So, Bethesda has announced they are going to be making the tales, tomes, and writings of Skyrim into actual books. I feel as though @tropes is probably going to cry from joy that he can physically hold Tamriel's lore, history, and arcana in his hands. I expect to hear a rant about it on Sunday.

Today is my birthday, and while I've been unable to keep up with school and RT, I have been talking with more people from the community. I've been enjoy streams and making new friends. And what better way to enjoy your birthday than with friends. Thanks to this wonderful community for letting me connect with so many people. You guys are awesome!

So I've been trying to be more active in the community, but now with school starting, as well as all of the other content, streaming, and life commitments, I've fallen behind with RvB and RWBY, but I still plan on catching up in the next few days. I've been streaming quite a bit recently, too, and that's going to be tough to maintain when I'm working and going to school after next week, but I have plans.

Some friends of mine from high school did a stream last night and it was both interesting, but a really welcome change from doing solo streams or doing them with people over Skype. Having people to react with right next me, as well as just catch up with old friends was so refreshing and pleasant that we're making plans to make it a more regular thing with hopefully at least 1 day a week or 2-3 per month when our schedules intersect at good times. Stay tuned for more stuff!

On top of that, I've been working on getting some more interviews and content put up on the channel. I have a few ideas that I'm planning on getting edited for the channel, but there's gonna be a lot of streams put up on the channel for awhile. I also am trying to find the time to get my website looking better with some more coding, but time got away from me this summer. It's much better than it was and I'm proud of that, but I need to get a lot more done with it before it looks the way I want it.

Besides all this, I'm planning on going to RT New England this Sunday up in Boston to chill with a bunch of cool people and make some new friends. I'm gonna make the most of this, and the last week of summer before school and then returning to the routine of work and school, except it's even more hectic than last year. But all in all, I'm super excited!

So the idea has been passed around that we should make RT Radio something beyond the chat and more akin to an actual 24 hour radio online. This journal is something I wrote after a long bit of research into the matter, and I'd like your opinion on it and feedback. I'd love to see this happen, and I know you guys would too!

    • RT Radio as Actual Radio

So, in the most recent RT Radio on Friday, the idea was passed around with people like @Ginman, myself, and others of making RT Radio something that streamed 24-hours a day, every day. Well, everyone was afraid of paying copyright fees, setting up servers, or paying a monthly fee to host and run a server-based radio station. Well, I spent a lot of time looking for cheap and free ways of doing it, and one thing kept coming up: livestreams. I read several articles saying that the best way to reach an audience consistently, save on server costs, and not have to pay massive copyright costs is through livestreaming services such as Twitch, Hitbox, and Livestream are all possible ways of getting a large audience to get free streaming without paying large costs. These are not the best means by which to get it done. It would require 1 computer to stream constantly, or to have multiple computers doing the work for several hours every day. However, it does give much more freedom and less payment costs to have some form of a 24-hr stream of music, as well as being able to have multiple hosts and talents, actual live audio/DJ control with various means of music, and gives us the opportunity to reach a large audience at low cost. It's certainly up for debate and it requires quite a bit of research, knowledge, and feedback from multiple parties involved, but it does give us a possible method to make RT Radio available for all 24 hours a day.

Please, leave your thoughts and feedback here, or on RT Radio's forums. I encourage as many people working on this topic as possible so that we can come to a solution to this that makes everyone happy. Thank you!

Oh me, oh my, I do declare, it's been ages since I last posted on here! I've missed you all quite a lot, as well as RT in general. I've been busy with uni and work and just haven't had the time to watch virtually anything RT related, or really do much in the community. And while I only have a little under a month left before I return to uni, I do plan on making more of an effort to get back into this wonderful community!

In other news, I also have gotten my Youtube Channel started up, and tried to bring back my interview series "Let's Meet The Internet" back to full length interviews. My latest interview was with @Axialmatt, one of the people hired by AH at RTX 2014. He's a great guy, really nice, and I learned a lot about him in that interview, as will you! So go give it a watch and subscribe to my channel for more stuff that I'll be adding in the next few weeks! I also have a bunch on interviews from PAX East 2014 with some really cool people, including Mega64! I'm trying to get more guests on for things, but that's a bit of a problem at times.

I also set up my own website this summer! It doesn't look that great right now, but I'm doing a big overhaul of the site structure this summer and I plan to have it looking decent, if not great, by the end of the summer. I've yet to learn javascript, so as of now it's only HTML and CSS, and bad versions of that as it is. But, soon things will be looking a lot nicer and cleaner. But, it still has most of the things you need to know posted there, so you'll be able to get enough info about me to catch up on all of my stuff.

Anyway, I'm trying to be more active on the site, so hopefully you guys will stick around and maybe even help me out with my channel. Either way, you guys are awesome!

    • Looking for a bit of help on PAX East

      SaxyGuyMike

Hello everyone! Sorry for not posting and following RT as much, but I've been so terribly busy I just haven't had the time to watch the videos, podcasts, and keep up with you all. I hope you can forgive me, but I have a favor to ask.

PAX East is this weekend, and some things have come up in the past few weeks that have greatly changed the whole means by which I can travel up to Boston. I was planning on going by train, but that's been jeopardized and, as of the moment, I have to drive 2 hours each way and find parking in the city in order to get there. This is incredibly difficult, and it seems as though it'd be vastly easier to get a hotel. But, that's money I don't have and there's virtually no rooms anywhere, so I'm coming to the greatest community ever for help.

I am wondering if there is anyone or any group of people that have space to allow one more person into their hotel room. I can supply my own transportation to the hotel, pay for my food and keep, as well as offer my car as a means of transportation around the city (albeit, if there's any parking for where that needs to be). I am willing to pick people up from their respective airports (I'm assuming Logan or T.F Green, but if it's 2 different airports, the one that's closer to me, like T.F Green, will be the one I go to). I am not terribly familiar with the city, however, Boston is a city that can be walked through and is often faster to go that way. It's also possibly I can acquire and air mattress that can be used for others, or a sleeping bag if I really need to. I can pay for my own food and all I ask is the amount I'd need to pay for my portion of the room ahead of time so that I can have a check written out (as long as I can afford it).

I'd like to add that this arrangement needs to be agreed upon by my family as well as any parties involved before this is for certain, but if you message me on here, or contact me on twitter at @ThatSaxyGuyMike , I'll respond to you immediately and do my best to arrange something. I'm not expecting much response to this because it's so late, but if someone wants to help, it'd be very much appreciated. Thank you!

    • RT, I need some help with a project.

      SaxyGuyMike

So, I have this idea to make a study based on internet friendships and relationships that people have had as well as gathering just some broad information to shed better light on this subject. So, what better way to get some attention for it than coming to you guys in Rooster Teeth, as well as tumblr. Here's the tumblr post explaining everything that I need you to read. You can answer the information the same way as explained on tumblr because it's all done through Google Drive and email. If you can show this to your friends so that they can help get me to the goals that I need for this project to succeed. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated, even if you don't want to or can't participate yourselves! Thank you for your help guys! smiley12.gifsmiley12.gif

I know it's been ages since I last posted on here, but I wanted to ask a favor of my friends, but also the people on Rooster Teeth who are knowledgeable about mental health or have mental health problems like me. Specifically, I'm looking for those who are affected or know a good amount about Autism and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. I put up a Reddit Post asking what people thought about the DSM changing its diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorders to just general Autism of varying degrees. I'm personally upset about it, but I wanted to know what other people thought about the whole thing. Any [POSITIVE AND CONSTRUCTIVE COMMENTS are appreciated. Thank you again!

Fuck twitter limitations. So, you want to be internet famous?

You can't think about things as "overdone" and shit. You can only be good at what you want to be good at!

Stop thinking how to get ahead of the competition, because there is none. You're not going to compete with game grumps or yogscast and you're not going to be the next "Rage Quit" if you spend all of your time thinking about how to be better than them while not doing anything.

My advice is to do what you want, no matter how much competition you have. Just like the real world, experience is the key to landing better "jobs"

Build a portfolio. I can't remember who said it, but I was told to start small and work your way up. If you aim too high you just discourage yourself by having an impossible goal.

Starting with interviews is a great way. If you want to become a reporter for a website or stick to the podcast it's a skill you'll need to hone. Interview anyone! If they are active members of the community or content creators of any kind you can usually get a decent interview from them.

If you really want to get into animation and story writing then start NOW. The best skill to have (and one I lack the most) is time management. Spend a set amount of time dedicated to a different skill you're trying to perform. You already do it since you're on a podcast.

You set away a time to record the podcast and also time to edit it and upload it. Just do the same for whatever else you're trying to do. Set small realistic goals and get them done.

TL;DR: Enjoy what you do. Find what you enjoy doing. DO IT! Don't think about shortcuts, take the long route, you'll learn more. And good luck!

(If you want to interview someone or need another voice/commentator I'm always up for it, I just don't do too much that's worth talking about xD)
