This new health care package that is being pushed forward for passage has a couple things in it I don't like.

      1. There is an exemption written into this bill for all members of Congress. Meaning they will not be penalized with the extra tax you and I will be if we opt out and buy our own insurance (the penalty tax is also written into this bill). No matter how bad things get they will be able to continue with their top of the line health care, funded by us, the tax payers, for the duration of their lives, not just while they serve.

      2. When asked if they would consider allowing themselves, and their families, to be put on that health care package, they consistently said "we will think about it". Want to guess how long that will take to weigh out?

      3. When asked that same qeustion, the president refused to answer. Why?

There is a senator currently pushing forth legislation that will force all members of Congress to go onto this new plan for 2 years to try it out, before the American people are forced to comply or be penalized with the new 7% tax on your income. 100% of the registered Democrats serving flat refused to sign it. 100% of Republicans serving signed it.

I am not saying the Republicans are all doing the right thing, they are as much to blame for this mess as the Democrats are, that bill is purely a partisan grandstanding move, but I find it interesting that one party flat denied it, without a single exception. We all know if it did come to that they Republicans would also fight it tooth and nail.

I think we should start revamping our economy by sending 100% of congress back to the private sector. They should carry no health care with them, they should be forced to do like the rest of us do, earn a living!

None should be allowed to serve more than 2 terms!

Any one of them who says "I don't read those bills because there is no time" should be removed immediately and replaced by someone who is willing to do their job.

Congress should be forced to also live under the exact same rules, regulations, government programs and measures that the American people are.

Just my 2.5 cents this grand morning.

    • Weekend Jon Boat Project

      RBuffordTJ

A weekend of Jon Boat Modification and Fishin'
Friday I started, and completed, Phase 1 of my Jon boat conversion. It is a 12' Aluminum Landau 1256f model. I picked this boat up for $250 off a co-worker, no trailer or motor at first, just the boat. I did end up going back and buying a 9.8hp Nissan that was barely ever used, but more on that later. The inside bottom measures 36" so after reading around the site I was concerned about putting on a deck like my cousin and I felt it needed.

Here is what we started with.
      Boat1.jpg
      Boat2.jpg

Went over to Gander Mountain and picked up a couple boat seats on sale, the colors are what will be on the boat in the end, but for now it is just the seats.
      Boat3.jpg

The first thing I did, while awaiting my cousin/co-fish-slayer, to arrive, was cut a simple deck board to mount the rear seat on. We are using fixed bases with swivle plates, I considered going with the pull off ones but I don't have anywhere to store them so they are going to have to stay on the boat anyway, and this will make a thief have to work a little harder to get them if they want them.
      Boat4.jpg

Now the front seat had to come out, for the mod I had planned. We marked and cut the seat out, removed the foam and left about an inch of metal all the way around to have something to bolt the side boards to. We are considering putting two motorcycle batteries up in them for lighting and live well pump power, but that is still up for discussion. I hate to waste space. In the pictures you will see red lines where we removed metal, and yellow where we left to fold. The front and rear plywood supports were made that way to keep structural integrity.
      Boat5.jpg

      Boat6.jpg

      Boat7.jpg

      Boat8.jpg

      Boat9.jpg

      Boat10.jpg

      Boat11.jpg

Now that this was done, we put foam under the decking we installed in the next couple pics, sorry not to get pics of that but it slipped my mind while we were working.
      Boat12.jpg

      Boat13.jpg

      Boat14.jpg

So this was phase one. It took about 6 hours to complete from start to finish and the next phase will be the middle raised floor, simply built on the ribs, and a possible live well in the front to replace the small (useless) metal shelf that came stock.

We hit the lake with it yesterday morning at 7:00am (ish) and had a good, HOT, day on the lake. Everything worked perfectly and the boat is pretty stable when standing and fishing! My first was pretty quick to come to the boat
      Fish1.jpg

      Steve got one shortly after
      Fish2.jpg

Then the little ones got in on the action
      Fish3.jpg

So all went well. Phase 2 will begin shortly as I have already ordered my Durabak coating for the floors, and this morning I ordered the SteelFlex for the bottom. More pitcures will come as more is done to the boat. What do you think? Want to come fishin' with me?

I was speaking to my uncle on the phone a few minutes ago, and found out my Barber, the man who cuts my hair, and did when I was a little kid here, passed away 2 weeks ago while on vacation in South Carolina. He passed very peacefully in his sleep. sad.png

John had been cutting hair for 50 years as of 2009. He started after serving 6 years in the army, he was a vet and when he got out of the Army said he had to "do something for a living". So he picked up some scissors and went to it. He could cut an awesome flat top. exclamation.png

I don't want to go to a "Hair Salon" to get a haircut.

I don't want to call to "make an appointment".

I don't want to smell flowery stuff and see 1001 special "hair care products" lining the walls around pictures of people with choppy, funky, razored haircuts.

I don't want to look at "hair style" or "Martha Stewart" magazines while I wait.

      *stomps foot*

John's shop was a small white cinder block building, with a Barber pole outside. It has Outdoor Life, Maxim, Newspapers, hunting and fishing magazines laid out to read while you simply WAIT YOUR TURN IN THE CHAIR! There was no 'appointment' to make. The shop smells of talcum powder, menthol and leather. I don't even think they owned a hair dryer!

      sad.png

My life is changing too fast. I am tired of change. I need a static environment. Please Lord, for a little while?

I see our government is hard at work screwing up again. I hope if any of you signed up for this program and took advantage of it you read the ENTIRE contract. Here is an excerpt and the whole thing is linked below....so you know what could easily happen to you.

      Customer understands the following:
      1. Seller will use its best efforts to collect the CARS rebate but does not guarantee Buyer’s eligibility for CARS
      reimbursement.
      2. The federal government has limited funds available to pay CARs incentives and there is a possibility that the
program could run out of money before your rebate is paid for.

      3. The risk of the federal government not paying the rebate is yours â€" not the dealers
If Seller is unable to collect the CARS incentive for any reason whatsoever, Customer agrees to pay the amount of the CARS incentive applied for in cash to the seller immediately but no later than 10 days after notice by the seller.
If Customer fails to cooperate with Seller in pursuing such credit reimbursements or has misrepresented any facts
necessary for qualification under the program, then Customer shall be pay to the seller the CARS incentive in cash
and pay other costs, including without limitation, all legal and collection costs in pursuit thereof.
In the event that Customer’s transaction with Dealer is terminated pursuant to the terms of the paperwork entered into
by Customer and Dealer, you understand that your trade-in vehicle will be destroyed and cannot be returned to you...."

    • Archery Day

      RBuffordTJ

A day at the almost completed archery range.

Today the wife and I dropped out daughter off at a birthday party then went on over to the camp in Apopka and tried out our new/used bows. I used to do this when I was a teenager, and loved it so much, but I sold mine about 17 years ago and have not used one since. I am an old school type archer so I use a recurve and not one of these new compounds. I do not use sights so I shoot instinctive, and today my wife began her traditional archery hobby.

      Upon arrival at the range....
      Archery1.jpg

This is my wife's bow, a Bear Panda 35# draw. It is actually a early 60's model bow with no stress cracks or any marks on it. They are pretty rare, especially in this condition.
      Archery2.jpg

      She did great with it....
      Archery3.jpg

I love this pic, its my new desktop....
      Archery4.jpg

My new bow is a Bear Black Bear, with a 50# pull. Got a great deal on it through Ebay.
      Archery5.jpg

First time in about 17 years I have used a bow....
      Archery6.jpg

It feels great, bow is steady, arrow is set for flight....
      Archery7.jpg

And away it went. It almost hit where I wanted it to, and as we did more I began to group them pretty nicely. I love this stuff!
      Archery8.jpg

Well that is 3 picture journals tonight, more than most of you want I'm sure so I am off to relax a little and enjoy the rest of my evening with my wife.

Tomorrow is my 13th wedding anniversary!

My cousin Steve and I hit the lake to harass the fish a little and I caught 3 good keepers. Caught one brim who went after something much to big for him, and cousin Steve got a couple bass that were much to young to keep. This day was mine I guess.
