I asked this on the "random questions" thread. I think this would be an interesting discussion.

What was your first console? Do you still have it? Do you still play on it?

Mine was the Super Nintendo. My brother and I had a yard sale to come up with the money for it. We payed the hell out that thing. My brother still has it. I still believe that it is one of the best consoles EVER. I gotta steal it back from my brother someday...bust out Link To The Past and Mystical Ninja...

      Edit: I ALMOST FORGOT!
Instead of writing out another journal entry, I'll just post it here.
My buddy Jack is reviewing games over at Icons of Fright. Here is his first review on Aliens vs Predator

I was born into the right generation.

Well, I see that now...never used to believe it until recently.

I had this whole wordy entry planned, but I'm going to be a little more simplistic. Pardon my jumbled style.

You weren't cool if you played video games. If you were a girl and in the wrong company, you weren't even allowed to play video games unless it had a Disney logo or Barbie gracing the cover. Ugh. As time rolls on and systems became more sophisticated, gamer numbers increased. Families began gaming together. Girls were a little more welcomed into the video gaming circle (espeically when you could kick your brother's ass at Mortal Kombat). Video games have become more socially acceptable. Sure, you had your occassional "Video games make kids violent!" campaign, but those kids these groups were supposed to be "protecting" are all grown up now and still playing games...and still haven't robbed a 7-11.

The ages of 28 to 35 is a terrific age group to be in right now. We are the kids who grew up along with the gaming technology. We played Doom and once thought "Holy Shit! These graphics are so amazing!" Some of us have kids and are gaming along with them. I don't have children yet, but my parents still game with us. They LOVE it when we lug the PS3 around so they can play Rock Band with us.

We have conventions. WE HAVE GAMING CONVENTIONS! Are you going to tell 60,000 people in a room that gamers never leave the house or see the lgiht of day or even socialize with REAL people? You can't say that anymore because it is simply not true. Sure, you have your occassional stereotypes, but they aren't even close to the majority.

Online MMOs have opened bizarre doors to realities that people never saw coming...there are adults, children, mothers, grandparents, teachers, lawyers, students, celebrities, and even your crazy Uncle Harold playing this ONE game AND living a "normal" life offline.

I could go on. I could go on for pages just on video games alone...and lack a lot ogf knowledge as far as titles and "what sells". I haven't even touched on my college days as a table-top gamer. I can't touch on things like LARP, D&D, or Collector Card Games other than what I have witnessed around me. Pokemon is still going strong! Magic The Gathering is still making money!

You see that hot chick with the smoking hot body? She plays D&D every saturday night! You see that 12 year old kid playing Pokemon? He won enough money playing the game to pay his college tuiton! There's a father with a child on his shoulder...the kid is dressed as Link...

      We are the gaming generation.

And I made a mistake on the boards!
      YEAH ME!
I do know to read...I SWEAR I DO. But I just wasn't paying attention. I won't blame the drinking (3rd beer and the night is still young!) and I won't blame the distraction of my Access homework (I turned that shit off 2 hours ago)

I could blame it on concentrating on decorating my nails...pretty much typing with one finger. But from the looks of this entry, facebook, and twitter...I'd be better off typing with my nose!

      Ok....maybe not.

So, to wash away the sin of properly fucking up a forum post, I became a sponsor.

      My conscience is cleared.
