    • My radical views on crime and punishment

      Spynet

Hear me out. I realize that I have not had alot of exposure to crime in my life. I have had a somewhat sheltered existence. However, the more and more I hear about and see the many crimes that are committed across the country the more I question how fair our justice system really is. On tv you see criminals committing some of the most heinous crimes imaginable and they have the opportunity to gain their freedom again (sometimes disturbingly quickly). The more I think about these things, the more I realize that the only reasonable punishment for violent crimes in this country has to be the death penalty.

Seriously. We don't need these people. They hurt, kill, or otherwise hinder productive members of society. They need to be gotten rid of, and we need to get the message across to others that the risk you run for committing a serious crime is the forfeiture of your life. Some people would say that these criminals deserve a second chance to try and rehabilitate themselves. Honestly, and you have to know that this is true unless you are truly naive, people, in general, do not change. There are those rare occasions when someone is able to turn their life around, but that is the exception rather than the rule, and it often requires some extreme intervention for that change to take place.

I have taken into consideration the fact that some people are wrongly convicted of crimes, and my answer to that is that people should only be put to death when there is a sufficient amount of evidence (like a video, conclusive DNA evidence, or a series of corroborating witnesses, or even a confession). When, and only when, there is no doubt that this person has committed the crime, then they are automatically a candidate for execution.

Considering my extreme views on law enforcement I now realize that I could never be a cop because every criminal that I caught in the act would infuriate me so much that they would never make it from my police car to the jail. I suggest that we all exercise our right to own a gun and fight back against crime. Take to the streets and be your own hero. If you see a crime being committed, or if a crime is being committed against you, take it upon yourself to exact justice. When drug dealers and gang members start turning up dead on a massive scale, then I think that the point will get across that we will not take this shit any more.

Here are some of the worst offenses and the punishment they should carry:
      Rape - execution
      Armed robbery - execution
      Aggravated assault - execution
Child molestation - torture, mutilation, then execution

We as a society could even create some more inventive punishments for crimes. The punishment for rape could be castration, especially after multiple offenses (though it would never come to that if we just killed all of our rapists). Multiple time offenders could be surgically blinded (damn I am sick, but criminals just piss me off).

In closing, justice is as much about giving retribution to the victim as it is about punishing the offender. The constitution says that the punishment must fit the crime. Rape scars a person for life. It robs people of their innocence and can carry psychological consequences for the rest of their lives. The Constitution also states that there is to be no cruel and unusual punishment. If you really look at those phrases, their meaning can change due to a person's point of view. "Cruel" and "unusual" are terms that are open to interpretation. From one point of view torture is cruel. From someone else's point of view it is not. We need to get ourselves into the mindset that crime will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

    • New laptop kicks everyone off network

Ok, here's how it is: I recently bought a brand new laptop. It is an HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr and has Windows Vista. We have a netgear rangemax wpn 824 wireless router with wep protection. Whenever I connect my laptop to the wireless network everyone gets kicked off the internet and we have to reset the router and everything is fine for a while. If i have my laptop on the network and I hook up my 360 or one of my other computers to the network we all get kicked off and have to reset the router. We did not have this problem before I bought my new laptop. At one time there is only a maximum of about 3 things (my laptop, my xbox, and my mom's pc) hooked up to the network.

I have looked all over for a solution to this annoying problem: google failed me, calling netgear was a waste of time, and the guys at Best Buy had heard of the problem but were clueless as to how to fix it, and I updated every driver and piece of software on this laptop, and no one else has responded to me on any other tech forum. Any help with this extremely annoying problem would be greatly appreciated. If you think you need more information let me know what you need and how I can get it, and I'll post it up here. Thank you in advance.

    • Screw this, I'm starting my own religion

      Spynet

I'm sick of seeing all these people who take religion so seriously that it adversely affects their lives and their interactions with people. I'm sick of all the hate and violence that is done in God's name. So, I'm starting my own religion and I'm starting from scratch. We're going back to the absolute basics of faith. I will attempt to describe the core beliefs of my religion:

There is a God, and He loves us. We know nothing about God for sure. Your thoughts and beliefs are your own and you cannot be faulted for them, but treat everyone with respect and love despite your own biases. Judgment is reserved for God only. Since we know nothing of God or what he truly wants, you have no right to speak for Him.

That's about it. I'll update with more later if I think of anything else. If anyone happens to read this and has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Death is never an easy thing to deal with for anyone. In a lot of ways I have been very lucky. Everyone in my life that has passed away, so far, have done so either when I was too young to understand, or were so far out of touch with me that it had little affect. The unfortunate side effect of this is that I am not very good at dealing with loss. That being said, I have been leading up to a very unfortunate reality: doctors believe that my father may be suffering from ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease. IF this diagnosis turns out to be true, then my father may only have 3 to 5 years left to live. Just typing out that phrase alone is enough to bring me to my knees in tears. My father and I never had a very close relationship. In fact, I actually resented him for how much he and my mother fought over the years. I would purposely set myself away from him and avoid contact with him. Now that I know he may not have long to live, I have no idea of how to react. All of my prior problems with my father seem meeningless and petty. I am ashamed of myself. Through this whole ordeal I can't think of anything else except that I love my father, and I don't want to see him go.

    • This is not a suicide note

Life is a chronic condition. The purpose of life is to die. There is no point to doing anything else. More and more I'm wondering if it is really a mortal sin to commit suicide, or if that is just a ploy used by the church to stop people from doing so and ensuring the presence of the workforce. Just to be safe, I would never commit suicide because I don't even want to consider having to go through an eternity in Hell. The greatest disappointment in my life is waking up in the morning after an entire night of begging God to just kill me. Please, do me a favor and pray for God to end my suffering.

Im not sure why it is that the death of someone that I have never met upsets me the way it has. Those that know me, know that I don't feel sympathy, I have too many problems of my own. Maybe I identify more with the fictional characters he has played than i do with people. Nevertheless, I think it would be nice if we all kept Heath and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

I can only wonder how this will affect the way that I watch The Dark Knight. It will be kind of eerie watching him onscreen. I don't think I'll be able to concentrate on the film properly.

    • Bah! Humbug!

I hate the holidays. The entire months of November and December invoke feelings in me similar to that of nausea. Holidays are terrible because you are supposed to spend them with your family. If you're like me and you don't get along with your family then the holidays hold none of the magic and joy that they are supposed to. My family does their best to exclude me from any kind of happiness. My father is the biggest asshole ever to walk this earth. He never ever gave a damn about me because I wasn't into sports. He would degrade me all the time, and tell me how my little brother was better than me because he was more athletic. He derides me for not having a girlfriend (as if it wasn't hard enough to bear already). If I got my wish, he would die a most horrible and painful death.

The holidays are a time for people like me to reflect on how utterly miserable they are. As I'm writing this, during yet another Thanksgiving, my whole family is in the other room playing a board game that I was not invited to join (mainly because I don't have a teammate, and everyone else is out there with their significant others). I hate people and everything to do with them. When I see others being happy, it makes me want to do something to wipe those smug smiles off their faces. I want to be left alone in every way possible. I'm tired of trying to get people to like me, it just doesn't work, so you can all fuck off. I'm much happier on my own anyway (that's the way it's always been, and I'm used to it by now). I'm just trying to decide which is worse: to have to live like this, or to have never been born at all. I know which one i would have preferred, but unfortunately I don't have much of a choice in the matter, what with assisted suicide being illegal and all (Damn lawmakers!)

    • Deeply depressed....

      Spynet

Just like the title says, I have yet again fallen into a very deep and seemingly insurmountable state of depression. It's a common event with me, seeing as how I have no friends, and haven't had a date in over a year. I am truly alone in this world. I have no idea why, though. Most of the people I know tell me how funny and smart I am, but outside of school or work, not one of those people have ever expressed a desire to hang out. I did not make one friend in high school that I still speak with on a regular basis today. I didn't want to sit at home all day long today, so I went out to a local Starbucks and.... just sat there. Everyone else there had a purpose: some were there to meet friends, others were there to work... I was just there on the off chance that i might be noticed. Oh, what's the use... I am so far behind in social experience that it's too late to make friends, or to ever hope of finding love.... this sucks... life sucks... people suck.... Seeing as how no one wants anything to do with me, i don't want anything to do with anyone else.... I want to live like my new role model: Ebenezer Scrooge...

Back than it was very hard. Now you have to do some much stupid stuff and if you take a break from it for a few months you cant do anything with anyone because all the stuff you missed out of doing.
