      Mind of a Madman

I haven't made a journal post for quite some time now. Shame on me.

My life is changing very quickly.

I'm changing to a Creative Writing major.
I'll be an Uncle within the month.
I broke up with my girlfriend of six months.
I'm being killed by my classes.
I'm doing an unofficial NaNoWriMo this year.

So much is going on, but I'll always be here watching if not commenting. Which is a bit creepy when you get right down to it I suppose.

May the lies bring you comfort, trying a new sign off

      BECAUSE I AM A POTATO

A couch potato that is. Really. I've done nothing. I beat Portal 2 in about 7 hours and i'm almost done with my second run. I've also beat the co-op with my roommate and we only came close to killing each other once (or more, idk i blacked out after he strangled me)

Gonna head back in and finish up run 2, so i can start on a developer's commentary run. :D

I am behind on writing because I bought Wise Man's Fear the day it came out and that's pretty much all I'm doing is reading it. It's a fantastic book so far. I'm only about 400 pages in. For some reason I'm reading it really slow. I think I'm out of practice. The last two books I read took me about two months each. Something is wrong with me.

Also this thing is happend: PAL - The Preface
I uploaded that album to youtube. It's pretty much the only mention of PAL on the entire internet now other than a single sentence on Wikipedia and a small blurb on The Good Boat. It's a fantastic album.

Let's see. I'm 1000 gamerscore from 30,000. I stopped caring about GS and achievements for the most part about a year back (or whenever it was that I didn't feel like getting multi-player achievements for Bio2 and Brotherhood.) But for this 1000 I need i'm going to 100% Portal 2. Yay me.

I guess that's all for now. Talk to you wonderful people later.

      All my love,
      - Sage Idle.

      Musings of the Fifth Sage

I've posted another thing on the Caretaker. That's what i'm calling it by the way. Oblivion's Caretaker: The Musings of the Fifth Sage. I like that. Anyways, when I say Caretaker you'll know what i'm talking about.

I posted an excerpt from my novel Mage which i began work on last year for Nanowrimo. I didn't finish it (or even get close to 50,000 words) but still, i like most of it. The excerpt i posted is more like a personal letter from me to the reader. I think it has a lot of good stuff in it, but i suppose i'll let you decide that.

The next thing i will probably post will be Good Intentions. It may take a bit because i'm trying something new on it. It seemed like most people wanted to see that one, and i'm going to try and put out what people are interested in reading. But also i'm posting stuff that i'm working on that i want people to see, because hey, it's good stuff as well.

Anyway, thanks a bunch to everyone who is reading and commenting. As an aspiring writer, really any feedback is nice. If you think it's crap, tell me it's crap. I won't be mad or anything. It all needs work, but i can't make it better until i know why it's crap.

And i'll talk to you all when Good Intentions is finished.

(edit: i posted some more poetry as of 2/23, don't mind it. Read the Mage excerpt please.)

      All my love,

      Oh here we go,

I pulled Typewriter out of the old vault. There you go.

It's pretty good I think. A first draft. Needs work. Shows kind of my style (odd narrator, odd situation).

Anyway, Dac suggested I write some info about the stories I have in reserve so:

16x8 World - Story of a boy that has lived in a 16x8 room his whole life. His only friend is a mysterious stranger that talks to him on his computer.
Behind a Glowing Screen - A kind of rant by your average online troll.
Behind the Walls - No idea. It's just a blank document with three words on it. Spooky.
Bioshock 3 (my crappy fanfic thingy) - I hated Bioshock 2 and began to write a sequel to redeem the franchise. Then Infinite was announced. Still I kinda like the concept I had for it.
Bus Stop - Two strangers meet at a Bus Stop.
Compatibility - A young man searching for love in a world where soul-mates are determined by computer algorithms.
Death Dies at the End (my crappy John Dies fanfic) - If you haven't read John Dies at the End this will make no sense. Even if you have, it will still be confusing as all hell. I just put it here to see if anyone actually wants to read what is probably my worst piece ever.
Getting Out - Oh man, this story would be great if I finished writing it. Which I will, if you'll read it. It's about a boy and a girl, and a car ride they go on.
Good Intentions - This one is about a boy who believes that Demons inhabit our world and are out to get him.
Main Characters - A social commentary, told through classic RPG elements. Honestly, my reasoning behind this story is a little absurd.
One Tear - My friend Nick had me write this one night when I had massive writers block. Story prompt: an old fisherman sees animal crackers shaped like whales and is fondly reminded of the old days.
Perfection - same as Behind the Walls. I'm sure at one point I had something in mind, now it's just an empty document waiting for inspiration.
Please do this for me... - Oh ho ho, man. Another kinda messed up tale inspired by my newly college-i-fied thinking globe. It's a fun story, if a bit on the sexual side.
The Exceptions - Once upon a time there were these kids, ya know? They were separated from the rest of the world. Turns out, they are the only ones with free will.
The Good Father / Queen Bitch - Two stories, that go together. What if one day you were faced with an impossible choice? Well, these stories show the two possible futures, and leave the decision up to you. What is morally acceptable?
The Untitled War - So there was this general guy. He is fighting zombies and werewolves and vampires and stuff.

      Oh and:
Oh Zombie, my Zombie - A dream I had, adapted for your enjoyment. Also, there are zombies in it.

      All my love,

      - Sage Idle

That had also crossed my mind, haha. I know that last year, I was in a Themes in Literature & Film class, and that was probably one of my favorite classes from all of high school. I'd do it, if the teacher will let me. My only problem is I get about an hour, and reading multiple stories a day takes a long time with these kids. Just today, they did their ten-minute write-up, then spent 20 minutes reading Bergeron. I kept looking at the clock thinking, "I should've just read it out loud."

I'll definitely look into doing a short film, though. That would definitely spread the diversity of themes around. smiley0.gif

Yeah, I like it too. And the panic is actually quite amusing. The only problem is that he seems to be wasting time getting peoples' hopes up even though he has no intention of bringing back those characters. The way the story is going, however, is great.

Hey, did you hear already about tonights Monday night lunar eclipse, it is supposed to be a full eclipse of the moon, I am not totally sure when it is supposed to be visible for all of us here in the central time zone, but I think it is supposed to begin around 11pm "approx" first the moon will turn sort of orange and then go black, and it will be a long time before it comes back out again, it will be cool.

info about the eclipse can eb read here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_2010_lunar_eclipse

I guess you could say that. I'm giving up because we decided there won't be a chance for anything else in the future. So it's the end of me trying for something that will inevitably never happen.

Life has its ups and downs. At the moment mostly downs...shit's been off and on. Largely summed up in my journals.

How about you? You haven't been to the quotes thread or the CBM thread in ages
