Well, right about now, I was originally planning to be announcing that tickets for RvB:TX were on sale. Unfortunately, that's not going to be the case. You might have heard that the RT staff has their own event planed for late May. We, the organizers of RvB:TX, don't feel it will be possible to compete with a larger and better organized event, so we're officially canceling our event.

But all is not lost! We're keeping the group page for two reasons:

      1) RvB:TX will now be a hub for all RT fans in and around Texas. We'll keep people up to date on RT related events in and around Texas, from small meet ups to the RoosterTexas event the staff is planning. If you have not already done so, please watch the group to stay up to date on the news.

      2) We're planning a smaller get together in Austin this winter. It won't be as big as our original plans, but it'll still be a chance for fans to get together and have fun.

For more details, please see the journal here.

Friendly Neighborhood RvB:TX Admin here! Just a few updates on the group today:
      1) We officially have 200 members! Sweet! You Guys Rock!

      2) We'd really appreciate it if everyone watches the group and checks the forum every few weeks or so. We post polls and messages on the group and we need YOUR input to make sure that this RvB:TX will be the best yet. If you already watch the group, thanks a ton! If not, go here and click the watch button. There are also polls concerning likelihood of attendance and optimum ticket price in the group forum.

      3) The event is being tentatively scheduled for next March. Hope to see you there!

      4) We could really use the help of a Web Designer. if you or someone you know could help us get even a bare bones site running, it would be greatly appreciated. However, please note that this will be an act of volunteerism on your part. We'd love to pay you, but we just don't have the money. But isn't being able to say that you designed a site in order to celebrate the greatest Machinima series ever reward enough? If you are still interested, please contact myself, or one of the other group admins.

      5) Keep active in the group. The planning staff is constantly looking for cool ideas for events, and they are the best spot to get yours out there.

That's all folks! Keep your eyes glued to the screen for further updates.

I agree with you on certain points but, my argument is as it has always been the systems in place right now are flawed, and can be improved upon. (like most things in this world)
My opinion is that most problems stem from the inability of the governments to cater to the individual.
While individuals in the government see a problem to large for them to fix personally and just try and make due with what they have.

Money on the other hand... smiley6.gif
I have nothing good to say on that subject so I will keep my opinions to myself.

To true on the last point, thats why I don't preach to the masses about it.
For me its a personal ideal, and I just like to talk about it when the subject comes up.

You like to debate don't you?
Watching a government collapse and the chaos that fallows is a great argument against the theory.
But there hasn't been an anarchist society yet.
I have to explain that Anarchism is freedom, in all things by definition.
But in true application Anarchism is self-governance.
      And in my believes inevitable.

      funny...this is too much math for you, but 1/3 + 2/3 = 1 (not .9999) isn't...hmm smiley8.gif

by putting a fraction at the end of the decimal, it actually guarantees that the number indeed goes on forever. Type out the first three digits in 1/3. its .333, right? Lets, for the sake of time, say thats when infinity has been reached (though we both know its impossible to reach infinity). Now, you place the fraction at the end of the decimal. It makes it .3331/3. Write out 1/3 again to infinity, and add it on to the .333 to come out with the actual number. You'd get .333 333 and 1/3 again. wash, rinse, repeat...

Do you see how adding the fraction at the end doesn't put a limit on infinity, but rather ensures infinity?

As for the whole shaq thing, I agree. As I stated before, 9X = 9 with X = 1 is indeed true. BUT, its a completely different equation from 10X = 9.9999. Saying that I'm taller than a 3 year old s true, and saying that i'm shorter than Shaq is also true...however, those two things are completely different clauses from one another. They've already solved for X in the 10X - X equation, so to solve for X again would create a different solution anyway. The problem for 10X is that the converse of the problem isn't true to this equation, and quite simply further proves that it is forms a new equation of its own. Another good example of this is with this old riddle:

I don't know why you're getting so stuck on 1/3 2/3. The decimal as we know it for 1/3 IS .3333... but the actual number is .3333 AND 1/3. The 1/3 is too small of an actual number for us to comprehend. It makes perfect sense as to why 2/3 then equals .6666...AND 2/3. Its not a perfect "7" per say, but its the best out puny pea sized minds can do.

Whenever you have a repeating decimal, the fraction used is to go at the end of the decimal to complete the sequence. That is as close to perfect as we can get.

As for my second point, are you agreeing with me that x=1 is a completely different problem than what was originally to be solved for? I'm lost as to what you're trying to get at...

AND, aside from being super technical with the whole molecule thing, death would indeed have 100% of the apples, and you know it! smiley8.gif

    • DRUM57IX

To answer the first problem, the assumption is that we are indeed able to comprehend numbers, when in fact numbers in general are theory and infinite. Our human minds cannot yet comprehend infinity (though I believe one day we all will), and we won't be able to solve the answer of 2/3 PERFECTLY until then, but we do know (ask your calculator next time you see it) that there is indeed a 7 at the very end.
Yes, at times we can indeed know numbers and what they mean, but when you involve infinity, you screw everything up.
We can find the circumference with the equation piR^2, but we don't yet know pi. We know thousands upon thousands of places it goes, and we know it ends eventually, but we are not yet able to comprehend the entirety of pi. In fact, the technology we built to solve this very problem has yet to come to the end...

For the second problem, 9x = 9 is indeed true...however, this is a completely separate problem from 10X = 9.9999. If, as the problem correctly states, x = .9999, go ahead and add up ten .9999s. It equals 9.9999. Or you could do the other math that I put in your journal. When you add up nine .9999s, it equals 8.9991. another .9999 makes it 9.9999. How can the same equation written differently have two different solutions? As you stated, it can't.
The thing is though that we've already solved for X in the previous equation. To solve for X after you already know X is redundant and leads to las vegas style bad math, which coincidentally led to the creation of blackjack!

I don't claim to be a mathematician, but this is actually pretty simple stuff if you don't try to over think it like this teacher did...

I was also in a spot that the checkpoint i came back to was like 2 seconds before i died. Like, I was in the tunnels at the end of Ravenholm, and when you jump over the fence and theres even more headcrabs there. Theres a autosave right there as you jump over. I was down to my last points of health and a fast headcrab got me. but when i came back to that point, it was already jumping at me. So I got plenty of opportunities to take a pic because i died over nd over at that spot. Stinkin headcrab was respawn stalking..
