Well, still in the Air Force. Still in Wichita Falls Texas. I'm married...for over a year now. Um, I'm building a new Battlebot? I guess that's worth mentioning.

I've joined the United States Air Force and am engaged.
Contrary to what Tucker says, women aren't like Voltron. The more you can hook up, the more disappointed they get is what really happens..
I have EVERY. RvB DVD now. :|
:3 any love from my old friends that don't talk anymore?

Awesome as usual.
Hotel room was pretty rad. Got lots of sweet swag, Pictures soon. I'm lazy right now, just got done GRINDING IN HELLO KITTY ONLINE. YEAH BOY.
lol..then I got banned because my friends and I were being "inappropriate".
Right now - I'm watching The Maid. It's a horror film from singapore from 2005.
It's kinda like The Grudge, but more trippy.
I haven't been doing much, just working out, working on building stuff, working at...well working, and working on school. Gearing up with my final year at this school - transferring to another one after.
I know updates are sparatic but thats what my live journal is for.

So I'm canceling on Sakuracon, just going to go to Emerald City Comicon.
But check out my costume I got!
It was all commissioned and with good reason.
Look, with cosplay you have two spectrums.
Low end cosplay and high end cosplay.
95% are in the middle
the low end cosplay, where it's obviously cheap and for shits and giggles. It's passable, it's like "AH HA! I see what you did there"
And High end cosplay is EXPENSIVE. Scouting for the proper materials to bring a costume to life.
People end up in the middle because they don't want to spend TOO much money.
And only low and high are acceptable. Low is acceptable because you're not trying. High is because you're perfect. Middle of the road, it just creates this weird effect of almost. You're putting effort but not enough.
Another thing people don't realize is ranger cosplays are harder than an average anime cosplay. This is because anime/video games/comics you're bringing a 2D character to 3D. And thus people are more forgiving with the minor things. If you see an average ranger cosplayer, you think to yourself - looks good...but something is off. Either their helmet isn't cast off the ones from the show so it looks of, etc. You're not bringing something to live, you're replicating something. A much harder fact. Think - whats harder, copying something or perfectly replicating something? like an exact 1:1 duplicate. That's what you're trying with a ranger, but with say a sailor scout or master cheif - you're making something not real - real. It's simple psychology.
So let's break this down.
The helmet was by Herocosplay.com I have a red ranger suit from there and don't recommend them. It's cheap spandex and pleather. But most of their helmets are made with molds cast off of screen used props. So that creates a perfect replica. I posted in a previous journal a picture of my hero cosplay suit. Compare them. But that wasn't me in the picture - he only sells 10.5 size boots for example. Basically - it did not fit.
cost for the helmet? 385 after shipping
The gloves are imported from Japan. They're real leather. Pure goat skin. Most people just wear some white gloves, they forget the patch on the inside of the glove and the ribs on the knuckle.
Cost for the gloves? 130 shipped.
Now the rest of the suit - I had commissioned in Thailand by a costumer named Sushiya. I've talked about him in the past. The company that makes Power Ranger costumes in Japan (Toei) owns the rights to the fiber composition for the Lycra blend they use for the suits.
But sushiya has access to the blend most similar that is avaibile to the public. Also unlike a herocosplay.com suit - the diamonds are inset. Basically the suit is sewn together rather than the diamonds sewn on top.
The cuffs and belt (black lines too) and boots are leather. Some nice nice leather. The diamonds on the boots and cuffs and the holster for the gun - leather. The shin support and arch support that people tend to skip over because it's white and you don't notice until you look at high resolution photos of the suits (not from the show but from the set) are on there. Another advantage I have over a standard ranger cosplayer.
That together was 480
The morpher, is a stunt morpher from prop maker Buzzs_Room and it has the sharpest details on a power coin on the market. About 40 dollars.
and the gun isn't your american Blade Blaster. The blade blaster was black and red and the show was White and red. The Japanese toy (used on the US show for the prop) is what I'm using. That in box set me back 75 dollars.
Total? $1,110.00 USD
And I look better than 95% of other ranger cosplayers.
I'm an absolutist. If I'm going to do something, I'm going to go all the way and do it right. I went the cheap way with a ranger suit before and you look like a goof ball.

Alright, so Sakuracon this year I'm going as Red Ranger and Space Sheriff Shaider.
The Helmet - is casted from a show used helmet. Meaning the helmet, full fiber glass and painted helmet with clasps and plexiglass visor will be SHOW ACCURATE.
The suit, is being made by Aniki, and I'm having him add darker lines to the belt like the show, and adding a holster for my blade blaster.
My gloves are leather, so are my cuffs. Basically - It's going to look like I stepped right off the set of the show. :)
That's going to set me back $905USD
Aniki runs Herocosplay.com, he's a great guy. really nice. Kinda slow on the communication side though.
I'm having another guy, this one in Thailand, who goes by Sushiya, make me a Space Sheriff Shaider costume.
He wants 1,550 for it.
there's a suit he hand made. Yeah. I trust this guy with 1,500 dollars xD
He's including Shaider's sword, and he can make the eyes light up like the show.
If my Shaider suit comes in nice (I have no doubt it will!), My next two are
Kamen Rider Kiva
And the Shadow Borg.
I'm not sure which one I want more though.
But I have plenty of time to figure that out. xD
School starts pretty soon. I want this year to get done so I can transfer to Evergreen State College. Hurray Liberal Arts.
