So, okay. Over the Halloween season [September-Beginning of November], I worked at a haunted house called Terror Behind the Walls. It is held in Eastern State Penitentiary, an abandoned prison that has now, since, become a historical site, museum, and overall rad place to be. If you aren't afraid of ghosts that is, seeing as the place has had so many various people die there over the years it was actually a prison. [In case you're wondering, my role was The Chainsaw in Detritus– an outdoor zone that was tribal and decayed and AMAZING. I held a real life chainsaw most nights and got to touch ppl w/ it [the chain was removed, no one got hurt], and it was literally the best.]
However, in the wrap up email, they sent a message asking if anyone wanted to work on the part-time Event Team staff. Seeing as I've worked comic cons since I was 14 [either as a vendor os as actual staff], I decided, what the hell. I'll sign up. Little did I know I would wind up working at the best place ever [aside from RTX/Rooster Teeth, OFC].
Not only is everyone amazingly nice and friendly, but it's super LGBTQIA* friendly, as well as containing a shit ton of ppl like that, as well! They respect pronouns, gender, everything. And that's just one reason they're rad. I mean, we housed a Game of Thrones themed event where the staff got to wear cloaks and talk in character-eqsue. It. Was. Amazing.
I just... even though it's part-time at best, I have never been happier. I love love love staffing events, and this is just my cuppa.
HEART YOU HOMOS! <3
P.S. I think I'll try to do a journal next week about me possibly transferring schools/the audition. I don't know if I'm accepted yet, so I wanna wait til I know before I write something full on out. <3
