Cutting to the chase, I was born and raised Southern Baptist. For non-Christians, I'll summarize what this means. We have services Sunday morning and evening, as well as Wednesday evening. We eat fried chicken every Wednesday in the fellowship hall, We believe that God is the triumvirate God (The Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and that there are no other Gods. We believe in a literal heaven and hell, and that salvation is through Jesus' death on the cross alone. on social topics, we we view drinking alcohol is a sin (even though the Bible doesn't say so), premarital sex is a sin, homosexuality is a sin, dancing...while not a sin probably isn't a good idea and pornography is a sin. We do believe that once you're saved, you can't lose salvation. We hold to priesthood of the believer which means that God talks directly to you, and you don't have to go through a priest or other medium to be able to communicate with God. Generally, we believe that men and women have separate rolls, and women are not allowed to preach...but they can teach and lead music. While there is much more to it than that, I'm trying to make this as relevant and understandable as possible.

So now we come to this election for President. Southern Baptists are statistically right leaning, and so Romney seems to be lining up to be the Presidential candidate that people like me are going to be voting for. (fun fact- Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and Al Gore all professed to be Southern Baptist but severed ties at some point during their political career.)

And now to the elephant in the room: Mormonism. While those on the outside of Christianity may view Mormonism as a denomination (different branch of the same thing) of Christianity, but it is not. Mormonism holds very different theological beliefs, especially in regard to who Jesus is, salvation, and the roll of the Church. They are not mutually compatible religions.

Barrack Obama maintains that he is a member of a Church of Christ church. While there are some theological disagreements I have with them, I would consider them a denomination of Christianity, and despite some people I know, I won't doubt his statement that he is a Christian.

Ok, now we get to my point- When voting for a President, do you vote for the person who aligns with you ideologically, or the person who shares a theological background with you? If you are a 'Bible-believing" Christian, what is the the most important aspect of a person's character?

Mitt Romney- Right-Wing Big Business Idolater
Barrack Obama- Left-Wing Socialist Believer in Jesus

(Honestly, I do have a tough time with this.)

DarthOrignialPost- "Mace Windu's Purple Lightsaber was awesome!!"

Darthhastoberight- "Actually, it was Lapis, and not Purple"

      DarthContrary- "Lapis is purple!"

DarthHastoberight- "Actually no its not, if you look at the wikipedia article on the color wheel, its on the purple side, but it still is its not purple, it's purpleish!"

DarthContrary- "But Purpleish still means purple, and besides it's George Lucas' favorite."

DarthHastoberight- "How would you know that George Lucas likes Purple? According to the Gamehammer magazine, 1985 he specifically stated that Blue was his favorite color"

DarthContrary- "Again, Blue is part of the color combination to make purple. If you look at what happens when you combine Darth Vader and Anakin's Lightsaber you get purple. It is a symbol of the internal conflict of the auther, he feels like he walks both a dark and a light path

      DarthGrammarpolice- "You spelled author wrong."

Darthofftopic- "I had a cat once. It died. I like Jam"

DarthTroll- "color's sux- Jedi rox!!! ps join my guild."

      Darthhasnothingbettertosay- "I'm colorblind."

So I'm listening to the old podcast while working on a spreadsheet at work (bitches love spreadsheets.) They're talking about anticipating Mass Effect 2, getting to play Modern Warfare 2 an new announcements regarding The Old Republic. Its interesting to hear; Burnie initially doesn't understand Mass Effect, (he also didn't understand how to fire more than once in Fallout 3) and he's unsure as to whether or not the quest givers in TOR will be cut-scenes or just dialogue. Knowing what we know now, it's a blast to see how brazenly they look toward the future.

      Well, breaks over...back to spreadsheets.

23 days until my daughter's due date. Though 5% of babies are actually born on time, it is still a good road marker. I know I'm prepared to be a father, I've got a great career, I've got a wonderful wife, I've got my faith, and my friends; but it is so weird to think about. It's as if everything prior to this moment has been a preface or just filler, and going forward is my REAL life. I don't worry, necessarily, I just ponder. What will I have to move out of my life to accommodate her? What shortcomings do I have that will adversely affect her? Can I bring my A game every day to fatherhood, knowing that I will fail, but never failing because I give up or in? There are so many things that I'll mess up, but I hope that at the end of the day the things that I get right outweigh those things that I fail at.

And God, let my wife let me teach her to play video games...nothing is cooler than a girl who pwns boys like they're n00bs.

EDIT- Just got a txt from the Wife, 3cm, 80% effaced, baby head down. Any day then.

I used to think at twenty-five that age was really great
I did what I did, I went where I went, I stayed out really late
that upward climb from twenty-nine has hit like a ton of crap
And now I find I drag behind, and could really use a nap.

Wow...gonna have a baby in about 30 days. It's real, but at the same time, it hasn't really sunk in yet. I know I'll be a good dad 99% of the time, I'm just not looking forward to that 1% that I completely fall on my face.

I love the podcast...When they complain about how trailers tell too much of the story, I'm sitting in my cubicle and agreeing with everything they say. I realize that I am, at that point, a grumpy old man. It is like my generation's version of a bunch of crusty old men arguing about the weather, quality of music and the kids on the lawn. It makes me feel like I've progressed past my 20's and I'm not the only one.

      get off my lawn.

I apologize if this has been mentioned before, I did a search, but nothing returned with this. I'm having problems seeing 'some' videos on my iPhone, either by safari or by the app. Two examples- Burnie fights animals...can't see, and Rage Quit eats a spoonful of Cinnamon. Thought it was just me, but a friend is having the issue as well.
