    • Jessica Jones: That chick, feminist show and I'm a misogynist.‚Äč

      RessXalcor

It annoys me when a female character is the lead on a show, a great show and all of these pigeons show up and talk about how liberating it is to have an amazing female character as the lead because that never happened ever. I hate it when gender is the main reason why people react about a show. Jessica Jones isn't the first show to portray a frail yet strong female character that happens to be a superhero and trust me when I say that's a very specific description, do I need to remind people that without the supernatural stuff Buffy would technically be considered a superhero if she went after bank robbers and murderers instead(real human murders I mean), she posses super strength and agility and has died more times than the usual superhero itself.

I'm off track. Jessica Jones is a great show, not because the lead is female but because its amazingly written(maybe amazingly is too strong of a word for some but...), it has a great villain who's entire power is what most of us dream about, the ability to control people would be amazing til you realize that Kilgrave is that person with the power and he's outright horrifying. While I'd be telling people to give me their money he's telling people to wait at a wall for the end of time, or brutally raping them. While I'd enjoy super strength by just ripping the head of that upstairs neighbor bitch, Jessica was trying her hardest to help everyone while trying to act like she generally didn't care.

I'm off track again. Why are all these people coming out of the woodwork to praise the show because the lead is a woman, it seems like such an annoying thing to praise a show for. Its not as rare as it seems and just because CBS released the worlds worst trailer for a female superhero show that basically rips every troupe from a several months earlier SNL sketch doesn't change anything. There are amazing female characters on shows, movies, games, writing, and comics. We need more greatly written characters, their gender/orientation/race/whatever handicap an SJW would get wet over NOTWITHSTANDING shouldn't matter unless these things are central to the plot itself.
I don't know why I start these rants, they never reach the conclusion I plan and if I review what I typed, it really wouldn't be a rant/journal entry so much.

Ooh, and fuck Canada's Justin Trudeau. I read one of his tweets about how he hired an equal amount of men and women into his cabinet because "Hey it's 2015"... No fuck that, I know it's 2015. If you put women or minorities in your cabinet to earn points and not because they were the best possible candidate, fuck you. If he fails Canada he can play the "At least I was progressive" card. I know he chose some amazing and accomplished women but it's 2015 as he said, if he downplays their accomplishments doesn't that basically discredit their experience and what they are capable of?

I really dont know anything about copyright so its weird and Im contemplating just leaving a character's shirt blank. One of my characters has a famous person on it but its a drawing of a famous picture and I did a vector of it to clean it up and just posted it on the shirt...

Maybe I'll just leave it blank :/

Hahah he is a divorce attorney, and he's not getting an award. He's becoming president of the academy, meaning he's taking basically a CEO position of this organization. It's about ... christ, I don't know, 600 lawyers in the US who are a part of it? They're the most successful divorce lawyers from every state. They have conferences and that sort of thing.

I was not even talking about Christianity. Everything that I write about is what I keep coming to when thinking about the world which we live in and about reality. Please don't jump to conclusions about what I'm writing. Or at least wait until I'm actually done. Because there's at least a Part Three coming.

Oh I absolutely agree. All the civil rights are under the same kind of thing. The black civil rights movement, women's suffrage, and now gay rights. They're all the same idea: just treat everyone like you'd want to be treated. It's a lesson most people learn AS CHILDREN and yet here are tons of adults acting like assholes. I honestly don't understand the mind behind racism or homophobia. It's so alien to me. I try to connect like well hatred comes from fear, so what exactly are you afraid of, but sometimes people hate without even knowing why. So I get so confused. I've never hated anything because I was told to hate it. That seems illogical. I've never hated anything at all. I felt rage at those stupid fourteen year olds who would do something so cruel, but I don't hate them because who knows where the hell they're getting it from and they're morons.

No it was very interesting, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I was always raised to look beyond race and religion. My mother is catholic and my father is jewish and they raised us to believe whatever we wanted to believe, but to respect other religions. I try to remember that we have progressed in many ways, but sometimes progress feels like really just righting wrongs already done. Is it progress we freed the slaves or should they always have been free and we were just assholes until forced to make it right? Is it progress that gays can now serve proudly out in the open in the army or is it pathetic that it's even a question at all that someone who gives their life for us deserves less credit because of who they love? I don't know really.

Luckily with crochet all you have to do is pull the right string and you can undo any mistakes. Yes, she prefers cotton, more durable and doesn't itch.

oh, well, we found a pattern for Tom Baker's scarf (all three (four?) of them) and it shows the different color blocks, their lengths (rows) and whatnot, the problem is, that's for knitted wool, not crocheted cotton... so we need to figure out what type of crotch stich, which yarn, which needle, etc, to get the proper look and size needed... this could possibly take awhile... trial and errors...

Like I said, not sure when it will be done, it's not her own project and she's also tranfering the pattern which is more difficult than it sounds... I'll let you know when I know more.

My mom is cool like that. As for cost, you can get a 'replica authentico' online for over a hundred bucks, but like I said, this would be crochet, cotton, etc... but it will look the part, be multicolored and long enough to hog tie yourself with it...

Mom doesn't know how much yarn it will take, if it will even come out, so we'll have to see when it's done, so definately shipping costs ($10) and probably something much, much less than $100.

      In reply to RessXalcor, #149153:

Okay, so talked to my mom she can only crochet and apparently I'm ass backwards about anything with needles that doesn't involve pain. Mom thinks she can do a Dr Who scarf but it won't be entirely 'authentic', for one it will be crocheted but she believes that using 4ply yarn and a 10 guage needle she can get the knitted garter stitch look, only it will be stiffer as crochet usually is a stiffer stitch. Some washing and misadventure though will soften it up. She also would make it out of cotton/synthetic yarn, not wool, because for one she already has a lot of that laying around, for two it lasts longer/holds up better, and three, wool itches.

She doesn't know how long it will take, it's a new pattern and she's trying to figure out how to port the design over to crochet. She's hoping it will look pretty authentic (if so she's making herself one) and if anything it will be obviously recognizable as a Dr Who scarf.

She's going to look into it, mess around a bit on the pattern, if she does make one I'll take pics and you can see if you like it, if so, we'll talk shop.

And now I have to sit here and listen to her regale me with her fondest Dr Who memories...

The thing is ... it's completely ridiculous yes. But he's going to get away with it and we just have to accept it because he doesn't care. He can do whatever he wants that doesn't make sense at all. I was just saying that we have been razzle dazzled (if you don't know it, look it up on YouTube from the play or movie Chicago). It's all shiny and bright and the music is fun so you're like this is great, but if you look closely you go oh wait the characters are mostly unlikable and their characterization changes week to week, nothing ever makes sense, and the drama is stupid.

    • ChipperHalf

That was pretty awesome, I laughed out loud. I'm glad they reacted realistically though. Kurt and Rachel's development as friends has been a good point for me the past season, so I'm glad they stuck with that instead of any relationship drama this time around.

I knew that since Darren Criss was becoming a regular they'd have him transfer to the school. They said it was going to happen. But I was horrified they actually did it. I love DC so much, don't get me wrong, but as someone who went to a private school, this was stupid on so many levels. There is not one person in the world who would transfer in their SENIOR YEAR to a public school days INTO THE SCHOOL YEAR. He can't get his deposit back, his parents already paid for his year at Dalton. And he has a much better chance at getting into good colleges with Dalton as his background and being the star of the Warblers, that's ridiculous. I know this is such a thing to nitpick, but it's like they ask me to accept so many ridiculous things and eventually I just go WHAT.

    • ChipperHalf

I don't know why either, but this premiere is really making me question it a little, honestly. I've put up with so much ridiculous crap, and this one just kind of went to a new limit of what I can put up with. And the music wasn't even that great. THe only thing I liked was Kurt and Rachel getting their arrogant asses schooled.
