Wow what a summer! I don't think I've ever done so much in one summer vacation. I first went to Zion National park where I got to rockclimb and hike so pretty awesome trails. Then I went to Bryce Canyon where I did some more hiking and went on an ATV tour of the canyon. I did that all pretty much in one week.

After that I got to go to Peru where I worked with 600 other teens on a mission trip. Everyone is divided up into teams of 40 and given their own private bus which they use to go out into the local communities and tell everyone about my good ol' buddy Jesus Christ. We got to stay at a resort where we had access to pools, jacuzzis, and even our very own mini zoo. Ah... good times...

Next I went to iD Tech camp for two weeks at UCLA. I got to stay there the whole time and we slept in the dorm rooms. I made my very own 3D game thats involved zombies, a fire-ax, and a mini-gun. Oh and I forgot to mention that I scattered barrels of nuclear waste around the map so everything near them produces an ominous green glow. Man... even my own game scared me.

And lastly I hit Hawaii for two weeks. I did so much I'm already forgetting what I did. Lets see... I went swimming, caldera hiking, ATV riding, beach strolling, hammock laying, bed snoozing, coral snorkeling, smoothing sucking, volcano viewing, cheeseburger munching, sushi devouring, lei smelling, sandwich chomping, chocolate covered macadamia nut inhaling.... *gasps* TOO MUCH VACATION!!!!

Yet it would not be over. 1 week later I go to Lake Tahoe and go camping for 3 days with my dad and sister. IT WAS COLD. And we didn't really get to do all that much. The only thing I found enjoyable was firing up the kerosene lamp and portable stove every night. In fact, the most fun thing I did on the trip was pour some kerosene on a couple ant hills surrounding our camp site. That stuff burns for a LONG time.
After that I was taken to Reno airport to fly back to LA in California where I would be picked up at 8:30. Then I would get home, prepare all my school supplies until 10:30, and fall asleep for 7 hours upon which I would wake up at 5:30, take a shower, eat a meager breakfast, and arrive for my first day of junior year.

      THANK GOODNESS FOR SCHOOL!

Here on the Big Island there is quite a lot to do. There is a lot of really cool geologic activity like old lava flows and giant cinder cones. We moved to another hotel and I didn't have time to post all the pictures so a couple of them will be from the day before.

Anyway we went on a hike into a dormant caldera that has a lot of cool fauna and foliage. Here is a picture of the trail.
      DSCN1462.jpg

This is inside the caldera. In the background its pretty flat looking but just behind my mom who is taking this photo is a lot of very rocky terrain from lava that had exploded out of a giant vent in the caldera.
      DSCN1478.jpg

Here is a steam vent we explored. Steam is created from the rainwater that trickles into the cracks and is heated by rocks below that are near magma tubes. I think in the picture I'm recording a movie with my Flip Video recorder.
      DSCN1490.jpg

This is a different hike. This was cool because... well, its a lava tube!
      DSCN1496.jpg

Here is a map of the national park. Look how much is off limits. Very ironic.
      DSCN1502.jpg

This is sort of an inside joke.
      DSCN1513.jpg

We went to the observatory that was located on top of the dormant volcano which makes up most of the island. Thats a Celestron telescope behind us. Its the biggest I've ever seen and I estimate it to be around $10,000.
      DSCN1541.jpg

And what would a vacation be without an ATV tour! I wonder why this picture looks so familiar? *cough* Check my Bryce Canyon trip *cough*
      DSCN1556.jpg

Here is all my family. While we were riding it started to rain and after that we started going really fast which sprayed everyone with dirt. The effect was a thin layer of mud over all of us. Thats me with the lights on.
      DSCN1564.jpg

My face is so dirty it looks like a have stubble.

I'm currently in Hawaii for my family vacation. Its been really warm and damp which means it rains everyday. The cheeseburgers here are great but a little undersized so I have to order multiple ones. Anyway here are some pictures.

Here is me at the airport. Those Leis are $10 each but I had to buy one anyways for the novelty tourism factor.
      DSCN1303.jpg

Here is a beach we went to. Thats my sister on the right. I love this sunset.
      DSCN1321.jpg

We arrived at our first volcanic site. They try hard to keep people from dying.
      DSCN1417.jpg

Heres the lava that is pouring into the ocean.
      DSCN1436.jpg

Here is me at the Lava House which is the hotel we are staying at. Behind me is a caldera and a wonderful overlook point.

    • My Peru Trip

      Scaddadle

I finally got my pictures back that I took in Peru. I went on a missions trip that took me from Los Angles, California to Miami, Florida to Lima, Peru. Our job was to spread the story of Jesus Christ using a play or drama. The drama, called Spellbound, tells of the creation of the Earth and how sin entered into it, along with the crucifixion of Jesus.

But when we got back to the resort we did lots of fun stuff like swimming in freezing water and eating a PB & J sandwich that was half a foot thick. You know... teenager stuff.

This is one of the first things we saw in the gift shop when we arrived in Peru. Read the label carefully. I think there is about 2,000 cigarettes in each of those boxes.
      IMG027_2.jpg
This is the resort that we stayed at for the 10 days we were in Peru.
      IMG012_2.jpg
This is where we ate breakfast and dinner, under a giant tan circus tent.
      IMG010_2.jpg
I shared a "bungalow" with the other three guys on my team. This is our room after two days.
This is a picture of my team.
      IMG021_3.jpg
A picture of my team on the bus we used to go to communities.
      IMG024_2.jpg
All over Lima, Peru are these soccer/basketball courts located in communities that we can use for staging our drama. This is what it looks like before we perform.
      IMG005_2.jpg
Along with us are five translators. Sergio was my favorite. (blue vest)
      IMG004_2.jpg
Guess who is in the overalls! *cough* me *cough*
      IMG023_3.jpg
A school we performed at. Why is Kathleen always looking at me?
      IMG002_2.jpg
Everyone is pumped. Even the guy who never dances.
      IMG001_2.jpg
On one of our last days we had a birthday party. Anthony turned 18.
      IMG011_3.jpg
That night also happened to be wacky hair night...
      IMG012_3.jpg
On our last day together we visited the Indian Market! = P

I'm currently in iD Tech camp. Its pretty fun because I'm making my own 3d games involving lots of zombies and green light. I focus not so much on combat but on the scenery and enviroment. The whole place has a theme thats really cool and spooky. Sometime I even scare myself when a zombie appears right next to me.

I'm still waiting on those pictures from Peru. I have to run over to the drug store to pick them up. See ya!

    • Back from Peru!

      Scaddadle

Yes its finally great to be back home! You wanna know where I went after I left the airport? Mother of God, Mc Donald's yes!!! We take fast food for granted so much you would not believe it.

Anyways I'm going to tell everything about my trip later when I get my pics loaded on to my computer and then post them here. Check back later!

    • Back at Home and leaving for Peru.

      Scaddadle

So I'm back home from my trip to Zion and Bryce Canyon. Look at my journal to see the details. The trip back was 400+ miles in our little SUV compact that we rented and we made it back on one tank of gas even with the 5 stops we made. Its a lot cooler here in L.A. where the temp is only 80.

Me back in 2005 in Zion on top of Angels Landing.
      GoldsmithsZion.jpg
Me right now in 2008 in Zion on top of Angels Landing. (Holy shit! I grew like a weed! Must have been those chilidogs...)
      DSCN1024_2_2.jpg

But on Monday June 30th I will be leaving early to catch my plane to Miami where I will meet with hundreds of other teenagers and then be flown off to Peru for missionary work. I did it last year and it was very fun and interesting. But this time I'll be a bit more prepared. This year I took Spanish 1 class and I'm taking with me 3 boxes of power bars. Though the food they made for us was nice in Peru we still lacked some essential calories and learning a bit of Espanol will defiantly help me around the locals.

So I probably won't be online for the next 2 weeks unless I can find an internet cafe in Peru and hopefully make some updates on my trip. Hasta manana amigos! (see you later friends)

    • Today I went rock climbing in Zion.

    • Today I went to Bryce Canyon.

      Scaddadle

Bryce Canyon is a pretty cool place. Even though it is summer it only stays at about 80 degrees because of the altitude. We went down and hiked into what they call the Queen's Garden. Its a really awesome place. Period.

      Me and my sis.
      DSCN1182.jpg
This is my photo of the Queen's Garden from above where the parking lot is located. Those spires of rock are called "hoodoos." They are formed by wind and water erosion.
      DSCN1170.jpg
This was my favorite part of Bryce Canyon. We took an ATV tour of Bryce Canyon from on top of the plateau. Those little things go fast and have excellent maneuverability. Needless to say I didn't want to get off once the tour was over.

What some people just don't understand is that you can own/point/fire a gun and be perfectly safe AND legal. I have lots of guns and have never broken a law with one. To quote the great Ted Nugent, "If guns were supposed to kill people, all mine must be broke."

Don't worry about the What if the Flood really existed thread. It's over 10,000 posts. Once a thread gets that high, the mods cut it lots of slack. It may rarely be on topic (unfortunately) but it won't die.

    • Cutlasslord

Yup. I've tried almost everything I know of. I keep hoping that these little fuckers will get bored with it. It pisses me off that these bastards come in and ask for an update on our progress and bitch that their little nooblet fuck buddies haven't been on topic. Who do they think they are? We can't do much more about our mod point system. I've been actively sharing my opinion on it. I've even begged people to neg me for it my opinion on it. Seriously. What the fuck good does it do them to neg me when they don't agree?

    • Cutlasslord

Unfortunately, you are right... unless we get our old mod point system back, threads like our are lost. Before, I'd neg the noobs if they posted stupid shit. If they continued, I'd neg them into a negative Karma. That hurts. It's too damn bad these geniuses got rid of it (not trying to be insulting to RT. This website is about the coolest place on the interwebz but the mod system helped make it that.) It seems to me that they are trying to make everybody feel good about themselves. "Oh. It's ok. You aren't really a noob. Here have a bump in karma just for not being dead."

Because all Apple cares about is money. They refuse to provide customer service/product support that's even worth the effort. They sell products that are only compatible with Mac/Apple made software and parts. You can't upgrade a Mac. You can't even plug a non-Mac LCD projector into one. I work tech support on a college campus (but this doesn't mean that I like Microsoft either)

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.

      -Thomas Jefferson

The rights of this country are slowly but surely being taken away partially because people in power abuse their authority, whether the President or the local cop. The other main reason for this is because of a lack of knowledge or caring on the part of the citizens, but that's another topic altogether.
