    • Looking for some books

      SilverMoose

      Hey RT!

Hope you're well. I am currently on a mission, to find two books from my childhood. The problem is, I remember very little about these books. So I'm posting some info here on the off-chance that someone who sees this knows more about it.

The first is a story about a boy, who had a pot of petunias. He lived on the 86th floor, and dropped them one day. That's all I remember.

The second is about a detective, but it was in a world of anthropomorphic characters. The detective was a cat, looking to find a lost kitten, and at the end of the day, he found the kitten in an aquarium. The fish-zoo type, not the fish-home type.

**EDIT**: This story may have had gypsy cats, or a cat with a crystal ball.

FOUND IT! :D It is Sam Sunday and the strange disappearance of Chester Cats. Boom shakalaka.

If either of these sound familiar, please let me know if you know anymore than what I've posted.

    • Amazon is acting Sketchy.

      SilverMoose

I currently have an amazon wishlist, that I use to bookmark things that I either can't afford at the moment, want to think about before I actually buy, or can afford but can't justify (like as awesome as a root beer making kit is, it's cheaper to just buy root beer). So I let these things sit in my wishlist until I decide to buy them.

After a while, I noticed that some of these things would change prices. Sometimes they would go down, sure, but sometimes they would go up. I thought it was a little shady at first, so I started documenting the changes in the notes. When I add something, I'll leave a note saying how much it cost when I added it, and then if it goes any lower, I'll add a note saying how low it got on what day.

So today I decided to impulse buy Scribblenauts Unlimited, which is $10. You get free shipping if your cart is $25 or more, so I decided to look at my wishlist for anything that could make up the difference. That's when I noticed this:

      amazonlies1_zps6ae12383.png

      And also this:

      amazonlies2_zps0728bb7c.png

They say that the price it was when I added it to my wishlist was lower than the price I said it was when I added. Now, sometimes I'll forget to do this when I add something, go back later, so I thought maybe that was the case. BUT, if you look back, they say that the day I added it was later than the date I actually did.

For example, let's say I added something to my wishlist a month ago, but forgot to put any notations. I go back today, realize my mistake, and would say that I added it today, and note today's price. And if I forget to say how much it cost when I added it, and it goes lower (ex: "Item is now $15. Was $17 when added), I'll take them at their word that it was the price they said it was when added (ex: I'll trust it was actually $17 when I added it).

So there are quite a few things here that don't add up. And of course, I'm sure this only comes off as the crazy ramblings of a random internet woman, but keep this in mind when you next go to amazon. They're not honest.

--Edit: I have now listened up to podcast 170--

    • What is your favourite RT podcast?

      Hi all,

I was catching up to the RT podcasts, I think I made it to 165, but I don't remember, so now I'm going back and trying to figure out which ones I've heard.

Also, long story short, I need to download a few, as I'll be doing something in the near future, that will be both long and boring. Yay! So I need something to listen to.

Since I have no clue what episode I'm on, and a few journals ago I said I definitely finished the 100th episode, I wanted to ask everyone here: What is your favourite RT podcast of the first 100?

Thanks for the share! How have you been? (Feel free to share random story in the comments, with or without podcast recommendation).

      This. This is a catloaf.

      2. The word "jobbie," as in, "Put the box next to the kitchen-jobbie".

      3. If you go to Joel's page, that gift of a cat in space.

      4. Have you seen those Allstate commercials, staring Mayhem? He also has a facebook page. His status updates.

      5. I had a professor who referred to hamster wheels as treadmills. That always makes me smile.

      SilverMoose

      Hello everyone!

I hope the New Year has been treating you well so far, and that you have been enjoying both the holidays and the fact that the apocalypse did not happen.

I wanted to share with you a few things from my own life. The first is an apology for this journal. When I posted that, I had already written it once, closed out of the page, and was pissed that I had to rewrite. When I read it later, it came off as more pretentious than I had intended, which was not my intention. I was just bored and wanted to share a video, and didn't want to type.

I also wanted to share this picture:

      Squirrel_zps6effada0.jpg

This is the squirrel I pet! smiley0.gif Or at least, I think it is. It was backing out of that pipe, and I pet it twice. Then I ran upstairs to get my camera; when I came back, this squirrel was there, so I assumed it was the same one.

And then finally, I wanted to share with you this video:

Sorry, I didn't know how to embed it smiley7.gif

It's of me (*gasp!*) training my cat to give me a high five.

      Happy New Years, Everyone!

I just started, and never finished The Thursday War sadly. Arkham City is a fantastic game. I didn't get back into it though, I finished everything and there's just nothing to do. I want to try to get into RPGs, I'm going to finish Mass Effect 1. I want to play the whole series but wow it feels like a daunting task.

When are you going to get into games? You sound like a Nintendo kinda gal. Specifically 3DS kind of material. Do you have one?

      • SilverMoose

Ooh, cool! I've never read the GoT series, but I heard its great! How is Arkham City? I heard it was good. Is it good?

Hmm, I'm not even sure. I am a boring person IRL. I am trying to get back into reading though.

A friend is going to lend me the Game of Thrones books up to the current title (I believe) but I'm going to try to finish The Thursday War, a Halo novel, before I get into the GoT novels. In the video game world I'm playing Resident Evil 6. . . ALONE! D: and then probably get back into Batman: Arkham City. Although I do still have a copy of Hitman reserved that I never picked up lol

      • SilverMoose

Yeah, I read about that not too long ago. Good point.

Um, knitting and crocheting is a big one. I also enjoy painting, trying to teach myself it, lol. What are your hobbies? I know tea is one, lol. Magic the gathering is another, lol.

      • _Recon_

I just needed more context in my words

Ah, but my dear Recon, you misunderstand me.

Makes me feel like we should be in some steampunk/victorian type setting, being top-hat fancy.

I have no other words for DRM/piracy stuff. I don't think there will ever be reduced DRM as long as pirates pirate and reducing DRM unfortuantely won't help anyone but pirates. Recently a dev company made a game and then put up a "cracked" version on a torrent which was actually a broken version that won't allow the player to win

The game is DRM free and at the time of the developers blog this is how much of the games being played were actual versions vs pirated versions 1day.png

Yeah, he goes on to say that "I know that some people just don’t even think about buying games. They will immediately search for a cracked version." and mentions how they still have yet to draw a salary.

Here's the link to his blog, it's a good read and not very long.

I'm jealous about you being about to graduate! I still have a while to go and wow, I am feeling it. A part of me really just wants to start working and not even worry about school until I have enough money to be able to support myself. What are you going to do once you get your diploma papers and things? The first thing I would do is have a celebratory tea. Cuz tea.

Other than that things are just kinda slow right now. After next week I'll be done with classes. On the other hand the new set for Magic the Gathering just came out and I have no money :C.

You know what Moose, I realize I don't even know what you're hobbies are. Tell them to me!

And dude! That's amazing! I'm totally jealous! What's the first thing you're going to do when you get your official papers? Drink some tea? That's what I'd do.

      • SilverMoose

Ah, but my dear Recon, you misunderstand me. My goal in this isn't to reduce piracy, but rather to reduce DRM.

I feel that the main reason companies use DRM is to combat piracy, since they don't want to lose money. My proposal is that if they lower the price of a pre-order compared to a newly released game, then more people will pre-order, they'll see more money sooner, and thus won't fear piracy as much, and thus can remove the DRM, because they know they won't lose money on it.

Yeah, I heard about games not being available in certain areas. At that point piracy is the only option, because no matter where you throw your money, it won't result in you getting what you want.

Nah, no new job. Still doing finals. I'm about to graduate! :O

        How have you been?

      • _Recon_

Ha! Piracy is weird. If the premise is that people steal because they can't afford something that could be useful but the unfortunate truth is that some pirate because they don't have access normally, don't want to pay, or just because they can. A game comes out, all there needs to be is one copy to be shared before it spreads like an epidemic, after all, why pay $40-$60 when you can get it for free?? In this case, I say that gaming is a luxury. If you can't pay you can't play. That sounds bad, but games go under years and years of development, worth thousands or millions of dollars. It's unfortunate that everyone can't play every game but that's life. I didn't get my own 360 until 2 years ago, I know what it's like to be one the outside completely.

Other times games aren't available in certain regions even though they are willing to pay! This is unfortunate and a gray area. I'm not sure what to think on this.

Ok, that's all I have to say on that lol Did you get a new job?

      • SilverMoose

See, I was thinking the opposite; that a known-franchise could use it as a guarantee they'll make money, so they don't have to do stuff like DRM to prevent pirates. Although, after thinking it over, your way might work better, lol.

      • _Recon_

It's horrible, I'll never tell. Ever.

I highly doubt that would ever happen, ever, since games cost so much time and money to make. BUT! Companies do something similar to reward pre-orders and essentially buy their game before it's out. Many times publishers will give a complimentary upgrade to the Limited Edition or offer pre-order all the time.

If a publisher did do that, that would be absolutely amazing and would sell pre-orders like hotcakes, given that the previews and videos look fun and compelling.

I think it could only be done with a new series though, if it's a popular series that could be a HUGE mistake. Imagine if the next Call of Duty did something like that, it could be a few days or even weeks for someone to be able to get their copy (that they've already paid for), and that could have a huge backlash. Since some don't bother pre-ordering and don't buy a game until they actually have the money which could be months down the road. Not to mention, the publisher and dev-company could potentially take a huge loss in profit, again, if that's with a popular series.

So yeah, I think that would be awesome, but only that a new IP could do it.

      • SilverMoose

        Oooh! What is it?

That's cool. Good luck with whatever happens :D

Eh, I have an on campus job, but I'm going to be graduating, so I need a real job, lol.

Now, also, random question: I'm sure you've heard of games using DRM to combat piracy. Tell me what you think of this: say a standard game comes out at $60. What if companies said "Look, we're trying to make a profit despite piracy existing. So here's what we're offering: you can pre-order the game at $40. We're hoping this will make it more accessible for more people. We will then release the game at launch/in stores, where the price will be $60. We're rewarding your loyalty with a discount, however if you're interested in waiting for the game to come out, you can still buy it, but at regular price."

What would you think of that?

Idk, classes have just been really taking up a lot of my time and keeping me up. Just a few more weeks and we'll be done. As much as I just want to stop and relax and I want to finish my work, so it's been weird. I can't wait until I'm done with classes though. After this semester I'm thinking of making a change, so we'll see how that goes.

Well, my friend's gf was heating up some oil for frying chicken, it started popping over onto the stove and fire happened. I smothered it, it turned back on, smothered it again, and decided to get it off the stove. Then it caught fire again!! It was too hot and I dropped it [AAAHHH!] The fire's still in the pan and it's going strong. The gf throws water on it and makes it worse lol. Flames get huge! Friend goes out to the shed to get the fire extinguisher, but I know it's not going to be fast enough. I find a thick towel, completely smother the pan and it puts out the fire. We wait a while to remove it.

The pan burned a ring onto the towel, the fire completely melted off the Teflon (and it was a new pan!), and now there are two burn marks on the floor.

Then we started laughing about it all. Good times. They're keeping the towel for memories.

Did you ask her to bring you back some cheese? LOAD IT UP!! Lol.

Yeah, I had a similar situation when I changed middle schools; my guidance counselor was giving me a mini-orientation, and she went through my schedule, saying "Oh, he's a great teacher, oh she's fantastic, you'll love all your teachers." Then I got to class, and the girls took my schedule; "Yeah, he's pretty cool... ugh, not him, he's so boring...." etc. I decided to side with the girls, because they knew the teachers in the same way I would know them; student-teacher, not as colleagues.

Haha, no, it's a normal question, and the answer is yes. I don't know the girl/guy teacher ratio, though, for me it's been maybs 50-50?

      • _Recon_

The teacher was going to Wisconsin (I think). I hear they have cheese there. She left us an important assignment as a parting gift though. She's pretty strict. Her class is on the far side of the campus and doesn't tolerate tardiness. I'm never taking a professor recommendation from another prof again.

It's nice. The weather is schizophrenic; it was snowing a few days ago, and now it's like spring. The people can vary in friendliness, and drive 80 in a school zone. You can get to and from urban areas to woody areas within pretty shorts amount of time.

And I ended up changing my schedule a billion times, so I'm taking Intro to Theatre Design, Horticulture+lab, Women's Sexuality, How the Internet works and Interactive web documents. But the only 4 cred is theatre, and I'm taking the majoirty of the semester pass/fail, lol.

      • _Recon_

I don't think so. . . I'm doing a speech course and a gov't course. Retaking College Algebra, I passed it the first time but I wanted a better grade cuz dat GPA, and after some transfer-fudgings I don't have my Eng 1 cred but I do have my Eng II cred, so I'm taking Eng I (I could call and probably get it sorted out, but since I like english and GPA so I wanted to take that again too, plus, if I had problems transferring it once I probably would again if I decided to transfer again).

Yes! They just started today. I need to get a book and have to do like readings and some other homework. Curse you personal Responsibility!

Bob's burgers is alright. And that's cool about VM, I had heard about it, but never actually seen it.

So Recon! Have classes started for you?

      • _Recon_

Is that was that was? I know Bob's Burgers was/is a show but I've never watched it. I didn't know what to make of that. Veronica Mars was fantastic, ran about 3 seasons. It had something for everyone! Soap drama, murder mystery, and witty jokes! I didn't watch it until it was all over but I think it holds up, I still watch it when I see it on.

      • SilverMoose

I didn't care for the Bob's burgers crossover at first, but I got over it quickly, lol, and really enjoyed it. I never watched VM, how was it?

Classic Archer! And I love those over-arcing mysteries and can't wait to see how Archer forgot his memory. Reminds me of the days when I used to watch Veronica Mars. What'd you think?

      • SilverMoose

Haha, I meant to say google. Major fail on my part.

Yeah, book shopping will be fun. I usually don't buy mine until after I get the syllabus, which of course makes the first bookless week fun, lol.

And it totally did! smiley0.gif What did you think of it?

      • _Recon_

Actual good? I'm gonna guess you meant to say page.

Anywhoo, got my books together, still need to see if I actually need one though. Have to wait until I actually have the class though. Right now I'm just passing the time playing MTG. Archer's season premier comes on today I think, can't wait!

      • SilverMoose

That's smart, and I'm in a similar position. Last semester, so the nice little nest egg I've been saving is about to be cooked; paid off some school fees (waiting for it to go through), then graduation-related expenses. Blech! Hope you can go, meet the team smiley0.gif

And I at first thought that was the actual good, lol smiley7.gif But I love it, its hilarious! smiley0.gif

      • _Recon_

I still need to get my ticket unfortunately. I'm waiting to see how much I have left after I get all my books. I'm really confident I'll be able to but I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch.

I found out about this site. It changes text on the page. I can't stop lauging because of how silly everything is, and I can't imagine having conversations like this. Like so!

Haha, are you going to this RTX?

      • SilverMoose

Ahhh! Don't get me started with classes! smiley7.gif But thank you for the reminder that I too have fees to pay.

I want to go to RTX, that will be my first vacation after I get a real job. I hope you can go! smiley0.gif

      • _Recon_

Oh. . . . . . . . . You know. Getting ready to start classes pretty soon. Still need to get my books but all the school fees are done, AND I may even be able to save enough to be able to go to RTX smiley11.gif So I'm feeling pretty awesome right now. How about you? Feeling awesome? Maybe possibly planning on going to RTX? You know Texas is pretty awesome right?

And that was a smart move. Nothing much here; I've been playing sims instead of looking for a job, so maybe now that I've told you, I can feel guilty and start looking for a job again. What's up? What's new with you?

        Hot. I've been very hot.

Summer has started for all the K-12 kids here too, so, there will be more kids running around. Meh. I've gotten better at not spending all my monies and keeping it steady at what it is now (not much). How about you?

      • SilverMoose

        So SilverMoose. How go things!

Did you end up getting things?

      • SilverMoose

Yes, cats, lol. And hamsters. And squirrels, even though they aren't pets, lol

Either way, dead or not, I prefer my extremities attached to me.
How will I wave to other spirits in the afterlife!?

And what about you? If I had to guess I'd say cats or bunnies.

Haha. I think that only happens after you've been chilling dead for a while....

      • _Recon_

        My favourite pet?

I have always liked dogs personally. Not like a rottweiler or bulldog though. I have always wanted a Husky. Because c'mon, that's as close to a pet wolf as you can get.

I don't have a problem with cats though, just something bothers me about them scheming to kill me then eat me when I'm dead smiley8.gif

That's true though, a cat will eat it's owner after they have passed. Plus, cats get grudges easier than dogs I think.

What will your Sponsor Title be?

      • SilverMoose

Done. One 4 page paper due on the 7th, and then 19 pages worth of papers due on the 12th.

And I swear, if you mention how long that seems I will MURDER YOU THROUGH THE INTERNET! lol, jk. But I do hate it when people do that; I'm stressed enough without your help, lol.

ALSO: I will renew my sponsorship in time for season 10 of RvB. That I have decided :D

      • _Recon_

Yes. Just this next week and BAM!! No more classes.

        Howbout you?

      • SilverMoose

        Haha, 'saaaaaallllll good.

And yes! RT community events, and do like a Rooster Feast thing, lol.

NICE! Are classes almost over for you?

      • _Recon_

You know how sometimes you respond in your head, and then realize you didn't actually respond. . .

Yeah, I get it. I can relate, not going into it, but I understand. It's probably just the stress really. You know, "like, exams and shit" lol. Not getting that job may a way for you to punish yourself because of something else that you feel bad for. Or something.

But remember SilverMoose! You are in charge of your own good time.

And it would be awesome. RTX, community, events!

In my life you ask? Right now I'm doing this project from this site or actually I'm done, it's just rendering. Next I'm doing an animation of some sort for our final project.

      • SilverMoose

Dude, you're pretty good. Like when you guessed what part of the country I live in, lol.

So, there's a long story to answer your question. I looked it up on urbandictionary, and apparently what I'm feeling is my Marty McFly Complex. Or I call it being rebel without a cause, which isn't a reference to the movie, but accurately describes the situation (I'm being rebellious to a non-existent problem).

As you might remember from last year, I worked at my school's reunion, and had an ... interesting time. I'm working again this year, and am already dreading it. But when I think about why I'm so pissed off, it's not because of anything legit; I feel like I'm owed something, when that is NOT the case, not even a little bit. I mean, I interviewed poorly for this job, so it's great that I'm working it at all, but I've been treating it with this sense of entitlement.

Like, there are three positions I applied for; Position 1, Position 2, Position 3, in order of importance and pay. So I keep thinking "Why did [Girl I dislike] get a Position 1 job? I interviewed for it. I DESERVE it more. They OWE it to me, and they're BASTARDS for not giving it to me." When I SHOULD be thinking "Hey, I got a job that pays a little more than the one I'm actually qualified for, and despite that fact that I did not interview well for Position 1, I didn't get a Position 3 job, so I'm breaking even in life." And it's weird; I've recognized my own bias blind spot (to a point), and I'm like "Do I always go through life with this undeserved sense of entitlement?" But I can't really answer that question because of the BBS, lol. Like, in my third link, I realized that I totally should have moved out of my room earlier. I stand by my rant, and that that DIC handled the situation poorly, but it's got me thinking.

Plus, like, exams and shit. Lol.

On a separate note: I think I'm going to try to go to a future RTX. I have been catching up to the podcast, and they talk about a lot of interesting things there, so I thought "I should go there." And then I thought "I should go there when there are RT-related events going on!" (Because I've contemplated going to RTO in the past, but that never happened). So maybe I'll see there one day, lol.

How about YOU, Recon? What's going on in YOUR life?

      • _Recon_

Ah I'd just be taking a stab in the dark.

        what if I asked nicely?

      • SilverMoose

Haha, I think I am. But tell me, what kind of distracted do I seem like?

      • _Recon_

So what's up SilverMoose, you seem distracted lately. And not in the "i'm just busy" kind of distracted.

      • SilverMoose

Haha, future me would so do that.

      • _Recon_

Yeah or that. Or maybe, "is there something I shouldn't do?"

Or what if our future selves were just messing with us and said something impossibly cryptic but meant nothing lol

      • SilverMoose

Haha, I don't know. I think maybe "Are you happy?" But that might be too open-ended. Maybe then I'd cop out, "Do you have a family?"

      • _Recon_

I ask, "Do I need to change my current plans for the future to something else?"

I'm slowly applying to a summer camp. Super stressed about LIFE. So let's not talk about that, let's talk about fun stuff instead.

Imagine you got a call from yourself from the future. You can ask your future self ONE question, and it has to have a definitive answer (no open-ended questions, eg "What's the future like?"

        What do you ask?

      • _Recon_

Oh it was SilverMoose, it was. . .

What's new? How goes the new job hunt

      • SilverMoose

Haha, indeed it was. And that sounds like a pretty intense burrito.

      • _Recon_

Yes! Maybe. Last week my friend, Aaron from the Zune deal if you remember, his gf, and I went to a restaurant so he could try the challenge of eating this absolutely GINORMOUS burrito full of meat and beans and rice. It's the size of 4 burritos, they have to special make the tortilla to put it in because it's so big lol

So last week we went so he could try to eat it all in 30mins or less. He didn't lol He ate about half. So this week we're all gonna hang out again and maybe go there again to see if he can finish it. I tried to take a picture, but sadly, the picture just doesn't do it justice.

        Also games.

Ah I forgot to mention, that's pretty awesome that you want to get little baby passports (I was thinking the same thing about the size haha) and start families. Err-- be the mediator to helping people start families. That was worded better that time right?

      • SilverMoose

Haha, omg, pokemon would be awesome!!!

And that's cool. And I've got no follow ups, lol. Weekend plans?

      • _Recon_

I would want a good piece of land in TX outside the city.
        And raise pokemon.
Travel to Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn.

If not those things then, still the land here in TX . I'd want to go. . . . Everywhere! Idk, maybe Japan and Italy and somewhere in country. Like Orlando

      • SilverMoose

Haha, NO, I do NOT want a baby. I want to give other people these international children. I haven't done enough research on it, but I think I can do something administrative, ie filing for baby passports. Tee hee, I'm thinking of little mini passports

So, for the question: what hobbies (fun shit) do you want to pick up? For example, I would want pets. A cat, a hamster, maybe a dog or maybe a turtle. I would knit, crochet, maybe exercise more.

And top three places you would travel to.

      • _Recon_

Hmm. . . I'm not sure I quite understand what you're saying. Can you say it again?

Oh as in you want a baby, I was thinking you did that process for other people for some reason.

      • SilverMoose

Nice! Now, let's assume that you're at the perfect level, where you can pay off all your bills, and you're doing doing your dream job YET, but you're quite happy with your life. If you can take 3 trips (in country or abroad) a year, where do you go/what do you do?

Also, what on-going fun shit do you want to do? lol

International adoption is a lot of migration work, takes several months to a few years, depending. But you apply, they check your home, they find you a baby, paperwork to bring it home, and yay! New family!

      • _Recon_

Dude, I just want to do fun shit too! lol

And yeah. I'd want job to = hobby-founder

        And yes, computer science.

        How does international adoption work?

      • SilverMoose

Haha, I had a similar situation with my parents, except they never quite escaped it.

I've wanted to work with international adoption as a career. As for personal life, I want to be able to travel, and just do fun shit. I kinda expect my job just to be my hobby-funder, lol.

And I ask because I'm curious, lol. You major in something related to computers, right?

      • _Recon_

Lol You may have a point, what should I do, have cheaper tastes or make more money? Hmm. . .

What do I want to do? What do I want to do??

Hmm. . . Idk. I'm still figuring out the details. I do know what I don't want to do though. It may sounds a little sad I guess, but, my parents work really hard to support the family. I'm not going to go into the details but they were both dealt a pretty crappy hand in life, and I have absolutely no idea how we got to where we are now and are able to do the stuff we do and go to the places we go. I know I don't want to have to relive the things they went through to get here and I know I want to continue moving forward; the first step in doing it is completing a college education, something that they were both unable to do.

        I didn't know you cared smiley8.gif
        Why do you ask?
        & What about you SilverMoose?

You're kind of an evil genius, aren't you? You just need to make slightly more money, or have slightly cheaper tastes, and OH MY GOD! lol

What do you want to do when you leave school? Do you know? And this isn't a question like "I just want to get a job in this economy" what do you WANT to do?

      • _Recon_

Well that's pretty awesome that she did! Are you leaving that job knowing a bunch of secret recipes n stuff

Are you going to sell sandwiches on the blackmarket campus for extra monies?

In high school I would sell Stride for a dollar (even to teachers!) and use it to buy tea during lunch lol Ironically, I'd make $2 profit (if I sold an entire package) but tea was 50c a day. So in the end I'd lose 50c a week. *shrugs* I love tea to a loss you could say.

But! I did sell gum to people. Sweet Berry did not sell at all btw haha

      • SilverMoose

Haha, thank you. And I'm hoping, but I have good feelings, since my old boss openly suggested that she would be interested in giving me a recommendation.

Also, I read your title as "Ack Unlocked," (pronunciation wise) and I think you speak German. Teehee.

      • _Recon_

        No! smiley4.gif

But I figured since you hadn't mentioned it or written a journal about it. Congrats. . . ?

Maybe you can you get your old boss man to be a reference for your new one

      • SilverMoose

Alright. Spring Break is over, looking for work over the summer. I want to be a cook/kitchen assistant/dishwasher at a summer camp, but the applications ask for references to prove that you're good with kids. Which is stupid, because dishwashing =/= interacting with kids.

OH! Did I ever tell you I quit the cooking job?

      • _Recon_

        Yeah. idk either.

So, how are things going so far. How's the jobz.

      • SilverMoose

Haha, in theory I could get my pay deducted for tuition, but, alas, I don't, lol.

        And yes.

Yeah, I knew a girl, one of her parents worked for Duke, so they paid 80% of her tuition. I dunno. *shrug* lol

      • _Recon_

Ah. . . For some reason I was thinking that you worked there and you have the opportunity to school there. Then you wouldn't have to pay tuition (or something along those lines)

But you go to school there and have the opportunity to work there (workstudy).

I have a friend that goes to my previous private university, his mom works there and he doesn't have to pay (an expensive) tuition like I did. The funny thing is he's still getting as much FinAid as if he wasn't. And he somehow has about as much debt as I do. . . Actually, I think that's how he bought his car lol
It's a used car, but still a decent one.

      • SilverMoose

I get 80% grants, 20% loans, and then when I work I get paid and that's my own money.

        Why? What's up?

      • _Recon_

You know how you work at your college?

Do you get a discount off tuition or anything else at all?

One bibliography for each source? WOAH.

        And yeah, sure, what's up?

      • _Recon_

        It's been one week. . .

Ah sorry for the long delay!

It was 9-10 pages. 1 page for every bibliography thing (book).

SilverMoose. I have a question. (As I tend to have.)

      • SilverMoose

        How long was it?

Haha, okay, because it wouldn't work if you weren't, lol.

        Yes. . .

No. . . . Meh. I did. I just didn't like how it came out.

Same! And cool! Did you finish it?

Hmm. Maybs next year indeed lol

I ended up choosing the Cloning one! And I decided I still dislike research papers.

      • SilverMoose

      • SilverMoose

I dunno, I hope so. Again, I want to do it when I have actual time to spare, so I could work out a prize. What would you like?

      • _Recon_

Idk, I don't think we ever will.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!!!!!

I died laughing when I read this.

I would be ok with that. Do I get fancy new prizes???

      • SilverMoose

It did! And I plan to. Except for a few things; I won't be on as often as I used to, my life's gotten busier while I've gotten lazier, so I need to cut out the fun things. I want to renew my sponsorship when I can make use of it TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!!!!!

Also, while I do have the money for it, my next few paychecks are already spent. Whoops, lol. When I do, I think I'm going to write a big sappy letter about it. And about you, and how you introduced me to it. Would you be okay with that?

And poor Ben then. Just the messenger. Who's the message-writer? We can ask for THEIR HEADS!

      • _Recon_

Apparently, Ben's getting all the blame (because he's in charge of the site) but he just does the coding, he's told what to do by a team of people.

        also, SILVERMOOSE!!!

Your Sponsorship finally ran out! smiley7.gif
        Will you Sponsor up?

Also : HI! I haven't been on in while Captain Obvious, signing out , but I'm not doing anything interesting in life, so I don't really have a valid excuse, lol. But How have you been? Did you decide on a topic for your essay, slash have you started volunteering?

And did you say (in your journal) that Ben made these changes? I hope I don't get banned for this, but I never like the changes Ben makes.

        I used the maploco locations. . . .

If it was a legitimate guess I would have said something like Vermont because it starts with a V

On craigslist there is a Volunteer link.

I'm guessing you're in the Western Mass area

You mentor a younger person for I think one day a week. If you have the time, you should consider it. Do you have any other ideas as to where you might volunteer?

Big sis/ little sis. . . I know I've heard of it. But i can't remember what it is

Ugh.... I know that cycle. I have no clue WHAT I'm going to do when I graduate smiley7.gif

And have fun volunteering! I was thinking of joining the big sis/ little sis program after I graduate, and get my life on track, lol. Do you know what you'll be doing?

      • _Recon_

        Alas I haven't.

Unfortunately, being a 20yr old with no prior experience doesn't look good on paper. . . smiley4.gif

It's a vicious circle. Everyone wants everyone with experience.

I'm going to do more volunteering (exp. 20!) and put what I've done on resume (exp. 100!) because I'm not gonna lie, my resume is pretty empty.

      • SilverMoose

Indeed I did, lol. And I resent the comment, lol.

But I understand the dilemma, lol. I have orangebox, I bought it on sale when it was fairly new, and have yet to even open the damn thing, lol. It's school and it's tendency to get into the way of fun things, lol.

I think it's clear what you need to do: stay up playing these games until you finish EVERY LAST ONE, record yourself while you do it, and then send the video to Burnie, lol smiley8.gif

      • _Recon_

Actually yeah I was about the same.

And hey! Guess what! I've decided to not buy so many games.
I now have 11 games over the course of less than 1 month.

Yes, I have a problem, but no more! Until the end of the month when 1 or 2 games come out that I want. But after that! Until the middle of March when I plan on getting BF3. But after that for sure!

And I'll probably go during the summer too to regain some credits that i lost when i transferred.

Thinking of minoring in something, maybe journalism. I'm a decent writer (I think)

Yes! I can't wait for you to reference it! smiley0.gif

Ancient studies is even older than Shakespeare, about the ancient near east. So far I've taken two classes about Rome, two about Christianity, and will take one about government in Ancient times (it counts towards my minor as wel, boo-yeah!). I'm going to try to see if I can take an archaeology class for my last minor class.

What year are you in? Are you a junior as well? Why don't I know that? lol.

      • _Recon_

Yes. I am majoring in Forgiveness.

        '

Not gonna lie, i'm probably going to reference this in the near future. Just a heads up!

And awesome. What's ancient studies ll about?

I'm imagine everyone reading in a very old-timey voice in class (Like Shakespeare speech)

      • SilverMoose

Yes. I am majoring in Forgiveness. smiley8.gif

Government with a minor in Ancient Studies. Which is kind of a pain in the ass, because I always manage to mumble "ancient" so it sounds like "Asian." And there is an Asian studies minor, but I'm not in it, lol.

Ah nah, i read it on a late night and then forgot that i had read it when i woke up and then went away for the weekend with no immedite internet connection. But no it didn't, i use it too. I laughed.

And yeah I remember that. I cried myself to sleep that night. . . . . lol no, but i had hoped you didn't mean it sarcastically. Text, it doesn't convey words very well. I don't remember which journal it was though was it even a journal? idk.

And yes, looking for a job while still having one is way better than quitting your job to look for another haha.
My week off that was filled with so much hope isn't going as i planned but ah well. I'm babysitting my toddler cousin for the week pretty much. Until at least tomorrow, depending on how things work out. Plus next week i have the court date to go to from when i got that ticket.

ah well i hope everything works out in your favor.

Thanksgiving! Yes! We went to my grandma's house where we watched the tele, ate some delicious turkey and other thanksgiving type meals, and hung out with the rest of the family. We finished off the day by playing Pictionary, boys vs girls and we won. It was a close game. Reading that back it kind of sounds like one of those photo frame famiies, not the case haha

How about you, i forget you're at campus. Did you make the trek back home for thanksgiving?

    • _Recon_

So! Wedding was great, nice big church, bridesmaids, groomsmen, other wedding things like bubbles too.
Reception was awesome, many good times were had even though i had no date it just made the slow songs my water-break . It kind of made me feel like i should go to more weddings smiley8.gif

Now tell me, how are things going SilverMoose, did you find more permanent job types?

Thank you for reading my journal. I honestly don't think these negative things about myself, I just want to have an interesting way of closing my journals. And I know I don't have to update all the time, I just feel that I should offer up a bit more than I currently do, I just need to find things to write about.

    • _Recon_

Ah. . . So i guess things aren't going super smooth then at work huh? Do you mean later as in cutting your hours or just showing up plain late?

I show up late to class all the time. I'm that student haha but everything's going good for the most part. Though i do need to get myself a good-looking suit or tux, i have a cousin's wedding to go to next week.

      Well now i know.

      And i'll never forget.
      EVER. O_O

It really reminds me of something, but i can't quite remember what that is. Like when you've had a dream, and you know that you had one, but it's just not coming to you.

I'm not gonna lie, i can't think of any long-winded analogies of this. It took me like 10 mins for the last one haha

and. . . did you just call me a dizzle??

    • _Recon_

Aww. . . I got mah own winda?

What do you think? Or should i be all south-side about it.

      Ah I see.
      SilverMoose it is!

So, do high schools really have homecoming dances? or is that not really a thing? We don't have one in my area, we have a parade then we have the carnival/fiesta complete with carnival rides n such.

    • _Recon_

so does that mean you get the entire bathroom to yourself? I wish i had that, that'd awesome.
What kind of things do you cook at your workplace? Like chicken and rice?
i'm not so sure that was the best transtion of topics. Going from bathroom to cooking smiley7.gif

Me, well, a friends birthday today and she goes to A&M but she's coming down this weekend and we'll hopefully get to hang out. There's some weird curse with me when she comes down we plan to do something with friends and such but i always end up getting sick, having to babysit, or something that prevents me from hanging out. Plus there's a thing going on this weekend. Kind of looking forward to it but idk.
Seemingly random question! Did you have a homecoming dance in highschool? or is that not really a thing?

as to the underscores, it doesn't bother me when people use "Recon" instead. That's how you say it and that's how people type it. Like ActionMan instead of adding the 43 at the end. I like the underscores though since there's not really anyone else on the site that have them at the beginning. I think maybe I've seen some but i can't think of any.
How would you feel if you had underscores on the ends of you name? _SilverMoose_
also, is there a difference to you for Silvermoose vs SilverMoose?

I think i'll use that formula next semester smiley8.gif

Well they got iPads cuz of all those additional apps they could use for learning.
The kids got to take them home
Idk, you can't sell a digital book back. Should i take that into account even though I've never sold any of my text books to anyone?

    • _Recon_

Ah, i was looking through the kindle store and i found a couple of my text books in eBook, for considerably less than the physical ones, i was wondering if maybe you tried an eBook textbook. Cuz i hate carrying around books. I was wondering if it was worth it to get a kindle or a tablet (like an iPad or something like that) to use for books.

I remember on the news a K-12 school decided to get iPads for all their students instead of physical text books. They bought the digital versions of the books and scanned the ones that weren't available digitally, and they saved like $50,000 or a huge number like that.

    • _Recon_

Yes those exactly, though i don't think i have gotten that question before.

Hey! since you're in the school with the textbooks n such, i wanted an opinion on something. But first, have you ever used an eBook version of a textbook?

      Where? Basically. . . Everywhere.

      I just hate surveys. . . . .

Anyhow, i like how those pumpkins came along. Very awesome.

Trying to be a little more social, because you know, college.
But lack of monies isn't making it easier, so i decided to get a job.
i know i tried earlier in the year but i had to stop cuz of things. But now those things aren't there to stop me so, i'm on the job hunts now.

Maybe as cheerleader you can think of a theme for this weekend. That's what cheerleaders do right? Theme things up?

and sorry by the way, i thought i was waiting for you to get back to me but it turned out you were waiting on me!

i feel bad. i'm sorry about that

Hey! You saying i can't attract customers users without putting on sparkles? smiley4.gif

lol Well, if that's what it takes to get your ad clicked, i'll take one for the team

haha i don't think you're a horrible person, you make me laugh!

If that's what you decide to do that's ok by me.
You can always change it too remember, it's not locked in after you put it in. Every couple of months you can cycle through some groups, people, or anything (on the site) you like!

i don't want you to feel that you have to pimp my profile out lol

also, if you pimp out my profile does that make you my pimp?

      like so.

      _Recon_4d566a2702a43.jpg

So if you see it, i'd ask you to click it.

ha well, i'd be lying if i said i didn't try it out for a while. But i changed it back to the drunk tank link and left it like that.

      it's been viewed 5,005 times!!
but only clicked 30 times :/

Well, now you're just trying to make me blush haha.

but why would you make an _Recon_ ad ???

    • _Recon_

      Well, you're right.

it's funny you say that, i clicked an interesting looking Ad and it took me to SpiderWolve i had clicked on his ad.

So does that mean you're going to make a SilverMoose Ad? possibly with a silver moose on it?

Oh right. . . When the Cubans (Dominicans) roll the crepes to tightly and they explode and burn people. . . . . lol that's a funny one too.

If you did that, i'd be flattered! But i'd say do one that no one else has up yet. Most people have groups, people, or the store linked.

I haven't seen one that takes one to the events page (for example)

Well, i guess maybe you're right. i'd probably get annoyed with "pika pika pikachu" every time i had a pokebattle.

Hey, off topic but, in the Questions thread you asked about Ads and Seinfeld
did you get an ad up?

and what's your favorite Seinfeld episode

i know what this person means.

i'd add with something about them finding new pokemon and another 50% of a continent that apparently wasn't there 2 years before.

with pokemon saying their names, i've always been a little disappointed that pokemon don't say their names in Pokemon games. it's always some type of generic screech/roar

    • _Recon_

I think it was something vague like
"In here is everything a pokemon will need to rest"

      but i can't imagine there'd be enough.

and what about when they used to make pokeballs out of acorns!? smiley7.gifsmiley7.gif

I think because on Pokemon it was always portrayed as an animal wonderland, especially where Prof. Oak lives. How much land does he own!?
      Especially with all those Tauros!

      smiley7.gif this a shocked smiley
smiley6.gif this is the :P smiley
