    • Why Southerners get all the women

      SargeV2

I just figured out why us Souther boys get all the girls.

      1) We love to hear a good story, so listening is a skill we develop early on.
      2) We take life at a relaxed pace, so we're easier going
      3) High per capita military rates means bonus points
      4) Land means large homes and cheaper standards of living mean we can do more with less
      5) History and Charm are almost mandatory in traditional families
      6) Mechanical abilities means we can change your oil and look good while doing it
      7) More Agricultural work means harder, fitter bodies
      8) Better food and plenty of it means we know the value of a good meal--and usually the guys know how to cook.
      9) Most men know how to ride a horse--and that's come in handy for me a time or two.
      10) Lots of brawls as a kid means we're not afraid to defend our women's honor.

Any more feel free to add, and credit will be tacked on.

      2) One Does not talk about NOG
      3) Only NOG members may nominate people for NOG membership
      4) A 3/4+ vote is required to accept a new NOG member, with founding members having full veto power

    • GoldenZephyr

makes sense. I shoot in a tactical way different. Since I went through MCT with the old school, the hand placement is about the same. the broom stick would get in the way of getting your hand way out there like the PMI's teach for the prone. I agree, the sights would make it better for aiming but it's the ballistics of the round that make it accurate that far out. at 500 yards the 5.56 drops close to 5 feet, that's just lobbing it in there like a mortar or artillery. A longer barrel or more twists is the only way to really make it more accurate at long distance.

    • GoldenZephyr

the reason i was asking was because i heard it advertised to be point accurate to 600 yards....but if it's the same rifle, what gives?

    • GoldenZephyr

So it's still a 22" barrel? what they do? put more twists in it?

    • 82nd

      indeedzorz!

    • GoldenZephyr

      P.S.

you shot better cuz you can't see all of the distractions......which cause you to focus on the target, sight picture, blah blah blah

    • GoldenZephyr

I've only seen then from afar. Never held or used one. I kinda like the idea of the red dot sight but again, never used it. I can't understand though, how a shorter barrel makes the same round accurate on a point target at a longer range. Goes against what I know about ballistics. I do like the idea of the bipod. makes combat supported prone a little easier for called distance shots.

I have no idea what those things are. Seriously. If they're NVD or sights, we use ANVIS-9 on the helos. $16,000 worth of digital light and infra-red energy processing. I don't know if the "other" countries have such clear bi-optic IR night devices. We do own the night.

advice for a bullet sponge? .....

Listen to your NCO's. I look up to them. I'm supposed to be able to command a company (every Marine a rifleman) and I think you and me are on the same skill level as far as Rifleman is concerned. Otherwise, family motto:

Keep your chin up and your head down.
