    • How to Wash the Cat...

      Scragman

      1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.
      2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
      3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. You may need to stand on the lid.
      4. The cat will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.
      5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "power-wash and rinse".
      6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.
      7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.
      8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.
      9. Both the commode and the cat will be sparkling clean.

Ask my boss if I could leave early and was given the go ahead. Roads sucked and it took me about 2 hours to do a normal 1 hour trip. Picked up some flowers along the way (lightish red roses) for my better half. She loved 'em. She was also on her way out the door to go to work so I didn't get any pie in return.

Anywho, I'm gonna do some work from here, maybe play some WoW. Anywho, I'll talk to yall later.

Edit: Went downstairs to move my car for the guy who cleans out the apartment parking lot. Saw a yellow spot under the car. I think I musta caught a rock with my radiator. Fucksticks.

Edit again: research shows that the radiator will cost me about $125, then theres labor. Urg, I HOPE it's just a leak and not a sign of things to come. Blech.

is said to be receiving 20-30 inches of snow over the course of today and into tomorrow. Where I am now...4-8 inches. $@)%@#&*$^@#&$)#&%_+@!&!)$^(#*&^)!@#*^$!!!!!!!!! I WANT SNOW DAMMIT!!! North of me they're getting 12-20 inches, so I can always go up that way.

In other news, my el cheapo Microsoft mouse at work is fucking up. It'll be sitting there, untouched, and the curser will just jump around the screen randomly (at random periods of time). I think I'm gonna hit my boss up for a good logitech mouse.

Still haven't done my taxes. I think I'll print the forms off and ask my better half for a hand tonight. Speaking of her, I still need to get some flowers for her (hope the florists don't get snowed in). I was going to order them and have them delivered, but they want an arm, leg, and my first born child to deliver them "at such short notice". They'd probably fuck it up anyway, they did last year. FUCK YOU FTD!!!!

Anywho, it's time to get back to work. Talk to you all later if I don't end up in the ditch.

Heh, only in Kalifornistan would you expect this...

Edison's Light Bulb Could Be Endangered
      Friday, February 09, 2007

By DAVID PORTER, Associated Press Writer

      E-MAIL STORY PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION
EDISON, N.J. â€' One of the inventions that put this central New Jersey town on the map could go the way of the typewriter and the horse and buggy if some lawmakers have their way.

The incandescent light bulb, perfected for mass use by Thomas A. Edison in the late 19th century, is being supplanted by fluorescent lighting that is more efficient and longer lasting.

Last month, California Assemblyman Lloyd Levine announced he would propose a bill to ban the use of incandescent bulbs in his state.

And Thursday, New Jersey Assemblyman Larry Chatzidakis introduced a bill that calls for the state to switch to fluorescent lighting in government buildings over the next three years.

"The light bulb was invented a long time ago and a lot of things have changed since then," said Chatzidakis, a Republican from Burlington. "I obviously respect the memory of Thomas Edison, but what we're looking at here is using less energy."

Many states encourage their residents to replace their incandescent bulbs through a federal program supported by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency.

In New Jersey, the state where Edison acquired more than 400 patents for innovations such as the phonograph and electric railroad car, utility is trumping nostalgia. The state recommends switching to compact fluorescent lamps as part of its Clean Energy Program.

More than 1.2 million of the lamps and fixtures were distributed in 2005 through the program, according to the state Board of Public Utilities.

If the bulb's demise is on the horizon, Jack Stanley isn't ready to flip the "off" switch just yet.

"It's a convenient target. It's easy to see and easy to critique," said Stanley, curator of a museum that celebrates Edison's inventions in the town that has borne his name since the 1950s. "But think about the benefits and compare them to the drawbacks and your argument is already made."

Edison perfected the process of making the long-burning filaments used inside incandescent light bulbs so they could be mass produced.

Fluorescents, which create light by heating gases inside a glass tube, were developed in the early 20th century and sold publicly by the 1940s. They are generally considered to use more than 50 percent less energy and last several times longer than incandescent bulbs.

However, the mercury vapor inside fluorescents can damage the environment if the bulbs are broken, leading some states to require businesses that use large quantities of fluorescent lights to recycle them.

Even Stanley acknowledges that, more than 125 years after its invention, the day may be approaching when the incandescent bulb takes its place alongside Edison's original phonograph in the pantheon of revolutionary-but-outdated inventions.

"It's a 19th-century invention that was perfected in the 20th century," he said. "That's part of the evolution of all inventions."

Kalifornistan is becoming a bigger nanny state than it was before. I can't wait for it to fall off into the ocean.

Folks, I just got off the phone with a guy and felt like sharing something with you all. When you call tech support, please be nice. Don't be a smart ass or talk down to us, it doesn't help (even if we are asking the 'stupid questions'). I just got off the phone with some guy and after asking a few questions to better understand what was going on, he hits me with this:

"Well, I've been doing IT longer than you have, so you don't need to ask these questions, I've already tried that stuff."

Statements like that take my level of 'giving a shit' down to zero. I will no longer want to help you and will do my best to tell you that 'I'll look into it' or 'I'll pass this along to the administrator'. If I was capable, I'd start speaking another language. Maybe in a week or two I'll remember to pass the info along to someone else who might give a shit more than I do.

So to close, be polite to tech support. If you're calling us, that means you need our help. Telling us that we haven't got the experience you do is a sure fire way to end up doing it yourself...the hard way.

Stuff you know if you have an AR: When out of ammo, your rifle makes a great wiffle bat.

Stuff you know if you have a Mosin Nagant: When out of ammo, your rifle makes a supreme war club, pike, boat oar, tent pole, or firewood.

Teacher could get 40 years for porn pop ups

This sounds like more "For the Children!" bullshit.

Anyway, as an IT pro, I can say that sometimes you don't need to visit a porn website to get porn pop-ups. If you get the spyware on your system, the host controlling it will send whatever images it wants to the infected PC. You could be browsing for bibles and get porn pop-ups.

This once again looks like the touchy feely crowd needing to blame someone for something that happened. So remember folks, everything is an accident until a child is involved, then it's a fucking disaster of epic proportions and someone WILL catch hell over it (regardless of it being an accident).

      Thats just my two cents.

    • update...

      Scragman

Haven't been posting as many journals as I usually do and I felt that it was time for another update.

Saturday I had my bowling ball (ten pin) drilled and I picked up some bowling shoes. I bowl every Wednesday (candle pin) and often every other weekend, so having my own ball (for when I go ten pin bowling) and shoes will make a difference.

A new job opened up at work in my department. It's a management position that supervises the technicians, creates desktop/laptop software images, manages software contracts, etc., so it's a step in the right direction for me (plus a substantial pay increase). I'll be submitting my resume today.

The K31 still needs some sanding, but it's just about ready to be stained and finished. I'll be picking up the steel wool I need today to finish the project, then I'll post pics. I have some before and after shots.

Picked up a bit of a cold, so I feel kinda crappy. Leaving work early is good though. I'm gonna go home, take a nap, then do laundry and hopefully finish sanding my rifle stock.

So that it in a nutshell. Hopefully things work out for me. Talk to ya later.

But after some thought I figured out that I liked the M16 more then any other gun I fired before(cept when I went to Germany, that G36 was da bomb.)... Only because it had a burst setting. Otherwise, the AK(civvie), FAL(civvie), G3(civvie), and Ruger Mini 14 I fired would take top spots, in that order.

Yeah, I can generally sniff the fakes out. Don't know how, but you can usually tell. Yep, components in the class are good. DPMS barrels, and pretty much whatever from Bushmaster and RRA. Apparently Armalite won't sell their shit except as full rifles, so none of that. I'm pretty confident that it'll turn out very well. You end up with 10 people in the class about like 3-4 dedicated armorers working with you to make sure you get exactly what you want. I'm pretty stoked! Gonna have to start researching what I want. The bitch of always having been issued an A2 is that faced with choices, I have no clue! smiley8.gif

Hitting much of anything at 300 yards unless it's a full-size silhouette is a challenge for me. Might be easier shooting a 7.5x55 in your K31 though! Just got done reading the wikipedia entry on those. Sounds like a great rifle! One for collection later methinks... I know you're doing a bunch of work on it, but what'd you pay for yours up front?

As much as I like the flower thing, I dunno if it'll work. The school wont allow that kinda stuff ( honestly, last year a kid gave his girlfriend a HUG and both got detention...fucking LAME), and she only likes one kind of flower...Gerbera Daisies. She detests roses, and most bouquets for V-Day is full o' roses...and large. If I were to send it to school, I want it to be small.

Again, Im stuck between a rock and a very hard, solid, and un-movable hardplace....

That's a year and a half away. We want to do it right, and have lots of time to prepare and save for it.

For the most part we have a pretty good idea what we want.

      Outdoor ceremony, indoor reception.

Late morning/early afternoon ceremony, and afteroon/evening reception.

I already have my tux picked out, and I have a good idea what kind I want my groomsman to have.

It's probably going to be two groomsman/bridesmaids with us.

      A simple non-religious ceremony....
