Riga awoke by the smell of flowers, as he had the day before. He walked into the kitchen ready to make breakfast. What he saw in the kitchen however took him by surprise. There in his kitchen sat a man, a dwarf, and an elf. Tumeh strolled in and noticed Riga’s blank expression. “Ah, Riga, come sit with us, for we were about to have breakfast. Who are these people? Why, I guess I should introduce you. The man you see is Blanis, Administrator of Moralas. The dwarf you see here is Grammel, a highly skilled warrior of his people from the Trangleback Mountains. And last, but not the least we have Niofetral, of Darkwood forest.†With that he led Riga to the table where they had their breakfast. After that was done Riga went to his washroom, and took a cold bath. When he exited the washroom, Tumeh came to him. “Riga, please lead me to Grian, your kinsmen and king, so I may counsel him on what is to be done to fuel the war effort.†As if commanded by a spell, Riga led Tumeh and his companions to the mayor’s house. When the mayor opened the door Tumeh spoke. “I am Tumeh, take us to where King Grian presides, for I have urgent business with him. The land you know is no longer safe.†So the mayor led them down through Rockborough, to the borders of the country, where Grian, King of the Gnomes, resided. There, Riga took the lead again. Down he led them, through a long tunnel filled with statues of the heroes that helped keep the land safe back in the dark years. Soon they came to a great, stone gate. Like the crest on Riga’s armor, the door also bore the mark of a lion. The guards at the door, awed them in great wonder, but let them pass, as word got to the king of their arrival. Inside the door, there was a bustle of life. Merchants cried out to people to buy their latest product. People went to and fro bartering their crop’s products, in a hope they could get supplies with it. Guards patrolled the streets, settling the thieves, and mishaps that broke out now and again. After many twists and turns around buildings, they came at last to the palace, where King Grian, son of Siian. The palace was a great dome, with gold lining the edges. Once inside the hall, in golden statues, the kings of old stood with a ready knife, for any who would defy the gnomes, or endanger their freedom. They entered a golden door, and walked up to where the king sat. but the king was not sitting indeed, no he was standing. The King was gentle and kind, his heart made of pure gold. And he had as deep a voice as many dwarves. In fact it not for his size one might have considered him a dwarf. He wore a dark purple tunic, and a crown made of ivory tusks, from the elephants of Muridol, in the olden days, when there were elephants left in that region of the world. At his side, was a great battle axe. This axe was handed down in lineage from father to son, and the weapon had existed many years. Its origin was unknown, but the weapon was brought from Muridol, with the migration of the gnomes, due to an event called Green Plague. But that is another story. “Riga, sister-son, why is it that strangers are in my hall?†He said with a booming voice. Before Riga could answer him, Tumeh stepped forward. “Sire, it was I, Tumeh, son of Tumen, who fled into the wild.†he then recounted all his adventures, since the exile from the Great Forest. After his tale was told, Grian spoke. “And these that travel with you?â€Â
“They represent their people, and are thinking of making a grand Alliance. We wish that you, will come under it, so we may defend our people from the war that is coming our way, and we must counter-attack it.†Said Tumeh with a great fire in his eyes. “Then we will help. Riga, go now and tell the people. All who can bear arms will prepare for war. Those too weak or too young will stay here, in my hall, as to have a defense that none can enter. Now my guests, stay for tonight, and rest your wearied bodies.†He said with a soothing voice. “Nay, my lord, now that you have set the stepping stones of the Alliance, we need to get the remaining races toward the same cause. My fellow companions are here so that if you accepted the idea, that they would join. If you would have refused, there would be no Alliance. We will stay for tonight at Riga, your sister-son’s house. Now, we must prepare to leave, good day, King Grian.†Tumeh then turned, and walked out of the hall, with his companions following. Riga saw them exit the tunnel and ran to meet them. “Riga you will come with us, but we are not going to leave tonight. We will stay in your house, and help you in anyway possible.†Back at the palace, Grian called a scribe to him. Go to Moralas, and find out all you can about Tumen.†“It will be done, my lord.†He quickly went out of the palace, and rode on his way to Moralas. Feeling sheepish, Grian bid all his officials a good day, and retired to his quarters. When he woke he had a tedious task to do. He had to prepare his people for war.

It was a bright morning in the hills of Rockborough. Riga got up and opened the shutters of his bedroom window. He took a deep breath of the flowery air, and watched as the wind made the grass sway. The flowers were in full blossom, and he could hear the laughter of children as they played games in the meadow. He smiled to himself, and went to have his breakfast. As soon as he had finished his meal and was on his porch, he decided to take a stroll around the town. But as he stood up there coming up to his door, was a figure dressed in a bright green cloak.
“Hullo.†said Riga happily seeing that nothing could ruin his perfect morning. “I was just about to take a stroll to town, would you like to accompany me?†He did not want to seem rude to this stranger, so he felt rather good of himself.
“Sounds like a fine idea!†said the stranger laughing. Riga did not know why, but when the stranger laughed, it seemed like all the flowers blossomed to feed on his breath for strength.
As they walked along, there was not much conversation. “My name is Riga.†He said after he could no longer contain the silence. “Who, might you be?†“Well, my name is Tumeh, which means, friend of nature in elvish. But, I have known your name Riga, son of Driga, before you mentioned it to me.†He said laughing cheerfully. “Oh, then may I inquire why you are here?†He said agitation rising in his serene voice. “Well to answer you, I have come here to warn you and your people. I have ridden three hundred leagues, from some uncharted mountains, to warn you of the war that is coming. The Trolls, Orcs, and a new race I have discovered, the Tauren, they call themselves, are preparing to wage war on the remaining races of the world. Your people, have been overlooked hopefully. That will give us the edge.†For the first time in Tumeh’s company, Riga turned and faced him. “Are you sure that there is a war coming, and that this new race, the Tauren, are siding with them?†Tumeh could sense the fear in Riga’s voice. “Yes, I was wandering in the deep north, and came across a pass. I took this pass, and came upon them. I could only get there in my worg form, for those creatures are sacred in their lands. Anyway my friend, while I was there I saw many tribes, and all were preparing for war. I had to stay there a week to learn their true intentions. I have ridden for three days, and am weary. If you could send word to your kinsmen Grian, then I would appreciate it.†Riga bade that Tumeh stay with him so he could rest, and Tumeh gladly accepted it. After staying for a few hours, Tumeh announced his leaving. “I must go on to the next kingdom if we are to have any warning at all. I will return tonight, probably late, so don’t wait for me. Warn the king, I will return.†With that, he ran outside, jumped on his steed, and was gone.
At first Riga thought little of the stranger that came to his doorstep, and resumed his daily business. In his little home he had many rooms, with a kitchen at the head. He walked down the hall and entered his study, where maps littered the table, and books lying on the floor. As he was pondering over one of the maps, h suddenly realized he had not done what Tumeh had requested of him. He ran quickly to his closet and pulled out his plate armor, that was handed down by his grandsire. It was silver, like a full moon, with a golden lion in the center. Legend of the armor stated that when in dire need, the creatures of the world will come to the aid, of the one who wears it. Riga did not believe this tale, but when he was a young lad his grandsire would tell this story to all the kids. He woke himself from his little dream, and picked up his sword. It was not like any other sword of the gnomish people. This sword, would make even the mightiest man struggle to wield. Riga lifted it with great strength, and looked in the mirror, he had hanging nearby.
Now clad in his kinsmen’s armor, he went up the Rockborough hills to where the mayor of the town presided. Upon opening the door the mayor was surprised to see Riga prepared for war. “What in the gnome is this all about?†He asked with curiosity, and alarm. “There is a serious matter I must discuss with you, but lets us get inside so I may speak openly about this dark business.†Riga told him, looking to make sure that no one was about to eavesdrop. Once inside the mayor offered Riga food and drink. He refused the food, but gladly accepted the drink. “Now my friend, tell me why you have come to me this night, instead when the light shines in the garden and all are merry.†The mayor told Riga. Riga then told the mayor of his encounter with Tumeh, how he knew Riga’s name, and told exactly what Tumeh told Riga about the war. The mayor listened with no movements at all. When Riga had finished his piece, the mayor leaned back, and put a hand to his head. “This is horrible news, we must tell the king.†He said with fear in his voice. “Yes, we must, and this elf, Tumeh, will need to stand before the king, before Grian will consider any action. Also this is no ordinary elf. I sense a great aura about him. He will be needed.†Riga said with a grim smile. “I will tell Grian, in the morning, and hopefully Tumeh will be back by then.†With that word said, the mayor led Riga to the door, and bade him goodnight. Feeling good that he had done Tumeh’s will he went back to his own home, so he could rest his wearied body. Riga entered his house and walked to his bedroom. As sleep took him, he wandered if Tumeh would be there tomorrow. With that thought he fell into a deep, dreamful sleep.

      Prologue

Long ago there was a man, who was not entirely a man. He was an elf. His father, being a great warrior, met a beautiful elven woman. They fell in love, and it was the first time that the world had a man, and an elven woman fall in love. They had a son, and named him Tumeh, which meant in elvish; friend of nature. Soon after his birth, an expedition of orcs and trolls invaded the town, bent on destroying all its inhabitants. So the family fled. They soon came to the borders of Aundura, or the Great Forest in the tongues of men. Here they entered, and all knowledge of their presence was lost for years. Tumeh was a special child. He had a dark skin color, and had his mothers facial features. His hair was jet black, like his fathers, and he had an unusual talent, he could change his form. Any beast his eyes fell upon he could form himself into that beast. He was well taught in his studies, and soon began to master his shape shifting. Ten years in his life, his father went away to aid in the Great War, that had spread in the north. That was the last that he and his mother saw him. Soon after, his mother fell into sickness, and after many months of fighting, finally passed from the world. After burying her, and his fathers absent grave, he knew he could no longer stay in the forest. So he left, leaving the place forever protected by the watchers of the forest.
Tumeh then started a life of travel. He mastered his shape shifting, and went to and fro lending aid wherever it was needed. He became known to the people as Druid; being one that changes form. He was young, and his part in the world was about to begin.
