Alright, so here’s the odd things which I wanted to give a brief mention earlier:

I’m still figuring out how it happened (I have a few theories) but yesterday, after my shower, my hair was AMAZING. It was soft and fluffy with tighter curls. This is weird because, as much as it suits me, my frizzy-curly hair doesn’t exactly look very good. I’ll spend the next few showers trying to recreate it, because it was fantastic.

On the topic of weird stuff my body is doing, the big toe on my left foot has been getting EXTREMELY itchy lately and scratching it only makes it worse, of course. It looks normal, but if it keeps going on much longer I’m going to go to my GP, shove my foot in front of his face and yell “FIX IT!”

Once again on a bright note, I have started initial planning for another Disney marathon, but let me start from the beginning.
A few months ago I decided that I was going to start stockpiling Disney movies because they can be very difficult to get your hands on, and you never know when you might need one. Anyway, I was in a Vinnies with Stewart when I noticed that a VHS of The Jungle Book was lying around, for 50 cents. FANTASTIBLE! Looking around, I found a section with heaps of them, each 50 cents. Since then I have been on the prowl, and have collected about 50 VHS tapes, not all Disney.
Not wanting this collection to go to waste, I held a Disney marathon a few weeks ago (just after HSC trials finished) where I could hang out with friends and enjoy nostalgia. It was super fun, but we only got through about six or seven, and I wanted more.

It’s not like I could plan for anytime soon after the first one, what with HSC coming up and all, so I’ve put a draft date for mid November to do it again. I’m really excited, it’s really heaps of fun to hang out with a bunch of friends, watch some classic animations and annihilate some junk food.

With all the stuff that I’m looking forward to, it’s been really hard to concentrate on studying, especially since I don’t really care about getting a really good mark. The only reason that I’m trying at all is that my mom will be really upset if I do badly (I’ve already got a few speeches planned for her reaction to my mediocre mark) and I really don’t want her to be sad.
Nikkita (pug-chan.tumblr.com) is incredibly lucky. She’s already been accepted into the creative course which she wants to do next year, so she doesn’t have to do ANY work. That’s so awesome. I want to go into engineering next year, because I find it interesting, but it requires a really good mark (I’ve made some back routes) to get into, and there’s no chance of early acceptance. For me, it’s going to come down to an interview to see if I’m an appropriate student for it, and I hope that they don’t judge too heavily by my marks because, otherwise, I’m good with interviews. Let’s see how it all turns out.

      Bye guys, thanks for reading.

    • Yesterday, and other recent news.

I didn’t make an entry yesterday, but I had a really good excuse: I wasn’t at home. I went to study Business at Stewart’s house. Tomorrow is our first HSC exam, and I’m not even nervous. That’s not necessarily a good thing, it’s not like I’m fully prepared, I just don’t really care how well I do.
For our study breaks, we worked our way through a few episodes of Arrested Development. It was a TV show that was incredimazeballs but got cancelled after three seasons. It just got renewed for another season, and a movie, so I’m stoked about that. We also played Super Smash Bros, which is just straight-up one of the best games of all time.
I only got home past midnight, and I would’ve made a post then anyway except that my computer was off, and I didn’t want to waste half an hour turning it on and then almost immediately off again… it’s a really old computer.

It’s my mom’s birthday today. She is VERY upset with the HSC for scheduling their exams badly because now we can’t go out for dinner. I’m leaving soon for brunch, then it’s back to study for me.

Chris can’t come to Tamboon (YAY TAMBOON!); he’s going with Jackson to Ballina, or Byron. I’m not sure which, he wasn’t very clear. It’s probably for the best though, the fun with be distributed between four people, rather than five. Also, the roadtrips will be MUCH easier.

I’ve got more that I want to talk about, but I have to go now, so I’ll put it all in a post later today.

      Bye guys, thanks for reading.

    • Making lists at the library

I went to the state library to study today with Alice and Johann.
We did about 45 minutes of actual work, then went for lunch.
For me (and Alice) lunch meant a Lindt hot chocolate… and a chocolate eclair.

ALICE HAD NOT EATEN AN ECLAIR IN SIX YEARS!!!

We went back to the library, and did almost 20 full minutes before we were done.
To be fair, we were distracted by our upcoming roadtrip and made a very comprehensive list of stuff to bring.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS TRIP OH MY LORD!

When we got back to the junction, Alice and I met up with Chris for a coffee. He was in the east for Jackson’s 18th, and had some free time. We brought up the trip with him, and he wants to come. Alice and her mom gave their thumbs up, so now it pretty much depends on whether Carla (Chris’ girlfriend) is alright with him going off, which would mean that he would be unable see her off for her trip to Europe.

In other news, Chloe the cat is really starting to relax; especially while I have food. She is currently purring contently on my lap.

My mom sent me a text today while I was at the library. She talked to my English teacher, who told her that I haven’t sent her any work in the last few weeks. I knew that she would be mad, but I’m really good at talking to her and I completely diffused the situation. I got pies for dinner.

      Bye guys, thanks for reading.

I know that I said that I’d be off to study, but there have been some… developments.

      The Avengers trailer was released.

I stated a few posts ago that I was a Whedonite, and that is totally true. I make it an absolute priority to watch anything which Joss is associated with in any way, and the same to all of the Firefly alumni.
Also, I obviously read comic books. I’ve had my fair share of DC, but past Batman (and the animated Teen Titans) I’m not interested with the universe. Marvel, on the other hand, I love, and have deep affection for each of its characters.
Put the prominent Marvel superhero team and Joss Whedon together (he’s directing, no less!), and what do you get?
      My nerdgasm.

I’m actually more excited for The Avengers than I have been for ANYTHING before in my life. Hopefully, there is a “so far” in there somewhere (the Deadpool film seems VERY promising), but for now the statement is true. Come May 4 (or whenever Australia decides to release it) I’ll be the first person in the theatre.

Alright, I guess I’m done for now.

      Bye guys, thanks for reading.

    • IQ tests, roadtrips and pie.

      RDD

One of my friends posted their impressive score of 130 on an online IQ test on facebook. I’ve always been very doubtful of the accuracy of these things, but I figured that I might as well try it out for myself. I used the same website as him (iqtest.dk) to make the results more reliable. I’m not going to post my result here, but it was pretty much what I expected. Still, I’m not necessarily convinced that they are valid, but the test itself seemed good.

So, I was talking to Alice the other day, and along with Beth and Stewart we made some after-school freedom plans. It involves a roadtrip (yay) and nature, and judging by the people coming it’s gonna be awesome. I admit that I may be biased towards our awesomeotude (I know that awesomeotude isn’t a word - it just fits really well) but there’s no way that we won’t have heaps of fun. I also hope that Satchmo ends up coming along; he’d love it.

Exams star on monday. Four days, then three weeks, then freedom of braveheartian proportions. I still haven’t really gotten into full study mode, but I still have time… :~S
Anyway, I guess that I better get back to studying, those essays aren’t gonna modify themselves.

(The pie part in the title was a lie. I have no pie or pie analogies to give you. Sorry)

      Bye guys, thanks for reading.

    • Formal felines, studying.

      RDD

In about a month now I have my school formal. It’s been planned since the beginning of the year, but it hasn’t been on the forefront of my mind. A few people have, throughout the year, asked me who I was going to go with and, since I don’t have a girlfriends, I wasn’t sure. At one point my mom suggested my cousin. Seriously. I was laughing for almost 10 seconds before I realised that she wasn’t joking.
Well, I decided upon asking Alice to be my date (find her at allworldscollide on tumblr) and she said yes, and she’s pretty, so that’s good. HI ALICE!

In other news, my sister has decided that she can’t live with her roommates any longer, and until she can move into her new place she has to come back to stay here. I would have no problem with that, except that she is bringing her cat, which doesn’t get along with my Satchmo. The result? I have Chloe the cat staying in my room, while my sister alternates between the couch here, and staying at her boyfriend’s house. Long story. I can’t have my dog in my room anymore. Balls.

Anyway, I’m off now to a library lock-in, where a bunch of HSC students like myself are in the library till midnight, so study is kind of forced upon us. Cool. They said that they would provide food and drinks, but I’m bringing a bottle of water because, frankly, I don’t trust them. Alright, going now.

      Bye guys, thanks for reading.

    • Eureka, and geek kings

      RDD

I started watching the SciFi series 'Eureka' a few months ago because I heard that in season 4 Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton joined the cast. Them, together, again?!? I knew that I must watch.
That means I was to view 3 seasons of a 40 minute show, on top of my regular schedule, with school and whatnot. Took a while.
Now, Eureka is an extremely highly rated show, and I kept hearing about it in my geek circles, but I wasn't so amazed with it. Sure, the premise is cool, but there were many episodes which didn't impress me.
      Then I reached season 4.
      It was awesome.
Being heavily backlogged, I was able to rush through season 4 in two days where study was all but totally neglected. Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton were absolutely fantastic, and made every second worth it. The season 4 finale had one of the best cliffhangers I've ever seen in my extensive viewing career, and I'm very rarely as excited for a show as I am right now for season 5.

Wil Wheaton is brilliant as performing as a jackass (as so successfully seen through Evil Wil Wheaton in 'The Big Bang Theory') but from what I know of him through the expanses of the internet it seems like he would be one of the absolute coolest people to hang out with, talk some Whedon, play some D&D.

Felicia Day... She is a very special woman. After Dr. Horrible turned me on to her (only the second time watching it did I remember her from Buffy), I segued into 'The Guild', a fantastic webseries she created, about gamers. Season 5 is online now, and features some of the best cameos that I've ever seen. GO WATCH IT!
Anyway, what I want to express is how Felicia is not only an amazingly talented performer, but also very smart with a great sense of humor. As a result, I feel some weird nerd attraction towards her. This doesn't just mean how I feel towards any attractive girl, this is particular... peculiar, perhaps. Its very hard to convey without being shunned as a sick creep. I think Tycho, with his special relationship with words, his "kung fu grip on the english language", expressed it best through "I just want to, like... groom her".
He actually got to at PAX 2008, the lucky bastard.

That's all I've got to say on this topic, so that's that.

      Bye guys, thanks for reading.

    • I'm back :)

      RDD

I know that my initial blogging career on this site was very short, but I was under heavy pressure from school and just didn't have time for putting down my thoughts.
Anyway, as my final exams loom (THEY START ON MONDAY!) I thought that it might relieve my stress a bit if I just took some time each day to write down a bit of what's on my mind. So, I'm back.

Also, every post made here will also be made on my tumblr account "damiansstuffage.tumblr.com" so check that out as well. I'll probably be more active there than here.

      Anyway...

      Bye guys, thanks for reading.

      Dear friends,
In 1997 a group of developers were working towards a simple dream. That dream was to show their passion for the video game industry through the greatest contribution they could possibly form.
This contribution was set back, as they wanted to utilize advancing technologies, and therefore be the best it could be.
New physics engines were written, tested and scrapped, the home console changed as the PS1 was released, then the PS2, the PS3, the Xbox, and the Xbox 360.
Average processing speeds for computers of any kind doubled, then tripled, and so on. It is currently 32x as fast.
Delay after delay, year after year, this dream was set back, seemingly coming so close every time. Many joined and left the development team, boys grew to men, and there were those who believed that this dream would never see the light of day.
      Tomorrow is June 10, 2011.
      Fourteen years later.
Tomorrow, the lives of millions will be changed irrevocably.
Tomorrow, Duke Nukem Forever is released.
      HAIL TO THE KING, BABY!

So I'm replaying Gears of War on Insane difficulty, and here's something I forgot about the game:
General RAAM is ALL KINDS OF MOTHERFUCKER!
On one hand, that does mean that Epic Studios did their job in creating a memorable bad guy, but seriously, that is one ANNOYING boss fight.
Anyway, I had a mate over and we plowed through it, but it took just long enough for me to start yelling at the screen Rage-Quit style.
I'm in the mood now, so I guess I'll replay GOW 2 as well.

      Bye guys, thanks for reading.
