Everyone loves movies most of the time, and going to the movies with friends is always fun, so I was thinking that at some point we can start planning outings where we for the most part agree on a movie and take over a theater. Given how spread out we are this may require the outings be split into West and East Michigan, but I am confident we can pull this off in the future. I am only posting this here so we can casually brainstorm how this would work as well as use this as a means to encourage recruiting more and more active members to join the group.

As far as the East Michigan bit goes, we have a few Emagine theaters over here which are a bit pricey, but they server food and beer and are as far as I know the closest thing we have to an Alamo Draft House style theater. We would definitely want to make any such outings in the middle of the week to avoid being in a crowded theater full of asshats telling us to keep it down, or if it's possible we could even rent out a theater, though I will need more time to look into that.

    • Tips for bringing in a roommate?

I have been living in my condo alone for almost 6 months now, ever since I bought it. It's been great, complimented my anti social quiet life style really well, but now I'm kinda feeling like it would be nice have someone living with me for far cheaper than they would be renting an apartment, both in part to allow me to have some life in my home, help me pay off my mortgage faster, and also allow me to not have to do as much house upkeep.
My current issue is I don't actually talk to a lot of people, so I don't have any candidates, and I'm not sure how I feel about finding a roomie online. Another issue is I'm kinda picky as far as people since I get along better with women and nerds, so it would either have to be a lesbian (to take out some of the awkwardness) or Steve the star war geek. Is there any etiquette for having someone stay with you for a week or two just to see how well you mesh? Has anyone here gotten a roommate they had not met or known long prior? And do you happen to know anyone in SE Michigan who is looking to room with someone who you think may be alright to live with?

I figured I'd see what all our respective places we game at look like, because setups are always fun to admire.

This is mine, it's normally a lot messier, and with both a coffee cup AND a glass of whatever I happened to be drinking, but I cleaned up a bit for this shot. I have both the Xbox and Desktop audio wired to come out of both the desktop speakers AND the however many watt sound system sitting on my bookcase, and my mouse pad is home to 2 mice so that I do not have to deal with the track pad on my laptop. As soon as I find something to rest over my xbox I intend to slap a 3rd display over that so that I can dual monitor my laptop like I do my desktop. I have a futon in here as well in case I want to lie down and game/watch a movie, hence why there is a pillow and a blanket

PS: I apologize if this has popped up before, I did a quick search for similar threads and nothing came up for my search terms

    • DayZ Standalone Heroes

I am certain that there will not be many takers, but if there are any among us who are PC gamers, and have the standalone version of DayZ, AND consider themselves to be heroes more concerned with helping out other players whenever they meet them, and never hunting for sport, then I would like for us to start playing together.

For those who are not familiar with DayZ, it is an open world post apocalyptic survival simulator with infected (commonly referred to as Zombies) as the most prevalent threat. In the game, you must ensure you eat, drink, keep yourself relatively clean, avoid eating rotten food, clean your wounds and dirty headgear, stave off illness with assorted remedies such as antibiotics and charcoal tabs. The only goal of the game is to survive, which is a lot harder than you might think, especially when faced by bandits or trigger happy players, and coupled with the scarcity of supplies such as food and medicine.

I am largely online 2-4 days a week, never the same set of days though, and almost exclusively to the hours of 9pm EST to 2am EST, and I prefer to stay north of Zelenogorsk and Polana, and I RARELY venture the the NW Airfield.

The game began as a mod for the ARMA 2 game, and the Standalone version is a hybrid of both ARMA 2 and ARMA 3 as well as some newer elements to the engine. It is poorly optimized, but runs well enough on most hardware, and the mod version ran well enough on low on a laptop based i3 dual core with Intel HD 3000 graphics at a 2.5Ghz clock speed. The Standalone Version runs well enough on medium on my Laptop based A10 quad core and four gigs of RAM, so it should run well on something as low as an A6 with a 2.7Ghz clock speed, or comparatively an Intel i3 dual core running Intel HD 4000 and a clock speed of 2.6Ghz.
