When the Syrian crises was first kicking off and people got in uproar saying they didn't want to get involved after the people of Syria expected us to, as we did in Libya. And the MPs acting on the peoples wishes voted against action that the PM had proposed. I remember "War monger" and other things were shouted. So one hundred thousand deaths later from the ensuing civil war and IS taking advantage of the situation by burning, raping and pillaging while the world watches. The people ask for help and so many twats say "not our problem!" Fuck off we carved up the middle east in the first place, put stupid borders about, put evil people in charge and let dictatorships and persecution happen. We also limited the capabilities of these countries to police and defend themselves incase they could compete with us. The IS we allowed to spread has reached as far as Libya and Tunisia. Then the refugees start appearing, desperate to survive and you get assholes saying "Britain takes too much!" Piss off we take much less than the others but why should we? Remember the Kosovo crisis? People just want to be safe and go home when they can to be with their families and rebuild their lives. Why did the governments of Europe not have a plan? They must have clicked at some point there would be refugees? They weren't going to skip across the desert to countries that are likely to have similar struggles? They are of course going to prefer coming to our safe and secure europe. Europe where the poor have satellite television and benefits. To them surely we can spare a safe place to sleep and some of our food. We have enough of an obesity problem I'm sure we could spare some of our KFC buckets of chicken. We don't have to have electrical appliances turned on in every room, that alone would be enough to save the £20 it would probably cost us each from our taxes to fund a conflict changing move. Iraq went balls up in the past but this is different. It takes that wee boy found dead on a beach to get people motivated, well there could be over 300,000 dead from these conflicts now and we have the power to help. Uncle Ben knew it and why have children's comics teach the lesson "with great power comes great responsibility" when the adults are going to say "not our problem look after our own!" If you turn a blind eye and let a country full of extremists happen then you will have a problem. But never mind all those poor people who don't wish you any harm and die so that you don't have to share your bus or hospital or whatever the fuck you think you might lose to help a human.
A massive international response and plan is required to create safe areas at source. That will require UN troops in the area as unpalatable as that may be but without that we will have an unstoppable flood of refugees that no-one will be able to cope with. Turkey has taken in millions of refugees without a jot of help. Likewise Lebanon. And in Libya we still leave the warlords to their own devices. The Marshall plan in the 50s proves where there is a will there is a way. We need to help the refugees at source so they don't need to risk their lives in flight!
I'm sure all these highly educated politicians will come up with a really late answer to the problem. They just have to keep idiotic loudmouths happy. I wonder how quickly this situation would of been solved if they didn't have to worry about anti immigration parties or righties not wanting to help in the first place. I would like to slap the Hungarian leader. People are right in saying Europe can't cope with half the middle east but they will keep coming and like the Kosovo situation don't think they will stay once their homes stabilise and remain safe. Respecting a nations sovereignty is important but these nations foundations are wrong. For example the Kurdish people who get persecuted left right and centre because all those years ago those drawn up borders cut their lands in two. If a UN force does get involved (I personally think thats the only way this will end permanently, IS's expansion that is) there will need to be a process of some sort of autonomy for them and different peoples after all their fighting against IS. There needs to be a big political re think of the region. Och! I don't even know how to say what I think its just such a mess there and I have no right to say how it should be done just can't stand anymore of this nonsense on on social media, in the papers and from people i hear everyday. I myself have done little but donate to help. The thing is the european leaders need to show some balls and do what needs to be done. Ignore the flag waving xenophobes.
