated list of the corruptions:
Worship of saints and angels
Worship of Mary
Priests dressing differently than Laypeople
Worship services in Latin
Praying to Mary
Hierarchy of the church(bishops, cardinals, the pope)
Kissing of the popes foot
Worshiping images and relics
Use of "holy water"
Canonization of dead saints
Fasting on Fridays during Lent
Celibacy of the Priesthood
Bible forbidden to laypeople
Tradition granted equal authority with the Bible
The Apocryphal books
The immaculate conception of Mary
Infallibility of the pope
I know that many of these have been fixed and many aren't very big deals, but I've put the ones that i really don't understand in bold. It seems none of them have Bibical basis, and many of them seem to hinder the church more than help it.
Just wondering if there are any people that know more about the Catholic history than me that could help clear this up.
